Can't figure out how I missed that. I even had a picture of the deck list in the video. Here you all go. tappedout.net/mtg-decks/derevi-lockdown-stax-into-overun/ There is a link in the description to.
I just built your current list that is linked, few observations: - Wondering why Knight of reliquary is in there? - wondering why we play kataki, and winter orb? Bit of a nonbo? - wonder why there isn't more, cheaper interaction and counter spells? I'm yet to play test, Just feels like we could be more optimised if we're going to be competitive. Even mental mistep etc. I've built it using Elesh Norn on the top end along with Craterhoof, and also sun titan for redundancy and to close it out faster
Hi! Please forgive me for such a necro posting. But I wanted to give you some insight. I have played Derevi stax for about 5 years now. The deck has changed a lot due to normal cEDH meta, my play group and stores meta, and mulligan changes. So I feel Inhave some insight on the topic. I used to run Kataki but not anymore. It is an AMAZING CARD. It essentially kill artifact decks. (Similar to how Aura Shards hoses down artifact decks) Besides that. cEDH and Even some high power edh decks run a lot of early game mana. Chrone Mox, Mox Diamond, Mana Crypt, Lion's Eye Diamond, sol ring etc. Kataki prevents players from keeping these rocks or by slowing them down heavily. Making them have to tap said artifacts to pay for themselves to exist. (Or their lands) Same idea with strong cards. Say your opponent is also playing derevi or another deck and has early artifacts or it's late game and they have a lot of artifacts. Kataki will make them waste resources just to keep said mana. Winter orb does not hinder you. At no point in time should both Kataki and orb be out unless you are in a winning position and you need Kataki to pop or stax your opponent. ( you play orb usually when a controll player is tapped out or most players are almost tapped out. Or you can play it when you have fast and famine equipped or when you have seedborn muse in play.) As for interaction all decks are different. I run a small interaction/counterspell package. This is because my derevi deck is more of a toolbox/stax deck. It slaps mana dorks and early game mana rocks out then sets up stax pieces or combo pieces. The deck has so much recursion that baiting your opponents counters or kill spells is usually irrelevant, gives you knowledge of what else they may be running, makes them lose a card, and allows you to reanimate your combo pieces and set up additional combos during the same or following turn. If you play the deck right, most of your games will be an arch enemy game and other players will spend the early game dealing with your bullshit rather than trying to combo off and win. Sorry for the essay and any grammatical errors... I'm a lil drunk and wanted to drop knowledge for you or anyone else who reads this. If you want good decklist examples this video alone is a good example. I recommend googling Bird Wizard 2.0 or Derevi, She who knows 10,000 things. The first one is a very strong full out stax deck the relies on beats to win. The second one is a toolbox deck with a stax package that has lots of infinite and scales well. The lands can use some fine tuning tho. Have a great night everybody ❤ please stay safe during these timea.
@@TheBreadedCatt great response. I ended up playing Derevi quite extensively. I found the best build to be the bird wizard build - i simply tweaked it to be much more of a tempo build. I ran 10-13 counter spells, full suite of stax and lots of hate bears (tool box) Its about incremental value with derevi tempo, getting ahead inch by inch. Still played elesh norn on the top end, but also had things like capsize and snapcaster Mage. Buying back capsize with a seedborn muse down is backbreaking when you get to bounce a permanent each turn. I transitioned derevi into Najeela recently. Dropped the wizard package, added the Najeela package along with oracle/consultation lines. Still running all the removal and counters. Najeela is so much stronger than derevi i have found. As she wins just on her own if there arent blockers, while theyre distracted with her, you resolve a win con like Derevi abd combo out. Or back up onto thassas oracle line. More versatile overall. With derevi, it was always arch-enemy. I do miss activating yisan to bring in a hushbringer to shut off some etb effect lol
I just wanna let you know, if you haven’t realized already, that Derevi cannot untap a creature equipped with Sword of Feast and Famine because they have protection from green. So with the Stasis/Orb of Dreams lock out you would have to have at least 1 other untapped creature that will be able to connect for it to work.
Derek Albanese I think I forgot to mention that you need to move THE sword around. Derevi untaps another creature. Put THE sword On that One. That creature untaps derevi next turn and, yeay. Move THE sword around.
Is there any video of this deck in action?? a couple of questions: 1.- Why so low counters?? 2.- The main WinCon is the big froggy guy? is there any other form to win??
Hi mons: first... Amazing job i love your videos so much, you're very good explaining... Second... I want to build a derevi stax deck... Do You think is still viable ? Amy sugestións to build it??
Well that is a stax card. So it is within the right idea. But I don't think vorinclex would be so good vs my play group, to much spot removals. But if it is good vs yours then you are doing the correct thing.
Been wanting to build this for quite some time. Reluctant because I only get to play in tournaments which have a lot of turn 4 wins. No one wants to play casual in my meta. Looks fun though. Thanks for sharing.

would like this decklist! nice work. keep it up.
Thank you. Fixed

can there be a update of this deck with the new cards of Ravnica Allegiance
I have made some small changes on tapped out net.
I think seedborn muse is good for that deck? Its a good sybergy for stasis, winter orb, static orb, back to basics, captain sisay, yisan and shalai.
Hi mons: first... Amazing job i love your videos so much, you're very good explaining... Second... I want to build a derevi stax deck... Do You think is still viable ? Amy sugestións to build it??
Mana tithe? Then your opponents don’t do anything when you have stasis in play.
I tried running vorinclex in my derevi deck (which is fairly similar to his) and it worked pretty well, for me atleast.
Well that is a stax card. So it is within the right idea. But I don't think vorinclex would be so good vs my play group, to much spot removals. But if it is good vs yours then you are doing the correct thing.
Opposition is still a viable card for this deck??? What about drannit magistrate, collector ouphe?? Depends on the meta??
what would you say about a prossh and ghave cEDH deck teck? please say yes
I have always had planes on making a prossh food chain deck teck. I think it is a cool deck. So it is coming up. Don't know when tho.
nice would love to see it
deck list please. love the vids keep up the awsome work
Thank you I will!
deck list would be awesome.
Yes it would. Somehow I forgot. Even had a picture of it in the video but somehow I forgot. But all taken care of.

Really like this deck. Is there any way you can make an update video and a budget-friendly version?
hummm. I could put together something on tapped out net.
Time for an update
you might be right. that video is old.
@@cedhtv I would love an updated video, I just built derevi & I could always use more insight.
How do you feel about grand arbiter
its a good card! could be included.
Ill trade you a spore frog for that sword of feast and famine
Hmm I will think about it.
@@cedhtv sounds good 😃
Couldn’t you just auto win with time vault?
If that was legal yes.
cEDH TV oops. Didn’t even realize 🤣
Lavinia is also good in that deck
Yes but she didn't exist when I made this video :)
nice, but I don't play hate-cards (yet) so this strategy would not work for me
Dang. I was looking for a budget deck. And then linvala showed up.
hehe sorry.
