wow what a powerful tool, dozens of in depth navigational charts all on one user friendly interface for anywhere in the world, all for free, how are the big companies not shutting this down?
Hi Dave, great video! We are heading off to the South Pacific next year and the charts I can now create for OpenCPN will be hugely helpful. Thanks for the time you have put into this.
Really agreat video David ! lots of usefull info. And free charts are the best ! no ... The best was to now about MaintenaceROS ! I am now already a member. And looking forward to the "offline funcionality". All the best and good winds
Hello i have downloaded opencpn on my samsung tablette but not having charts of my area please any help please i would like reunion island and mauritius please Thanking in advance
Can you still download navionics maps on SAS Planet for now? I've tried, but I still can't. Featured "Marine navionics chart tile does not exist" Please solve it!
Is it possible to have too many charts in one area? Everything was working but it seemed like i lost levels of zoom the more I made. Would it be best to make one large polygon and let it down load over night? Thanks for any help
Great video...I am trying to build C-MAP mbtiles with SASplanet. I have issues about connection downloading the tiles. Downlaod is always pausing which takes foreever to downlaod the tiles. I have no issue with Navionics which is super fast. I have no clue how to contact P higgins. Can you help? Thx.
I followed this tutorial by downloading the programs and installing them as you do. But at 8:55 your map menu shows more choices than I have in SASPlanet. Specifically I don't have Marine Maps as a choice and I can't find Navionics Marine Charts like you have. Do I need to change a setting or do anything else to get these charts like you show? This is a great tutorial for step-by-step instructions on how to make charts for OpenCPN, well done!
Nevermind, I figured it out. I pressed the N hotkey and the Navionics Chart appeared in the viewer and it created the Marine Maps directory as you show in the video. Not sure why it didn't show after the installation.
Bummer about the programs being Windows only. I had to stop there. But you can use QGIS to make satellite image MBTiles on Mac, and it works perfectly with OpenCPN.
pls help Error: Start_Download 1. Unable to find Tmemo_wnd Error: unable to complete SasPlanet request. If SasPlanet is in Full Screen Mode, turn it off Try increasing the Typing Delay in the the Options panel SasPlanet may need to be restarted.
I really like having the different MB Tiles in OpenCPN. Being able to switch between the different maps/charts quickly is incredibly useful. Plus one device is easier to handle than many! 😄
When you are in SAS planet downloading charts, do you still need your own subscription to each chart database? Seems like you would, but thought I'd ask
it does not work. it can't find any cards you can use for anything. only google maps works. and the other program to download the cards doesn't work either, there's an error in the code so it can't open the things it needs to open so it stops every time
me salvaste la vida chico me toca dar un clase de cartas nauticas y asi se puede obtener cartas mas actualizadas que en navionics o garmin mucho amor chico

Sailing Aquarius has a great video on how to make MBtiles using QGIS

Nice work.
Noooo! Please consider continuing the series. Thank you.
Have you used several iPads sitting next to each other while navigating or do you prefer the MB tiles route?

Wow thanks for the work, does it work for Europe too ?
Yep! This method will work anywhere in the world.
@@OutChasingStars Great then !
I was talking about Europe because over there, there is not free nav maps like in the US

Nope. SASPlanet provides access to each database.
