    Hello and thank you for the information. I am keen to make outdoor stool, using a 25 ltr container as a mould - do you think papercrete will work for this? I tried once using polystyrene chips but they floated to the top.

    You did an awesome job! How durable would a pot like this be? Does the heat or cold crack it eventually or is it pretty solid? If you could do something to add strength what would you do?.once again fantastic looking ! Great job!

      The pots are very durable. None have cracked on me so far but we don't get harsh winters here. Just hot summers (100 degrees and up). I think you can compare them to terra cotta pots.

      There are people using papercrete blocks as an alternative building material and having great success. It’s time and labor intensive so it will never be a common market product but it does work.

    Too creative. Loved it. Although, how can we make this pot water proof? Will the rain destroy the pot?

    • @charsnest147
      @charsnest147  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Rain will not destroy the pot in my experience. You can seal it will a cement sealer if you wish.

      Lots of fluid applied waterproofing. Some in the paint section and others in the roofing (flat) section of the hardware stores.

    How heavy is this pot when dry?
    Nice video

      Its not heavy at all when dried out. Much lighter than a concrete one.

    What does putting it in plastic do for it? Instead of just letting it dry outside.

    • @charsnest147
      @charsnest147  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It allows it to dry slowly. That seems to make it stronger.

    • @johnlee7085

      It’s popular to think of it as drying, but cement actually goes through a chemical reaction when mixed with water. The full curing process takes almost a month, but has gained the vast majority of its strength in one week. If it does actually dry quicker than that then the water isn’t present for the reaction resulting in lesser strength.
      The chemical reaction is also the reason it is very important to were gloves to keep it off your skin. It can cause a chemical burn.

    Instead of sanding by hand, could I gently use an electric sander?
