The Palm Beach Gardens Police Department wants to remind everyone to remain vigilant this holiday season as criminals are taking advantage of the holiday rush to target unsuspecting individuals in an attempt to steal valuables, particularly in crowded shopping areas and parking lots.

To minimize the risk of purse theft, please consider the following precautions:
1. Stay Alert: Be aware of your surroundings and stay vigilant, especially in crowded places.
2. Keep Valuables Secure: Ensure your purse is zipped or closed securely, keep it close to your body and avoid leaving in shopping carts and unlocked cars when returning carts. In addition, the use of crossbody bags can be more difficult for thieves to snatch quickly.
3. Avoid Overloading: Try not to carry too many valuables or large amounts of cash. Use a secure wallet or money clip for essential items.
4. Park in Well-Lit Areas: When shopping or running errands, park in well-lit and populated areas to reduce the risk of theft.
