A minute ago I was listening to YunChan's performance of this piece at Cliburn's preliminary round and it led me to this. Its more amazing how YunChan gave a life to this written one. Hope the composer, Stephen Hough was really delightful with YunChan's recreation. Thank you both of you!
@@marshallartz395 Not already lol. I asked him to after I made this comment since nobody else would do it haha. Thanks for looking out for me and sending the link though
As with most contemporary "art" jazz inspired pieces, it's pretty, but shallow. I'm reminded of what Feldman said about jazz in general "There's so much instrument that I can barely hear the music!"

and Yunchan lim(the pianist)
A keywork, a temporary masterpiece, embacing our entire history of music, the best living composer of our time
Thank you for the score!! Now we can see WHAT the pianists had to learn in such a short time! I love the work! From Cape Town🇿🇦🇿🇦🎹🎹🎶🎵🎶🎵
This has always been one of my favourite pieces by Hough along with the Vida Breve Sonata!
Wow the pianist seems pretty good they should consider joining a competition or something
lol

Yunchan Lim!! Haha

This performance is wonderful, and intriguing and captivating
It’s a terrific piece! 😎🎹
Sparkly! I hear Debussy and Copland influence.. maybe Gershwin as well
Thanks for 3 sheet music lmao
Hough is very talented,
Great piece! he has his own voice, but I hear Messiaen, Ravel and Debussy influences....
Tons of Ravelian motivic influences around the 00:40 section
What are the checkmarks in the score? I've never seen that notation before.
could I ask you to make another one of these but with Kate Liu's rendition?
Somebody already did! Here’s the link to Kate Liu’s performance with score:

Why did you write art between quotation marks

This is a charming piece. However, pretty pale to Marc-Andre Hamelin's contribution for the same competition.
