Personally, I think that in order to get the most out of Lana's music and to really submerge ourselves in her art, we shouldn't be looking for critiques of societal norms or societal narratives (except for the Lust for Life era maybe). I think it's enough to delve into her world, without expecting to spot any messages or metaphors or any thought-provoking themes. We are so lucky to be able to have a look inside, even through the small peephole that is her music.
