This is so specific but absolutely incredible. This needs to be preserved at the Historical Society.

I grew up in northern Wisconsin, about an hour from Duluth. Duluth was "the city" to me growing up, where the concerts, shopping malls and (later) bars were...well, okay, that was mostly Tower Avenue in Superior. But I know Duluth well, know all the locations depicted in these photos, and although I was 3 when these particular sounds were broadcast, I remember 99 WAKX very well. Listened to a lot of WAKX, KQDS and KZIO as a kid. Saw a lot of Jack McKenna, Pat Kelley and Dennis Andersen...heard "WDIO TV DULUTH/WIRT HIBBING" countless times between TV shows. Fond memories. Thanks for sharing! :-)

I remember the Sound Museum so well. I was 13 in 1976. This is amazing to listen to right now. Thank you for sharing!

The Cove in Superior had the classic sat nite fever lighted dance floor on Tower Ave.

2:42 is a shot of when the Airstreamers had a convention/gathering in town.

Who drove back and forth over the High Bridge depending on A) state drinking age changes (including grandfather clauses) and B) closing times?

I miss those days.. Duluth has changed so much and not for the better - it’s hardly recognizable anymore and I’ve lived here all my life. Yeah those were the good old days.. ✌🏼

Those were the good old days Sunny, you said you lived in Duluth all your life, I wonder if you could settle an argument between my brother and me. We were talking about the bookstore/record store/head shop downtown back then and can't remember the name. I think it was called Downtown Book, my brother says no way but he doesn't have a clue. I appreciate your help.

There are 2 that I can think of. One of them was called “The Last Place on Earth” the other was called “Electric Fetus”

@@GetonthebusGus126 If you're thinking books and records (as opposed to lava lamps and pipes), there was also Carlsons', where - in its heyday - you could find just about anything ever published on paper or vinyl. I think the owner of that place was also involved with The Last Place on Earth and Electric Fetus.

After listening to this I can easily conclude that Duluth Radio and radio in general has turned to total sh*t!
