A friend gifted me a bottle of the Jameson 18 year aged whisky and I really enjoy the mellow flavour with a beautifully lingering finish! I recently had the Jameson Cold Brew and Matt if you also love good coffee (100% Arabica - so definitely decent coffee!) this is a fantastic match in flavours. I very much want to try the Jameson that you have reviewed here today! It sounds so delicious! It sounds like a lovely surprised from Jameson! I also enjoy the original Jameson. Right now I'd have to say my favorite is the 18 year old whisky because it's honestly so lovely but I truly enjoy a few of them. The distilling is impressive! Awesome and super informative video! Cheers!! 🙂
@@christinecamley that's a good friend! I've only had a few drams of the Jameson 18, but you're right, it's absolutely a great whiskey. I've tried the cold brew and it's nice, definitely going to be making some cocktails with it when the weather gets warmer!
Oh wow! I love the sound of that syrupy texture and all those interesting notes from all that oak! Sounds like a surprisingly complex offering. Glad that it's a core whiskey, so we might be able to get our hands on it! Thanks Matt!
Wow. I had to come back and re-watch as I just opened this up. You got so much more than me! At least I told people to find you. You really worked hard on this one.
Absolutely! There's plenty of new distilleries and brands coming on stream, and that's forcing all the established distilleries to innovate with new stuff!
Great review Matt! I am curious about this one but I don't know whether I like single pot still whisky. None of the ones I tried really gave me a reason to purchase a bottle. To put things in perspective, I'd rather have a classic Jameson than Redbreast 21 but I think it might be the oloroso effect as I hate the taste the oloroso sherry casks impart. So yeah I am cautiously curious :) Cheers!
I heard this was coming out but figured it would be too oaky. You gave some really great descriptors! Looks like we have something to be excited about. Cheers.
I think the oak came out to be really well balanced. I've only had a few whiskeys aged in Irish oak, and it gives a really sweet, not spicy vibe. (incidentally, Rose just came home from a trip with a Teeling whiskey aged in BRAZILIAN wood, and it's got such a unique taste!)
Hmm, just had a sip of both to compare. John's Lane has more peppery spice and feels more rounded out (being 12 years), this is a bit more oak spice and tannins, also sweeter but it's a little bit sharper. On balance, if I could only have one, I'd stick with the John's lane, but this is still a lovely drop (in my opinion)
@@TheWhiskeyNerd super. Since I have a bottle of the Jonh's Lane, this Jameson is not on my radar in the near future. Though I'm intrigued by the use of Irish virgin oak.
What's your favourite Jameson whiskey?
I really like the Black Barrel. Triple triple and Signature. Really looking forward to this after hearing so much and also your great review. 🎉

Hard to top Bow Street! 😁
@@ultanfinegan8188 this is quite different to those but at the core, it's still recognisably Jameson, so I suspect you'll like it!

Wow, thanks! I might have to pour myself a nice glass this weekend to revisit it before St Patrick's Day!
Lots going on. I can't wait to try. Thanks for sharing your insights and great walk through of each component.
Thanks so much Jon!
@@TheWhiskeyNerd Your walk through of the casking was spot on, thanks again!
This is the greatest time to be a whiskey lover!!!

I do enjoy Jameson. Thanks for sharing. will be looking out for this bottle. cheers
Cheers! I hope you can find it!
Amazing and stunning review matt first time seeing this Jameson I wish I had one very great break-drowning
Thanks for watching Keino!
Perfect timing! Mine arrived today! 😂
Hope you enjoy it!
Love the videos. 👍👍👍
Thanks so much!
I'll be excited it to acquire one and get stuck into it, even more so after hearing your thoughts Matt. Cheers mate.
I think it'll be right up your alley Al! Not many whiskeys we can enjoy which are aged in our native oak!
@@TheWhiskeyNerd exactly - and that’s the cherry on top🥃
Great review. Again. I think I'll treat myself to a bottle
You should! It's really nice, but still a very easy sipper that you can enjoy a few glasses of without feeling guilty!

Interesting, if you don't like Pot Still whiskeys, then this might not be for you... definitely one to try before you buy!
that sounds really good cant wait to grab a bottle
Looking forward to seeing what you can come up with if you get a bottle!

Sounds good depending on price
I got it for €60, which is the same price as Green Spot and Redbreast, so you should expect to pay somethimg similar in your area!
@sidd finch thanks Sidd
Green Spot @ $70 in USA
@sidd finch Good point! So yeah, look for it at around the 40 mark at MoM, (or local equivalent).
I bought a bottle of this today for £27 in a shop in Croydon.
That's a great deal! Hope you enjoy it!
Ooh please tell us the shop in Croydon, as I can only find this for £51 online!
Seems interesting with so many varieties of virgin oak. Question. How does that compare to the Powers John's Lane?
