  • Winter has arrived and it's keeping us all sorts of stuck & frustrated. But not before we have our most brutal night in an anchorage ever. Then it's time to begin getting our home ship shape to tackle the longest passage we've taken on since arriving in the Sea of Cortez over a year ago.

    Watching in order from beginningI was up to #70. But I had to jump ahead to this one. Impressed how Mike can fix things and not stress out too much. When in Seattle we had a 33' Carver Voyager. Actually it was the wife's boat. I spent 20 years in Coast Guard. I told her I had enough of boats but it seems every time I went on boardI had to fix something. The last straw was when she loaned it to someone and it never ran again. I was satisfied riding WSF. Now she has an RV and we are not loaning it out. Looking forward to your trip to the mainland. I fell in love with Puerto Vallarta.

    We were just there. And when you went to Costa Baja we could see our sailboat behind you on the video! It helps if we know time-frames of releases...are you two weeks behind! Our friends just sailed to Mazatlan last night (not there yet) and we are arriving today at Puerto Escondido. Love your videos!

    We have been experiencing the Norte winds here in The Sea of Cortez. No bueno for sure! Glad you are getting all your repairs done! ☺️

    The end of the sea of Cortez episodes looking forward to the less age looks like it was eventful - and good to have you back for my Saturday lunchtime viewing - good job on the autopilot - that’s the sort of problem fix you can live with

      It was a relief to have it be quick and easy! And luckily it didn’t happen in the middle of the night in passage.

    We spent 2 days in that cove with 30kt winds from the north. Super gusty and sailing on the anchor but not that bad an no waves.

    Coromel winds from the west? Santo is is usually so protected except from the west.

      Yea we had no winds that night but steep and packed in waves from the west - everyone on the island got rocked that night!🥴

    I saw mike going up the mast and you working hard on the wench. It’s been a long time since I sailed, but, I saw on one of the sailing channels one of the girls would use like a heavy duty drill driver to wind the wench until the sails had peaked. I wondered if you thought it might be worth a try for something like that?

    Why do you have such a large loop in your climbing chair ,line

    • @MakingOurWay
      @MakingOurWay  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think maybe what you’re seeing is just the end of the halyard clipped back onto the line? I tie a bowline onto the bosun’s chair and then attach the shackle onto the halyard. It ensures the bowline won’t come undone but also just secured the shackle so it isn’t smacking me in the face. I also attach the spinnaker halyard as a backup.

    Something interesting I normally watch the sailing videos on my smart TV. Your shows the audio is fine but the video is very jerky almost like you are showing a bunch of stills. There is one or two other channel that I have seen this but only very briefly, white spot pirate and delos. I found if I watch your channel on my phone it works just fine. I have very fast fiber internet service and watch internet tv out here on the farm with no issues. I was just curious if you have anyone else mention this challenge? Love your channel, God bless you both and the two four legged crew members.

      Thanks for the kind words! Hard to say exactly what it could be but one consideration is the age/resolution of your tv. We film in 4k and 5k and some older or lower res screens that don’t have that type of capacity often end up showing a really poor quality, unfortunately. Otherwise no idea what it could be, but we appreciate you watching!☺️

      I know right too bad we forgot to fire up our military grade night vision cam that we definitely have while we were determining how to keep ourselves and our house safe. Sorry to let you down, stranger on the internet 👋

      @@MakingOurWay This is probably why you have bugger all subs for a sailing channel because you pull this kind of nonsense. As for "military grade night vision" what a drop kick thing to say, yeah you need it why others film stuff like that at night with shitty phones a decade ago. This whole 'worst night at anchor' tale never even happened did it, you've just run out of shit to do and say, so it's fantasy time
