I don't know about the pages being composited, but Ferris has said in interviews that it wasn't drawn in a real binder, the page lines are all added in afterwards. It's a great book, looking forward to getting no. 2!
With the success of vol. 1, Ferris wanted a better deal and argued that vol. 2 wasn't part of their original contract. After much negotiating things were resolved.
