I'm not sure you got that right. From the 4 minute mark Richard has total control and builds a crescendo; by comparison Ma's is rushed and, dare I say, rather undefined. But that's the great thing about classical music - there are loads of different interpretations of the same piece! :) @@anemelia7778
Sounds great with passages of great technique with colors involved in phrasing. I have not heard someone play this in masterclass since the college days.
This piece hasn't been getting the credit that it deserves. Juice, speed, drama, like a speeding car, you can't stop listeningl. And this performance is great ! Gotta hear Samuel Houston Mayes for a competitive 2nd movement though. Sammy's sound is unforgettable.
Not at all, immediately you can see he plays like Heinrich Schiff, including his posture. Indeed I checked and he studied with him, obviously the biggest influence.
Richard Harwood has given this wonderful piece a new life ! Thank you! Perhaps cellists will again play it !
Brilliant performance! Thank you Richard Harwood for your input in this outstanding piece of cello music!
This was new to me until I heard Stephen Isserlis speak glowingly about it. What a minor gem this work is.
It sounds pretty complex
Bravo!! Magnifique!!
god his phrasing is soooo goodooddodddd. his story telling is what i strive to havé when playing this piece
+1 and big like for this performance. a very nice piece
Best version of the concerto)
Great playing! Wow!
One of the best performances I've seen or heard!
This is the next piece I'm going to study. I loved your performance, it was the best I found ❤
Not being hateful, but i reccomend Yo yo ma's version, it's on youtube as well. That one's gonna leave you speechless

Just a smashing performance of one of my favorite concerti. Great, juicy old finger shifts! Super clarity and diction. Really excellent. Thanks!
What a marvelous performance, and with such artistry. Thank you, Mr. Harwood. You are certainly a cellist I am going to follow.
Whaou quel merveilleux son! Quel tempérament merci beaucoup pour ce fabuleux partage si riche en expression et en émotions
Lots of similarities with the viollinconcerto which I performed on my final examination in 1985. Time flies use it well
