I go to Cal and it has been the dopest experience of my life. Cal is such an awesome place to be, it really is. The only way you can have a bad time is if you make it a bad time for yourself. If you isolate yourself and study for 24 hours a day, of course its not going to be fun. There is so much culture around this place, and so many things happening everyday. Walking through campus is like a movie, there's always something going on. Its easy to turn a blind eye and just stick to your schedule especially at a school as academically hard as Cal, but it is so easy to get involved and explore everything it has to offer. The people that come here expect that friends, fun, and the best experience will just come to them if they sit around. That is the type of mindset that will make your college experience lame. Be fun wherever you go, dont wait for it to come to you.
Getting into Berkeley is the easy part (and it's really hard to get into; most people can't do it), but getting through Berkeley is literally like purgatory.
I did go. And I don't know if it's harder than UCLA as I didn't go to UCLA. Also, different people with different backgrounds/upbringings, different life situations while they're in college, and different responses to different stresses and pressures are all features that have to be considered when asking someone which school they think is "harder." One important feature to also consider is the major for sure (i.e. CS is way fucking harder than History (sorry not sorry)), no matter what school you go to. So that variable has to be held constant when asking people which school is harder. Which program is harder may be the more appropriate question. I got accepted to UCLA though; I know a few people who got into Berkeley and not UCLA, but I also know a few people who got accepted by UCLA and not Berkeley. I believe UCLA is now tied for the #1 public university rank in the world, for whatever that's worth....? (Nothing once you're out of college working.) I have friends who went to UCLA. It's rigorous too. But the mood there is generally more positive. Could be the weather. Could be the sport-y atmosphere. Could be the fact that UCLA doesn't have nut-so, left-wing, extremists that are polluting UC Berkeley and the city of Berkeley in general.
Lol I've seen a lot of these brutally honest videos on Berkeley. Maybe the competition is so high they're making videos to scare prospect students away.
Hi,I'm accpeted in UC davis for Geotechnical Engineering MS Program. But, UC Davis seems like not so famous comparing with UCLA, UCSD. I hope i can hear more information about it rather than the ranking from a native students' view.
思源 吴 UC Davis is an amazing school! I honestly love it! I was there this weekend to visit some friends. Although the rep isn’t at the absolute top, honestly at the end of the day it is not about the rep of the school. Ucdavis is such a friendly and happy school, & I would completely recommend it for anyone !
Dont think about the name, think about their geotechnical engineering programs as each school & then determine which one is the best! Also take into consideration the vibe of the school, location, campus, etc. I recommend visiting the campuses before you SIR :-)
I'm going to be attending Berkeley starting this fall. I thought your video was helpful in getting me prepared. Do you have any advice for someone who's moving from SoCal to NorCal? It's the first time being so far from all my family
Leave your car at home. Parking is nonexistent and expensive! Get to know your professor at office hours and make sure your advisors become your best friends!
Hi! Thank you so much for this video! It's awesome! Could you tell which university education is better for the future career as a Marketing Manager (Marketing Director) in the USA: Harvard or UC Berkeley? Maybe you can advice more valuable educational program? - Certificate Program in Marketing at UC Berkeley Extension, - Master degree in Marketing at UC Berkeley, - Full-Time MBA at UC Berkeley, - Marketing Management Certificate Courses at Harvard, - Management Degree at Harvard? I have a Bachelor degree in Advertising and 6-year work experience as a Client Service Manager at digital advertising agencies in Russia.
If you could turn back time, would you have chosen to attend another university you were accepted into, rather than UC Berkeley? Also, could you perhaps rate your overall Cal experience on a scale of 1 to 10? Thanks, and keep up the fantastic work on your channel! :) And good luck next semester!
Thanks Melissa! I would 100% have chosen Berkeley again, no doubt about it. I met some amazing people here and have had amazing classes, professors, and lectures. I always feel so privileged to be at this University, and it was truly a dream come true for me. On a scale of 1-10, I would say 8. The only down part is the protestors and sensitive people lol, but I'm, not one who gets tangled in those things and just stay working on my education.
Hi there, I am thinking of doing summer school in UC Berkeley this year but I've never been in the US before so I'm not exactly sure how the culture and living environment is like. I was hoping you could shed some light into this with regard to safety, leisure activities outside of school, dorm living environment etc.? Thank you so much!
Summer school in Berkeley is intense but most international students love it. I lived at the International House and I felt very safe walking to and from campus. Yes it's a city so there is crime but as long as you watch your surroundings and know where you're going you should be ok. I definitely suggest carrying pepper spray. Leisure activities are a must! I strongly recommend walking around downtown San Francisco or Berkeley just to get away from campus and see something new.Clubs are also great.
When you come to Berkeley your expected to be a leader. You are the top 5% of the whole applicant pool. Your in the big leagues. In my freshemen dorm everyone was valedictorian. Your classmates are the best in the country and the world. You will be stressed, you will have to grow, you will be expected to go hardcore. Berkeley is a hardcore school. Its not the typical party life college that is chill and smoke weed like everyone thinks. If you cant take it there is an endless line of other students waiting to take your place.
Yes and no I would say. It's more that people are trying to measure you up every chance they get. It's common to be asked where you interned for the summer not because they truly care about you but because they want to see if you are measuring up to what they think is acceptable and or trying to compare themselves to you. I found the environment there very toxic.
study groups within classes, clubs, and internships mainly. Berkeley as I experienced it was difficult and at times felt impossible but what helped me most were my friends back home and my advisors who were incredible and really helped me get through the hardest times.
Well I've been talking people out of going to Berkeley, and to be honest my brother almost thought of going there but feared of being outcastes and lynched because his views were more conservative and yet you guys don't seem to welcome people like us why is that??? I'd like an answer
DanR well considering the president threatened to take Berkeley's tax payer funding for not complying to first amendment rights whenever any right wing speaker comes and the leaders cower to Antifa. And I know not all are like the whiners we see on tv, but many don't bother speaking up so many outside Berkeley assume all people are like that. As for other colleges it's starting to see more that demand safe spaces which is why Denis Prager and Adam Carolla made their tour to teach a generation of precious snowflakes
I go to UC Berkeley and I kind of agree. This is not to say that there aren’t any conservative students, but I feel that they’re not as outspoken as the liberals. I think the school could benefit from more conservative students enrolling to diversify intellectual thought on campus. Another thing is that the Bay Area is historically very liberal so a lot of the students/locals flock to the area because of this.
Jeff lee, you have anything nicer to say bro, or you just like to go around and think that's how people feel. Are you depressed,if you are you need Jesus I can lead you to know Jesus if you want :)

Overall it's just the mindset. As long as you try to be positive minded, any place will light up your path.

letters and science
Can you please guide me in the application process for the UCB
Office hours is a tool and you should use it.
Study is the culture at a university. What a terrible state of affairs.
I'm going to be attending Berkeley starting this fall. I thought your video was helpful in getting me prepared. Do you have any advice for someone who's moving from SoCal to NorCal? It's the first time being so far from all my family
Paloma Olmos yeah me too
Yea I'd also like to know. As I'm from SoCal as well and I'm thinking about transferring to Berkeley
Leave your car at home. Parking is nonexistent and expensive! Get to know your professor at office hours and make sure your advisors become your best friends!
@@elcuhhh8761 I transferred. It was tough. I recently graduate. Shoot me some questions!

Raelene Leong hey raelene, I will make a video addressing these issues soon
If I were you I'd get out of Berkeley because of all the snowflakes ❄️ and how they are huge hypocrites when it comes to free speech

Does ucb offer any kind of scholarships for students not from the States?
Yes. When I got in as an undergrad, they gave highly exceptional out of state students $20,000 of aid a year. Not sure if it's the same anymore...

Can you keep pets in dorms at Cal?
I think you need a special accommodation for that, I am not sure about the regulations on that. would be awesome though lol
Yes if you have an emotional support letter or your animal is a service animal.
my sister is currently at davis. What's your major?
I am a Public Health major
2:37 is that pastor sam😂😂 “Hello!!”

Berkeley sounds crappy. How does anyone makes friends there? It sounds lonely af.
