Octane booster works for lowering k.control and turning your spark plugs orange and i know you dont have E85 anywhere near you, but ive heard that Madditive from VP doesnt foul plugs as badly.
Whats up with the E85, i read online and people were saying it wouldn’t really do much if anything for our TLs and that its not worth it. But i haven’t researched any further than that.
@user-bi2me1kj7p you would definitely need a tune for that, and our cars aren't meant to handle that without upgrading the fuel pump and lines if I'm correct. I follow a guy whose runs E on his 4G but he keeps going through fuel pumps.
@@RevsALot Do you know the gains he got from it? because like i said when i researched it people were saying it gave next to nothing. Ill probably look further into it but i find it hard to believe it wont give a decent increase.
Yes, I need a tune asap. The bad thing is we only have 91, so this will help me gain a little more whp if I gey tuned with it. I'll probably get a 91 tune, and a VP Racing Octanium tune.
Get a catch can and vent to atmosphere that will also help with the preignition. Those octane boosters all have MMT it will foul the plugs if you use it constantly
I don't mind changing the plugs, we only have 91 octane here. So, it's not the best. I need to find a install video for a catch can on the j37 to he able to learn how to do that.
@JustanothaTL yah, but the J35 is slightly different I believe. It's got different hoses then the j37 from what I could tell from the videos I've seen.
Question, to get gains from the increased octane you would need a tune for that specific octane number correct? Say if you’re tuned for 91 and you put in 93. Would it make a difference or only if you’re running a tune for 93?
It would help a bit, but a tune would benefit the most from it. There's cars that run 87, and when you put 93 it'll put down more power to the wheels without a tune.
I've used it multiple times before, but had stopped for a bit. After seeing the knock control always through the roof I switched back and she seems to love it.
I wouldn't know how to do that unless I could see step by step instructions or video. I'm learning as a I go, this is the first car I've ever worked on.
Marvel mystery oil does work. I used it in a ‘06 equinox, ‘88 tracer, ‘01 grand marquis, ‘13 sorento 2.4 GDI , ’98 explorer , ‘10 cobalt 2.2. Nothing but awesome results. I used it for 7 yrs without an issue.

At least spark plugs are cheap and easy to change. I'll try the Maddative, but it is triple the price unfortunately.

@user-bi2me1kj7p I'd say it would depend on mods, and how it's tuned. I'm guessing anywhere from 5-15whp.
I have my 3rd gen type s tuned on 93/94. Knock control sits between 0-0.05 very little k control if you can adjust your tune to your gas

Garret media gas one for his mdx j35 with direct ignition

@@RevsALotbro it is just a catch can trust me it will run better and you will regret not doing sooner. Picture in my community of my catch can

Have you used Shell 93 yet? It just became available in my area over this summer. It's amazing!
We only have 91 unfortunately
@@RevsALot damn that sucks! It'll probably be available soon. Esso has 93 and it's also good.
Hey what app and OBD2 dongle are you using to monitor knock?
It's ktuner v1.2 using Tunerview app on an old Android
Finally took my advice!
I've used it multiple times before, but had stopped for a bit. After seeing the knock control always through the roof I switched back and she seems to love it.
@RevsALot
Yeah some cars can pull timing badly when they don't like the octane being given
what app are you using?
Ktuner v1.2 paired to tunerview app
Kmotor makes a nice pcv delete with an AN6 fitting

That stuff doesn't raise the octane numbers though from what I briefly read online.

It doesn't raise octane is my point though. We have crappy 91 octane, mystery oil won't turn it to 93+ like octane booster does.
