Interesting views and perspectives you always have:
Mercury and Taylor like a choir when singing together, as an example
For me, Mercury and Mays guitar like extensions of one another, creating amazing monologues, Somebody to Love & much of the earlier Q arrangements
Great to always catch up brother ❤😊💪🏽

I love this concert. Thanks. His voice is in good shape. They got my heart beating out of my chest.
Why Superman. Why Betty Boop? It’s just fun.

Well you knew I would adore this one Rory!! I was about 25 or 30 rows from the stage in that enormous arena. When they literally pounced onto that stage, everyone went wild...I was entranced, totally in AWE by this band...still am..will NEVER forget that night...best EVER! Great observation about John. Right from the beginning, Freddie supported John and always encouraged him to write songs for Queen...and John wrote some of their greatest hits! I always notice that when Freddie is at the piano, John stands just in back of him. One of your frequent commenters (maybe sherryheim5504) once said that this was so Freddie could hear the bass line of the song amidst all of the noise onstage and coming from the audience which helped Freddie with the timing and tempo of the song...that makes a lot sense to me. They all supported each other in so many ways. And, after watching you for a long time, I know by now what you mean when you say the song is very "Beatle-ly" in only the way you explain it! Thanks Rory...this was GREAT! (Edited for autocorrect..aargh...)

Greatest Live entertainment they were, lighting effects, audience engagement, everyone locked in, and bringing another dimension to the recorded tracks 😊

I love this concert. I think at this time there was a big Superman movie happening. During the beginning of Play The Game, you can see how deeply Freddie breathes, his whole stomach expands as he sucks air into his diaphragm.

I've heard it said that Superman wears a Freddie Mercury T-shirt.

This was the last concert without any "back-up" musicians - just the 4 of them. This was a two off for filming, not actually part of a tour. The next tour they embarked on they hired a piano player to pick up the slack when Freddie wanted to be out front (he also occasionally played rhythm guitar & some back-up vocals). There is also a version of this concert where Roger & Brian do commentary. Unfortunately, it's also broken up into individual videos, but it's kinda cool to listen to their take on everything.

I love this concert. The boys were very pissed during this concert ,because Saul Swimmer wanted to combine the two shows together ,and told them to wear the same clothes. They were very angry. So Freddie wore little white shorts to prevent him from doing that .

I remember this concert I could not go to Montreal to go see them but this was shown on Canadian tv and I watched it and wished I could be there.

Love this show. It’s almost too perfect sometimes lol, but it never gets old.
You should check out the Roger & Brian commentaries. They watch this show and comment, some interesting stuff & their admiration for Freddie is great to hear.
FYI, Brian & Roger have stated that this show was the last time they played just the 4 of them. Spike was hired soon after these shows.

The comment about someone filling in Freddie's keyboard parts is incorrect with respect to this concert, which was shot in 1981. It's just the four of them. They added an onstage keyboard player in 1982 to free Freddie up from playing the keys, though he continued with some selective piano playing (Morgan Fisher for the European tour, then Fred Mandel for the North American tour). Spike Edney assumed this role for the 1984 tour through to their final show in Knebworth in 86. Prior to 82, it was only the four of them live on stage.

Queen only had an additional pianist from 1982 tours onwards - none present here 👍🏻
