Mine was a 2003 model. The black headliner was a factory option, usually with the optional sunroof but not always. You can also swap the white carpet out for the golf mk4 carpet 3 or 5 door.
Also other common issues is the oil pickup pipe blocking.

Just bought one of these. Going from a fiat coupe 5 cylinder turbo. Then to a diesel for 3 years then to an 02 vrs. Fucking love it! Great to be in another petrol turbo after 3 years. Cant believe how quick they are. I bought mine with full decat miltek exhaust system. Lowered 40mm all round. New clutch. New turbo. New filters and fluids. Flushed injectors. all the big jobs done. And all the smaller ones you may not think that are relevant. 1300 pounds! Bargain! Oh and remapped by AMD to 230bhp. No traction in 2nd on a hot day with meaty tyres! The power delivery is completely different to the 5 cyl turbo I had. Hits you like a punch

At the time the car had already driven over 290.000km and luckely it was maintained well. Anyway I had the time of my life in the 4 months I could afford to own that beast of a beginners car. The only problems I ran into where a slipping clutch obviously my fault, a window meganism that broke and the transmission acting weird in verry rare situations.

The PCV piping gets oily and literally falls apart, have a look on my channel I uploaded a clip yonks ago on mine on the rollers, it had an eBay decat with a branded exhaust system, panel filter and mapped, I think it was around 220bhp - maybe my video has a better description- it was a while ago. The power was great but it was over before it started, wouldn’t have another. 25mpg - there’s much better cars out there, and £1,500 would buy you an absolute POS - in my opinion!

@@juicy6669 the truth is you cant mod anything on a tight budget, not properly anyway. the skoda dealers are shite lords n do not want to help. OE parts are outrageous prices. the engine is not from a golf (except anniversary edition, and you wont get one of those for £1500) After market bolt on parts just dont exsist, in my years of modding mine its mostly custom mods or BIG money for bolt on (example is downpipe they are £500+ n thats before any cat back system). i could seriously go on and on about it but they are solid cars and way faster than you would expect. (at 300 bhp im on my 3rd gear box.... lol )

I’m annoyed that’s he’s showed a dog crap version of the VRS. Much prefer an original oem example that’s actually been looked after.
Mine has the factory heated original seats (half white leathers), parking sensors and cruise control. Only thing missing is the xenons and sun roof to be fully spec’d out.
I’ve got a decat but it think I’ll just go for a sports cat so I can pass MOT. Currently running stage 2 r-tech with a twin pass intercooler for a stealth look. Can’t stand the way this one looks with the piping all over the engine.
I paid £1200, 90,000 miles and costs me £300 a year insurance with all mods declared. And I love it!

My mum has the estate version on a 2004 reg, currently on 210k miles (Was bought in 2006 on 17k miles), doesn't have heated seats or xenons but does have cruise, rear parking sensors and a sunroof. I've been thinking about buying off her in the near future, I think it'd be good fun!

@@BenSchofield These are great fun and the extra boot space is fantastic. Easy to mod and a simple R-Tech or Shark remap Stage 1 really give it's that extra grunt which should've been from the factory!
I've been after an estate version and missed out on a pefect one a little while ago. But I'll only buy a full spec'd one which is very hard to come by. But they are out there.

I've just bought one of these beauty today... Well happy! Got a bargain! Beautiful motor, full mot, 115k miles. Timing and water pump done at 95k... Runs like a dream, its completely standard so a decent Blank canvas. In red the best colour... Well pink as its all fading 😂 nothing a full t-cut won't solve...
Your right dude these are brilliant little family cars! I got a right bargain, great value for money cars!!
These with an exhaust and a cheeky stage 1 or 2 map (not stupid pop and bang map cos they run like shit with that done and getting pulled every 2 hours) 😂... Tell you something prices on these have shot up... Future modern classics these!

So gonna but a mk4 golf gti side exit on... They aren't too loud as I've still kept the cat... Very quick for old cars these, a lot nicer to drive then golf mk4's too
