Sir Stephen Hough, the eminent pianist and composer, speaks with David Plylar of the Music Division about selections from the Library’s significant holdings of the music of Franz Liszt. Pieces discussed include the first piano concerto, the “De Profundis” Totentanz, volume three of the Années de pèlerinage, and selected waltzes including the first and fourth Valse oubliée and the Soirées de Vienne: valses-caprices d’après F. Schubert.
