@Kahanamoku would you much rather take a tie or a loss? If you have half a hopper left, and your opponent has 3 pods left, and you stall the game and time runs out, that's worse than a loss? You can't redo a loss. You can redo a tie. A tie gives you another chance to win the game, as opposed to doing something stupid and losing.
thanks mike, this really does help a lot. The field I go to usually has 3man games going, and the past 2x ive been, ive picked up on some stuff. The info you told me just either confirmed it and gave me ideas.
@lilbleezy777 Either or is fine, they both have battery saving features so you can play multiple 45 min woodsball games with a fresh set a batteries and they both feed fast enough for speedball. I lean towards rotor because it is more compact (and in my opinion cooler looking lol) and it can be easily cleaned if it gets hit. But if your on a budget go for which ever you can find in better condition and cheaper used.
@enteringsumner dont hate man, the guy owns techpb. its a big paintball forum. the guys been playing since paintball was like.. invented. its for beginners anyway.
@lilbleezy777 Depends on how much paint you use. I love how the pinokio carries alot more paint but I personally like the rotor better. Its more reliable I've found. Sure you can be reloading more (if you have the extended nose on the pinokio) but the rotor is more reliable. So I would have to say rotor
@mrDxPhd What I learned from my first 3 man was to communicate. The quiet teams got out quickly. The more confident you are the better you're going to play. And remember to capture the flag!
Mike you should do a video on the NCPA. Even though our sport is going downhill in the national events, I am a firm believer that if we can get NCPA more out there and more professional then the sport will continue to grow.
@604912gj fail, the Angel A1 Fly is a poppet with an internal bolt, look it up if you dont believe me, you are correct about the Azodin Mike has though
They are more reliable than a Ninja, have a great warranty, and are cheaper. Plus Empire tanks are Pure Energy tanks. So if you see a Pure Energy Tank, and an Empire Tank, they are pretty much the exact same tank. But I use an Empire tank and they are cheap and work great. If you have any more questions you can comment back. -Jack
hey me and my friends are going to start a paintball team we have guns and have 7 people but we are probally only going to be doing 3s and 5s we are young (13-14) and how do you find a tournament for age cause we dont want to be playing people like 20 years older than us are there special leagues for younger players?
@Loujack526 there isnt a set speed, You just press the power button, on full battery it runs at 55 balls per second, then obviously that slows down as it runs out of battery
@wrestlemaniac202 umm, do the same thing? Pump isn't that different, at least not when it comes to speedball. Sure you can't shoot as fast, but the strategies remain the same (for the most part)
@tarzanc1 Go to your field, and ask about tournaments, or watch for flyers. Usually theres divisions, and most of the young kids stay in the lower divisions. Sometimes there is even a youth division, which is like 13 and under, but if I were you, I'd play with better players, because it'll force you to get better.
@wrestlemaniac202 Do the same exact thing. Sure, maybe you can't shoot as fast, but my friend and I (both pump players) can shoot people of the break, lane/sweet spot and play aggressive.
@wrestlemaniac202 as a player from total greif, my adice for pump is the opposite from mikes. OSC rules or not, end the games quick, 3 guns off the break. If you team is 3 alive, the snake is not a death trap, especially with thos big ol bricks. If your down bodies , avoid the snake. Always run with your gun up. Always be ready to play down a body. In pump play movement wins games. Most important thing of all, communication. Once its drop 1, your team should be ready to shut it down.
i agree with most things you say mike. but in a 3 man if u put a guy in the snake, the other team knows theyre gunna get him so it can act as a distraction. and as long as you dont shoot over the top you wont get hit just watch the tape and let the other 2 on your team take care of the guys shootign at you
You should come down to oasis paintball park down here in fort myers and do alittle pro-school for like $50 which includes a case of that premium u get for little to no cost. A few hours of talking and drilling and I know at least 5-10 people who will do it. Thats $250 in tha bag!
I have to disagree with that approach if its a beginner tournament (like a ton of 3 man tournaments are) If you can take the field really quickly, you'll put a lot of pressure on the other team. You'll have wiggle room to move around as needed and the other guys will be playing defense the whole time. As long as you don't make dumb mistakes and win gunfights, you can beat them pretty quick by just pressuring them.
@chris55268 nice educated response. It is just bad advice to tell people to sacrifice points in order to wear down the teams. Of course if you haven't made finals cause of a slow game you would never know.
it depends on youre skill...we played a 3 man tournament and ne win 18 from 20 games ...tactic was fast agressive less shooting and good field reading.
LOL This is kind of awkward, I did X-ball (tournament style but not a real tournament) 3 on 3 with my friends today and I was using snake every time LOL. That thing about paintballs bouncing onto the pods is totally right xD But I did at least get everyone else out before they got me. I felt bad for my friends because I was taking the other team out too fast for them (for once) Haha. I guess I was just lucky with the snake so I will keep using it for now.
so you say let the clock run out what if its points based? and say just for easy its 100 poitns 50 for hang 20 for pull 7 for being alive and 3 for kills and u finish the game a 2 on 2 the mean 14 for being alive and 3 for one kill verse if you play a little more aggresive got another kill and got the pull and hang i disagree with letting the clock run out
I respect his opinion as he has an assload more experience than i do, but in my first 3 man tourney we played defensivly and slow for 6 matches and we were destroyed. our last to we said f it and we played incredibly aggressive and we did much better than playing defensivly.also we had spyders ; ; and i had a pirahana gti without rampage board so i was shooting 5 bps at most.
whats with people and pure energy tanks?? i see a loooot of people on youtube only using those tanks, do they have something special?? is it better than a ninja?
i agree and disagree on some of this, yes play conservative, but you also dont want to let the other team get past the 50. and watch other teams. in my last 3 man tourney we had to play a different style for every team. and pump players, the team we played stayed around the 30-40 mark and long balled the hell out of every one
@Kahanamoku

Dear Mike,
I no longer play paintball but you videos kick ass so i still watch them =)
@MrPyroEnthusiast cheaped up version of a pinokio, the shell cracks easy, but it is decent. For the price though you can get the pinokio used.
@enteringsumner dont hate man, the guy owns techpb. its a big paintball forum. the guys been playing since paintball was like.. invented. its for beginners anyway.

awesome tips Mike thanks. I'm actually going to play a 3 man tourney in about 2 weeks, awesome timing with this video :)
@mrDxPhd What I learned from my first 3 man was to communicate. The quiet teams got out quickly. The more confident you are the better you're going to play. And remember to capture the flag!

@whatjamacallit did u just go like on the 9th, if so my team is Texas in Refuge
@604912gj fail, the Angel A1 Fly is a poppet with an internal bolt, look it up if you dont believe me, you are correct about the Azodin Mike has though
@TheMistyfilms
sweet, thanks for making room for the new group of subscribers. One leaves, 10 more replace him
Loving these informational vids, always enjoy them! thanks mike!
Can you do a review on hoppers and the speed loader caps for them
@PaintBallKid0563 He is actually wrong about the Angel (its a poppet with an internal bolt) but correct about the Azodin Mike has though.
all ive ever played is 3 man, this is really helpful info. thanks mike!
@TheMistyfilms i am a freak over Invert minis
Blitz (Maybe Zenith) and Pinokio I believe.
Thanks for the tips my tournament is next week, I'm using my Empire Axe
@Loujack526 there isnt a set speed, You just press the power button, on full battery it runs at 55 balls per second, then obviously that slows down as it runs out of battery
wht setup iss that? is that the azodin blitz and spyder fasta?
if i am entering a 3 man tourny with a 3 min limit how many pods should i bring... Im thinking 5
@wrestlemaniac202
umm, do the same thing?
Pump isn't that different, at least not when it comes to speedball. Sure you can't shoot as fast, but the strategies remain the same (for the most part)
mike what gun do you have in your hand
@paintball234969 alright ill see you at texas if you play tournament ball
Pinokio or Rotor for Ego 07 (Speedball and Woodsball)
Mike, do you play tournaments or just rec ball?
ohh thanks and the regulators?? are they as good as ninjas?
what gun is that your holding in this video mike?
@tarzanc1 Go to your field, and ask about tournaments, or watch for flyers. Usually theres divisions, and most of the young kids stay in the lower divisions. Sometimes there is even a youth division, which is like 13 and under, but if I were you, I'd play with better players, because it'll force you to get better.
ever think of starting a camp mike?
Is there gun requirements for tournaments? Like my friend wants to do a tournament but only has an azodin kaos. Is that aloud?
He can afford better stuff just doesnt have it yet...but thanks for the info
***** Also my question was "is there a gun requirement for tournaments?"
No u can use a autococker or a pump in the 2015 psp rule book u can look at all the rules online.
hey, kinda curious, what size tank is that? 68, 4500?
@wrestlemaniac202 Do the same exact thing. Sure, maybe you can't shoot as fast, but my friend and I (both pump players) can shoot people of the break, lane/sweet spot and play aggressive.
mike dam you read my mind!! ple realese all the tip vids or 3man tournament, its our first time and we need practice before the tourney
@larryjerry1 at 1:41 i'm pretty sure thats exactly whats hes saying
i am setting up a team and this is helping a bunch
nice azodin blitz i have 1 to and im new to paintball
sweet thanks. doing a 3 man this march. first tourny! young guns. more tips? on young guns?
@NXnickXN1
he's not saying let the clock run down. there's a difference between being conservative and hiding.
@TheMistyfilms yea i agree
@wrestlemaniac202

mike, are you using an angel??
@wrestlemaniac202 Yeah really. Move up as far as you can, I like snake for pump although mike said not to do that.
k heres my question: would u still be yelling while ur moving up the field? cuz if u yell ur giving ur position away.
@dkdavid721
BlitzKrieg, in Tampa, FL
what gun was he holding in this video?
yAY tourny coming up soon and this helps and ass load
Mike, If you ever run a clinic, I'll drive to tampa just to attend!
@TheMistyfilms i agree
Great tips!!
@nam1971 smart idea
@arturr03 you can't really practice for 3 man, just practice individual skills and communication
my team is playing in a month. this is going to help us thanks.
i agree with most things you say mike. but in a 3 man if u put a guy in the snake, the other team knows theyre gunna get him so it can act as a distraction. and as long as you dont shoot over the top you wont get hit just watch the tape and let the other 2 on your team take care of the guys shootign at you

@chris55268 keep it up you are really helping to prove your point of me being incorrect. Keep it up buddy you are gonna go far kid.
tbh u can play 3 man however fast you like as long as you dominate i like to start slow and build it up
I have to disagree with that approach if its a beginner tournament (like a ton of 3 man tournaments are) If you can take the field really quickly, you'll put a lot of pressure on the other team. @Radamsgp007 Azodin is a blow back....not a poppit. Sorry.
In a tournament scene decided points a tie is still a "win". That's some real good advice there. Face palms
mike you need to make a paintball info book or something
HRL IN KATY, TEXAS all games are 1 minute and less we do not sit around we play paintball
@TheMistyfilms why do u hate, he is just trying to help people with paintball. I dont see you doing that
He plays D2 and Rec.
SluggFacedTroll a tie is a win in Mike's book. Or just shoot a case a game and don't stop
Mike why are you such a Boss? Is it the haircut?
well its 3man xball pretty much everyone plays the same way, d side works really good
thanks
@chris55268 nice educated response. It is just bad advice to tell people to sacrifice points in order to wear down the teams. Of course if you haven't made finals cause of a slow game you would never know.
@stainsquinn i dont put in any effort to my channel i don't sit on the computer all day
it depends on youre skill...we played a 3 man tournament and ne win 18 from 20 games ...tactic was fast agressive less shooting and good field reading.

@TheMistyfilms so i dont play tournament paintball because i would rather trust mike over you? whats wrong with his new vids?
so you say let the clock run out what if its points based? and say just for easy its 100 poitns 50 for hang 20 for pull 7 for being alive and 3 for kills and u finish the game a 2 on 2 the mean 14 for being alive and 3 for one kill verse if you play a little more aggresive got another kill and got the pull and hang i disagree with letting the clock run out
what would be alot of paint...per person
why are you using a pure energy tank instead of a ninja :(
had some 3 man speedball games, average time was generally under a minute.
@TheMistyfilms you must be from pb nation...
i agree and disagree on some of this, yes play conservative, but you also dont want to let the other team get past the 50. and watch other teams. in my last 3 man tourney we had to play a different style for every team.
and pump players, the team we played stayed around the 30-40 mark and long balled the hell out of every one
me and my freinds have a 3 man team and we play fasssst and win all the time we have only lost like 4 games
play slow? what if the time limit is 3 minutes??
ya its actually a good gun im getting one
@TheMistyfilms Pbnation follower
@604912gj ooooo.......didnt see that :) thanks
this would have been helpful last weekend lol. just 4 days too late mike :( but still keep making great video's mike!
Omg! If your new to 3 man. Do the opposite of this video or your getting blown up.
press pause, play and hold down 2
message me i have some questions plz. thank you
What about us pump players?
1:31 for great justice
Nice video - I'd see a tie as a loss too.
In my books a tie is a loss
I disagree get in the snake quick and have a guy shoot snake side for you. Dorito player gets up field fast off break
It depends, but I am going to send you a personal message because it is too long for the comment box. Thanks!!! -Jack
