      Could probably make it rc with some 3d printing done too the front/chassis.
      (Making it rwd only) & perhaps electrics from something like a team associated rc28 or some small electronic esc, micro servo & small 2s lipo.
      Plenty of videos of them both rc converted & running as they are on the beach on tracks built in the sand.
      th-cam.com/video/LZsnh0ld22g/w-d-xo.html
      This video has a hilux in it running.
      th-cam.com/video/XiCkGcJ9AWs/w-d-xo.html
      3d printed rwd lunchbox mini 4wd th-cam.com/video/sewWibwkMlg/w-d-xo.html
      These have oodles of torque as well so you can have it running even in mud or snow.
      Hm if you do some 3d printing & add a 2nd motor that makes each motor power left & right wheels you could make it tank steer pretty easily as well similar too the zip zaps monster trucks from the 2000's

    3s + brushless, send it!!! lol.
    I've read about not using NiMh in some motorized toys. They say it's because of the extended run time and higher voltage over the longer run time compared to alkaline (even though the initial voltage is lower) basically kills the motor quicker. Running faster, hotter and longer will take it's toll on any motor. Anyhoo, I remember these little beasts from when I was a young lad. They were great fun.

    • @TAMIYALegends

    • @RCHobbyShed
      @RCHobbyShed 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BrendanRaymondKoroKoro NiMh batteries are also more likely to fry the wiring/motor if the car gets stuck because of the extra current over alkaline batteries. I guess it saves them replacing 100's of 1000's of toys. Then there's the safety issues of toys burning out...

    • @acereport8939
      @acereport8939 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      RC Hobby Shed I found that NiMh batteries worked absolutely fantastic on my kids Thomas trains which are kinda similar to this but the motors are much smaller. Runtimes were similar to alkaline batteries on those little trains. I think it’s got something to do with how many amps the device draws. Draw too many amps on NiMh batteries and they stop working almost immediately. Sometimes even damaging the NiMh batteries permanently.

    • @RCHobbyShed
      @RCHobbyShed 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@acereport8939 That could be another reason, damage to the NiMh. After watching this video I searched for the answer and posted basically what I'd read, which made sense to me. So in short I suppose what they're trying to say is by using NiMh batteries you risk damaging either the toy or the batteries. 👍

    It’s funny the tamiya hi lux monster racer was the last tamiya I ever built. I loved that car but I was like 15 and sold it . I think it’s so much better looking than the king cab . And the hi lux has a lexan body it’s a great truck and if you go brushless that thing could be a beast. ... really digging the blitzer beetle and really want one my local hobby shop has one but the timing is bad for me can only wait and hope nobody buys it..

    The Ni-MH battery thing is just to make sure you don't break the battery bed because Ni-MHs are fatter.

    Don't get confused by Tamiya manuals. They don't get it always right. Any AA batteries will do. You will get slightly more power using 1.5V Drycells.

    From back in the day 1990's when they first came out I bought a Monster Beetle.
    A Lunchbox.. a Vanquish. And Avante.. and a Wild Willy. In the junior mini 4wd range..
    However in the last year or so i have bought Suzuki Jimny. a Pajero. . A TRF racer.. and more recent 2 Mach Bullets. 1 standard in blue and the higher grade chassis silver version.. ..
    Been looking at an Astute and thunder dragon...
    Price wise some of these are not cheap.. for vintage.($60aud to a few 100 . And a recent release Robo Racer.. shock price of $500 aud... There was a Falcon... 🤔.. and many others..

      Its a in hindsight i wish i had got my hands on more of the long since deleted ones.. Falcon. Boomerang. Fox. And a second wild willy. ..
      But at the rareness and prices now not likely to get them..
