Optimising trade in Stellaris is one feature of the game, I'd rather not have to deal with. If you have Pirate problems, add some stations with 4-6 Hangars along the collection route and it should be fine.
@@MichaelDavis-mk4me Other empires yes, but pirates will just keep making trouble if you even collect trade outside the station with capital and I don't like the idea of letting Trade Value on colonies go to waste, so I build these stations collecting Trade within 7 jumps and Hangar Stations to protect them and then run out of Starbase limit for Shipyards and Anchorages.

Evacuation means they at least have some time to pack and leave. It could be worse with the corpo sending bulldozers and an armed escort without so much as a warning.

There is good stuff in electronics, like copper and rare earth metals, even some gold. With global trade being too expensive to ship ores and mass poverty and unemployment, entire landfills of that stuff could be valuable enough for nomads to fight over.
