Translation: Attention!! Is there an Italian who speaks German?
Listen! I say this only once. There's only one reason why you have been transported to this camp-to work!! Any attempt of sabotage will be punished immediately with death penalty. The executions will take place at the courtyard by shots in the back. You have the honour to work for our great German fatherland and participate in the construction of the greater German empire.
You should never forget 3 basic rules: 1. Don't try to flee! 2. Follow every command without asking! 3. Any attempt of a rebellion will be punished by hanging!
Is that clear!?! You should be happy to work here! Nothing will happen to you as long you obey the commands. Obedience is everything!!
And another thing At this whistle, everyone into the courtyard-fast!! Muster in two rows-Silence!!-every morning in roll-call.
One more thing ~ You will work over there and you will recognize the dimensions of this camp easily.

respect from Romania, we are in 2024. I watched this movie again and I couldn't resist the tears at some moments but I also laughed a lot. this scene is one of the funniest. maybe I laughed more than at the scene when Johnny Depp had a crocodile's tail attached to the bottom and meandering in a devastated hotel room. at the end I say buongiorno principessa

"...Even the best sequence in the film leaves a horrible aftertaste. Guido pretends to know German so he can translate for a Nazi officer, instead reciting improvised rules to his son and the other prisoners. It’s surprisingly charming, Benigni finally appearing as likable as he does in his own head. A few minutes later, however, I realised that what Guido actually does in this scene; he conceals valuable information from the other men in the camp, to protect his own interests. At least one of these men probably died because of the information they didn’t receive from Guido in this scene. Life Is Beautiful doesn’t show that happening, however, because that would suggest Guido isn’t a lovable hero/greatest man alive."

Yes but literally 3 seconds after this videos run time, the other men in the camp walk up to him confused and he explains to them "Ask Bartolomeo. He knows everything" since Bartolomeo can speak German and Italian, so he could tell the guards.

Lmao, I know right? They only started a World War that killed 50 million people how long ago was it? 85 years ago or something? And it's not like they still exist and increase in power and influence in several countries right? (They do btw, at least in Europe but also the USA)
Plus, it's not like grand-scale massacres and genocides have occurred even after the Holocaust, despite the fact that they could've been prevented by the United Nations, right? RIGHT???
I understand that some people are uneducated, but please just stfu and watch a good movie that isn't about aliens, robots, hot chicks and explosions every once in a while.
