- Diamond Valley Lake fishing trip on 2/12/20. The lake was stocked with 3000 lbs of rainbow trout and 500 lbs of lightning trout!

I was fishing next to you guys in the morning! Said hi to Carrie as I was checking out a different spot. Ended up catching 4 on all dark colors. No lightings though....I’m jealous. OH HEY. Maybe checkout the ultralight heavy weight mini jig boxes. They’re like 30 bucks for 50 mini jigs and 10 jig heads I believe. 10 different colors. You save a bit of money rather than buying the pre rigged packs! Maybe I’ll see you guys up at big bear or silverwood sometime haha

Thinking about getting the pack that you mentioned. Seems like everyone has been using that brand lately. We’ll have to give it a try. We were suppose to go to silverwood today but changed our minds last minute. Maybe this coming week. Hopefully we run into again on our next fishing trip.
Explore Natures Catch Yeah I fished about two coves over. Got lucky and there wasn’t a ton of people near me when it was perfectly shady....a school came and I hammered it. Bro....message them on Instagram the owner seems so cool. I just customized my order for another pack. He let me switch out a couple colors and add in some I preferred. It’d be awesome if he “sponsored” or worked with a larger Cali channel like yours.

There’s a real nice kit at turners for 25 has everything you need like ten colors and jig heads .

They usually stock it with rainbows and lightning trout once a month when the trout season starts. They just started stocking it last week. It gets pretty packed on stock days FYI.

Even if it was a tough day, its always nice to get out fishing! I'm shocked i didn't see you there as i was in most of the spots you fished. My lucky color was a natural green with glitter :) tight lines and hope to see you both at the next stocking!

Lucky Fella thank you. Yeah it was our goal to get one of those. Managed only one lightning. There were a lot of lightings hanging out in all the coves but there was just a ton of people fishing those spots.

Nice catch. They must have been just planted because there still hanging around the shore in large schools. They'll be gone in a few days. Those gold ones I've been told are hybrid franken fish that can grow to 20+ lbs. Hopefully you be able to catch them when they grow more. Good luck. Great video.
Mark Taniguchi thank you! Yes they were planted the day before. A lot of those gold ones do have big hunch backs and large jaws. Frankenstein fish for sure! 😆. Our last trip to this lake they did have very large size lightning trout, not so much this time. We will keep trying to get one of those large ones 🤞🏻😁.
Was there today. Did see a couple by the boat dock. We try 3 diffrent coves, But I got skunked today! Maybe next time..

@@ExploreNaturesCatch what pound test are you using? Also how far is the walk from where you parked to where you fished?
toohyped we were using 4lb test and the walk was about 10 minutes to the spot we were fishing. There were a lot more better spots closer to the parking lot but it was packed with people. You could see all the fish hanging out in the coves.
toohyped when the fish seem really finicky then we will move down to 2lb test but majority of the time we are fine with 4lb test.

Where do you find the stocking schedule for this lake?
JuNk we follow them on Facebook “Diamond valley marina” they usually post when they have a big stocking. Usually on a Tuesday, once a month. They close on Monday/Tuesday.

Sal Duran lol all good. We do both catch and release and catch and keep. Mostly depends on the species. We always release the large mouth bass and do both for the trout. Didn’t you just go fishing recently? How was it?

Sal Duran where did you guys fish at? Depends what species you are targeting. If you look up dfg trout stock it will show you which lakes they are stocking and the date. They just don’t give you the exact date. We’ve had a lot of luck at silverwood. That’s where we are probably going to go next. For general info on trout If you are going to bait in wait, you can’t go wrong with Berkeley mice tails. (Pink with a white head, orange with a white head, etc). Always put some kind of scent on it like kokane trout scent, garlic (scent is linked in the description). 2-4lb test line. Different color mini jigs size 1/32 oz (white/yellow, green, brown, etc). Always change colors if you aren’t getting any action. Polarized glasses to see in the water. Salmon peach powerbait. Size 8 owner mosquito hook. Carolina keeper, sliding sinker on a Carolina rig.
