  • 14 Characteristics of a Sigma Male | The Lone Wolf. There was a time when men were described as either being the Alpha Male or the Beta Male. Alpha Males, with their leadership qualities, strong confidence, and no-nonsense approach to life were at the head of the pack. Beta Males, eager to take orders and fall into line were the alternative. But the more we learn about people, the more we have discovered that there are variations of Alpha and Beta and a new type of personality is seeming to emerge. One that is neither Alpha nor Beta and is dancing to the beat of his own drum: Sigma Male. The Sigma Male is currently a hot topic in psychology and people are sitting up and paying attention to what this new personality type is doing in the world. Sigma Males have always been around, doing their own thing on the fringe of society. These are the rule breakers and makers. They get a lot of attention for good and bad things, but it’s what we don’t yet know about these personality types that keep people coming back for more.
    What is a Sigma Male?
A Sigma Male is a man who chooses to live his life outside of the normal social dominance hierarchy of society. Sigma males have similar traits to alpha males but prefer to walk to the beat of their own drum, and don’t often take orders from people or conform to society’s labels or systems. Sigma Males are the men who are riding off into the sunset on their horses without much more to their name than the pack on their back. They don’t need things from society the way other men do. They are often self-employed, traveling nomads who seek adventure and knowledge, rather than material goods and possessions. Sigma Males are not as far removed from society’s hierarchy as they would have you believe, and many of them don’t realize that they have an important role in the traditional hierarchical societies around the world. Sigma Males are often the ones who step outside their comfort zones, create amazing things, start businesses, are quiet and confident partners, and hard workers. While some people may think that Sigma Males retreat from society because they are lazy or don’t want to work, the opposite is true. They need time and space to craft their ideas and bring their dreams to life.

Sigma INFJ here. The more of these personality-type videos I see, the more I realize why I felt so misunderstood most of my life. To me, my outlook seems natural and right and even quite simple, but somehow it is so easily misunderstood by most people. Maybe because they are judging my behavior and assuming my motivations based upon what they know of Alphas and Betas.

I think there is a blood type connection to infj's. I know few and all of them are a negative. It's anecdotal but lots of infj's have a negative blood too. Not saying blood type is completely deterministic but I think it plays a role in infjs, sigma tendencies.

if you took an online personality test and are using 4-letter acronyms in conversations just STOP! Get some help. Come up out of the basement, step outside, get some fresh air, interact with REAL people (instead of thru a keyboard) and rejoin society.

    • @anwylhsm954
      @anwylhsm954 ปีที่แล้ว

@@josealexi5141 The MB typing is just another tool that provides language, that's all. It isn't gospel. It's a shorthand way of referring to people who process the world in certain ways and their behavior can be predictable based on that. It's accurate enough for those purposes.
I mean even you saying shit like "get some help" and "interact with real people" and "rejoin society" shows you have your head up your own ass and can't imagine that other people wouldn't see and process the world the way that you do. Some people don't enjoy "interacting with real people" because "real people" are judgmental twats with their heads up their own asses. What's funny, too, is that you're assuming he's a basement dweller because he spent two minutes leaving a comment and referred to a psychological tool and yet you're here scrolling through TH-cam comments yourself. Maybe you should get out of your own basement and leave people alone.

    • @josealexi5141

@@anwylhsm954 that's the problem now, Everybody needs to "feel special" and have a niche. "I'm a Sigma!" or "I'm an INFJ but with a head bulge and a left-hand-twist. You know, that's as rare as being born with fully developed breasts and 3 testes."

    • @anwylhsm954
      @anwylhsm954 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@josealexi5141 I can certainly agree with that. I don't like all the "labels" at all. Everyone wants to be a special snowflake and be given special treatment. My teen daughter told me that kids wear lanyards around with buttons of their pronouns and fake disorders on them. How sad is that? There's a Geico commercial, of all things, that made me laugh where that woman is like, "It turns out I'm an introvert. It's very rare."
With MB typing, though, if you take it for what it is and are aware there are only 16 very broad types, and that it's really more about perception and processing, it can be useful - like I said, with providing language and a small window into understanding different points of view. I married someone who is my polar opposite and we have a very hard time communicating sometimes and I was able to use the way that different people process information differently - using some of the language and terms as shorthand - and it does help us communicate. We don't use it as labels of course, it was actually more about the cognitive functions those types are based on and Jung's theories. For example, I had spent years trying to show him that I process from the outside in, filling in information as I go, and he processes from the inside out, in a thorough, linear way. He couldn't quite get the difference until reading up on it, where one way is referred to as an "intuitive" and the other way is referred to as a "sensor". Because of that the concepts solidified in his mind a little bit more and now he better understands why I get super impatient when he gets stuck on a detail, and why he gets lost and thinks that I'm all over the map. It's just armchair psychology.
But yes, if you go so deep into labels and acronyms and theories and things like that I think people get lost in it and can't see the forest for the trees, so to speak. It's important to "know thyself" and for some people who process in more unique ways reading up on these things can be very helpful in understanding why they might feel alienated or awkward. But labels can often get in the way of understanding yourself in any real way and instead you've just slapped on a bunch of superficial identifiers and you're more lost than you were to begin with. This is the entire issue with Gen Z in my opinion.
Sorry for the Ted talk. Lol

Hey man, I'm in my late 20's & just came to a deep realization about something; the ego. It seems to me that most of our actions & feelings is solely based off of our egos. Ever since I "destroyed" my ego, I feel as if no one can offend me even if they tried to. If I'm going to be offended about something, that's because I'm allowing myself to be offended. Or if I feel insecure about something, that's because I'm allowing myself to feel insecure; no one else. See, the ego can be a bitch to deal with if you let it go unchecked. Look at people who carry a lot of pride (this could be about anything), they tend to have fragile egos & go crazy when you "insult" them. I think one can still feel any emotion (to a certain degree) without letting your ego take over. It used to get under my skin when someone would do something to me in order to rattle me one way or another. Now I'm not phased by it. Perhaps it's a stoic practice that I unintentionally came to pick up. Anyway, didn't mean to make this long.

I never felt like I fit into Alpha or Beta. This was 100% relatable:
    - I'm a successful Artist / freelance game dev. (I pursued an unconventional, high risk field to feel purpose).
    - I'm an huge introvert, a lone wolf, silent, I left the city to live in the country side and be around nature.
    - I've never wanted to compete with others. Big house? Fast cars? Hot Girlfriend? I'm happy for you, and I'm not competing.
    - I've looked for purpose, not money / conventional success. "success" to me is not an expensive condo in a prestigious city.
    - When I'm at an interview / meeting new people, I don't wonder if they like me, but if I like them.
    - A lot of my views don't fall into the status quo, I'm a free thinker and formulate nuanced views on things.
    - I haven't been motivated my women, as*, b*obs, s*x. It's always been about a lasting connection that I would actually allow into my sacred space.
    - My solitude is sacred, it's time for me to grow, introspect, nurture my creativity, it's the fuel that sustains my being.
    - I don't like to be in the spotlight / lead, I prefer to be the keystone / mastermind.
    - I don't care about impressing, nor with this comment.

Except for a few details this described how I think to perfection. The social parts of it blew me away especially as I have always kinda beat myself up over my dislike for formalities. I literally stopped in my tracks while listening many times as I was hearing words spoken that described me in a way that was dead on exactly right but that my mind had never mapped out and understood. I just can't describe how much it hits home. The super complimentary parts I can't/won't claim as a perfect description of me....no not at all.....but the mindset, the independence of thought, the complete rejection of hierarchy, the desire to be fair to everyone as best I can in whom I might show attention or have conversation, the fearlessness of the Alpha and the confidence to take charge if necessary.....all of it is me. Amazing.

Your I, is in effect natural stealth. Save’s you from many social pains I endure as it’s extremely tiring for me to be continuously quite.
I can only be extremely quite when selling. Aka when the pay 💰off is worth the strong suppression.

You may think you have main character energy and that all the 'people around them who aren't being themselves' are subconsciously jealous of how authentic they are. But you literally have no idea what people are thinking. Chances are, unless your distinctively attractive, people wont give a shit about you. Yes you can turn heads if your confident, dress/act a certain way are unique or whatever - but that doesn't give you this strange sigma male status, which means youre above everyone else.

I wasn't in the woods, but not many knew I lived off grid in a giant willow tree a hundred yard from a big trashy homeless camp. Last summer was the best summer of my life! With very little money, built a camp inside a giant willow tree that had 11 hugebranches coming off the trees trunk, it hid a 10 × 10 with room to spare, had 5 × 6 deck, that you walk out on one of the branches to the hammock, next the the DVD shelf. A camp shower on a pully with 3 panels that fit into holes made of pipe in the ground. Water tank hooked up to 1/2 inch tubing. That ran to the solar shower bag. That is only half of the camp description.

If you are young, don't swear this crap. Alpha, Beta, and even this - none has roots in science. Generalizations...at least the first two. This is way over the top and stupid.
You should carve your own path. But do not exclude making friends and having shared experiences - you will regret that one day. I am a solo guy, but man do I love my small friend group. This video is not to be followed. If you get awkward at the idea of making buddies or asking a chic out, just remember - no one is going to kill, arrest, or bother you for being friendly. Most people want to see others succeed and we all show our ass at some point. We throw dirt on it ans keep trying.
As for chics, we all get rejected - alphas get rejected and I know a ton of introverted guys with families. This video is not an excuse to give up. Alphas look good at this because they bounce back and continue trying. A rejection is just a chic saying no - they are strange and make bad decisions all the time. Meet a chic build commonality, let her get comfortable and be direct but do not push a chic when its time for move making - simple. The internet is going to ruin us all.

Sigma is just a hyped up way if saying basement dwelling pansy boi.
I'd even be willing to bet the person who started to normalize the Sigma ideology was a pint sized half twit mama's boy with he physical stature of an athletic female... not quite muscular, but a little more robust than straight out feminine. Probably even has a fashion sense caught somewhere between wearing combat boots as a fashion statement, but with girlie silky-lace panties worn secretly under his skin tight skinny jeans.
There's leaders, and followers in the animal kingdom, nothing in between except for those thrown out of the herd, and human are animals too. Those thrown from the herd are usually sick, deformed, or have some other type of condition which puts the rest of the herd in danger should it be allowed to stay.
Alphas and Betas, period. That's what there is, nothing more. Those claiming to be Sigma are literally admitting that they lack any criteria matching that of a leadership quality, and their personalities are too submissive for anyone to be willing to see them as leaders, even from if not directly related to, an animalistic perspective.

    • @Wolfhiemer
      @Wolfhiemer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@john.wick1 That is a patently false characterization of the animal kingdom. At best, it's a gross oversimplification. Humans are animals, and tigers are animals, and mollusks are animals, and so on and so forth. Are you clam? Fuck, I don't know, possibly. But more importantly, if you consciously use this nebulous, binary caste system as your compass for navigating the complexities of human social interaction and civilization, then you might actually be deserving of it. Anyone referring to the Alpha-Beta concept seems unable to resist framing themselves as some fundamental part of society, and without them the world would cease to exist as they know it. Their world in fact would. Because their life seems to only have meaning to them if it has meaning to others.
This is just a 20 minute video of some guy masturbating, muttering under his breath about how everyone from high school was wrong and he's just so dark and misunderstand. "Some day I'll show them, they just don't get me!" It's a neurotic contrarian with a Christ complex. Maybe you just have bad social skills and rather than making an effort to work on it, you adopt it as a personality. You're Jerry wearing his shirt backwards saying, "I like this way." Maybe you don't do things others do so that they'll notice you and think you're different, which you confuse with interesting. Maybe you're a worse person than you give yourself credit for.
And that's okay. So many would rather build an entire house ifIt's okay to be normal. Most people are not secret, mysterious geniuses. They die shitting themselves in obscurity with little wealth to their name surrounded by anyone that was able to tolerate them for their very human flaws, and appreciate their very human qualities. And they're lucky to have that, as many people pass away with even less. It's okay to live a human life. You're both more and less special than you think you are. You don't have to change the fucking world. Try living with the truth first.
It's heartbreaking how normalized the act of constant self-obsession has become. Thinking about yourself this much is a slow, lonely poison. The world is a vast, interesting place, and yet too many spend life inside their head, with only themselves for company.
No wonder they tend to create such grandiose interpretations of themselves.

It feels pretentious to want to wear the title "sigma male" but this video stirs a deep connection with me. I've always detested the dickish ways of alphas, but the role as a beta is unacceptable. I moved around alot as a child, was often the new kid, always felt a sense of loss of things that I acquired over time but would lose when uprooted. Hard work makes me feel close to God, I like to put all of myself into my endeavors and even when I'm exhausted I like to muster my strength and persevere. In workplace environments I like to talk to my superiors as tho I am their equal, and I address outcasts and bottom feeders as tho they are my own equals. It is a trait that has served me well over the years because those at the top of the hierarchy respect me for putting myself on their level when I communicate. Those towards the bottom of the pyramid remember that I treated them the same way I treated everyone else and that has also served me well. Thank you for this video because it makes me feel a bit more at home in this world that has often left me feeling as tho a place has never really existed "for me"

@@deuntaithomas4823 its about pretending you're special because you've settled into mediocrity. Genuinely just get some hobbies and meet people. This shit is going to stunt your ability to act rationally for a long time

This is the perfect video so far about Sigma traits. Infact a perfect video about personality traits. The tonality, music, content and elaboration. Well done.

Wow!!! Eye opening. The fact that a Sigma male can act like a alpha if needed, but would prefer not too. I always wondered why I felt that way.

Definitely me! Not exactly, but about 85% for sure. I'm glad there's a section that describes me. There's probably subsections that haven't been discovered because I'm rather
    1. Very vocal
    2. Very black and white morally
    3. Emotionally intune and very romantic

I remember when men were those who stood their ground.Who opened the doors for others. Who used charm and manners to move thorough life. A firm hand shake,
A look in the eye, a word kept and a chair put in for their partner in a restaurant and who loves with a heat of a burning sun..We see how men are supposed to be now but they look weak and are wishy washy.
Lets show the world who we are.

      well...
..people, men.... aswell as women trye to live within their groups (at work, at home, at school, at the bus stop, around all kind of social situations) and don't want to bother assasing every situation and reacting acording to their personality; it easyer to have a (thin) mask on and use that all the time.
but yes, it makes pople more bland (blend/bland in, do you?)... and there you have it, the norm.
and everything that sticks out of that.. if even a little is labled, often as "abnormal", which is a shame really.... but we can't help ourselves. we are (ever so slightly) fake, so we expect that from others aswell; when you don't, you're basically a trator.
but hey.... fuck 'm! as long as I (or you) and live good with me (or you).. it's all good, no? it doesn't mean we should all jsut do as we like, that's what the phrase is for"don't do onto others......" oh right, you americans do it the other way around, no?).
a little respect carries a long way and a lot of respect even further; despite that you can't really buy anything with it (well.. maybe some counter-respect) ;- )

Wow,I I've needed this video in this moment I'm in....for so long I knew I wasn't an alpha and wasn't a beta but never knew about Sigma, so my whole life I had to choose which characteristics to be which often time I chose alpha, even though it didn't quite feel right. I've been so fd up trying to figure out who I am and why I don't relate to either alpha or beta. Turns out, I've been a Sigma all along, I've just been lost in between two worlds I was forced to choose from when my category wasn't known to me. Man, what a relief this video was...

*True, Alpha's and Sigma's have a mutual respect for each other, one that Beta's aren't privy too, nor one they truly understand.*

  • @GeneralGouda

A sigma male is just as aggressive as an alpha, a sigma is just as strong as an alpha, the only difference is.. he doesn’t need the validation from society. He’s the one that can take down the beast, and avoids the attention afterwards. He’s the one causing problems for the alpha, making the alpha nervous. The sigma knows he can run the pack, but doesn’t wish to control anyone. He lives for himself and the few he cares about (which is very few). He values loyalty above all.

And free will. Feared by alpha for alpha leads by force, sig’s lead by example. In other words, sig’s are chosen leaders whilst not wanting to lead, alpha’s goals are to lead, in any way. Which is funny in itself; sig’s never strive to dethrone an alpha…. But alpha’s do feel threatened in their position.

I knew I wasn't crazy. As I travel through life I wondered why I was the way that I was, Yet I stayed true to it. After realizing my type, I saw things as they are and became comfortable with myself and how I move. If you are a sigma too or can learn how please embrace it and just do it. You are to be as an arrow moving through the earth. It does not care what is in its way, only the target and the journey to that point.
