    Goddamn Tim, people used to get burned at the stake for that kind of magic. My favorite thing you do is bring a wonderful balance to all the cymbals you work on. The consistency between the Mods and your own cymbals despite size or weight is really impressive.

    I love the ending lower pitch...while I can still hear that 'shimmer' it seems much more mellow and more in the 'background'....incredible work.

    Sounds more like a K Con Power ride, it sounds heavier than my 22" Paiste 2002 ride. Amazing mod you did here, Cheers!

    This, to my ears, is a perfect mod. Exactly what this particular cymbal needed to be truly effective across a multitude of musical styles, and definitely able to be used in small-venue gigs all the way up to larger performing spaces. Great, great work. I’ve got to contact you soon about a similar mod of my K Con.

    I like what you did with it, my own ride could do with drying out, but duct tape will have to do and international shipping isnt cost effective.

    I’d like to see you work on a budget cymbal. Zildjian scimitar , Serbian B eight ,something on those lines would you and be interesting

    I know this is an older video so some more insight on this process would be awesome because it seems like my perception of hammering already formed B20 cymbals is wrong now. Idk in my experience with cymbal modding and seeing a few other people modifying B20 years and years ago, it would always yield cracking where the hammer marks were. Whereas B8 responded well to hammering which is why when I did rehammering I would go for B8 or brass or on occasion some old Nickel Silver cymbals. I never had good experiences with rehammering B20 so the fact that you got good and probably long lasting results is really cool but confusing to me.

    • @ReverieDrumCo
      @ReverieDrumCo  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've probably rehammered over 1500 b20 cymbals at this point, and as long as you have good anvil contact (and the metal isn't compromised) the cymbal will be ok. Even old bronze can fairly workable via cold-forming.

      @@ReverieDrumCo Appreciate the response on this! My setup def wasn't professional nor were my techniques really there yet so I image that's why my results were never good compared to yours. Your videos are making me want to get back into modding. I have a semi hammered blank collecting dust that I'd love to actually make into something usable.

    Great if you could mod cheaper B8 Paiste cymbals (Alpha, PST5 & PST7) and make them sound like 2002's. Please explain the differences between these cymbal lines and the 2002's.

    • @ReverieDrumCo
      @ReverieDrumCo  ปีที่แล้ว

      The B8 stuff has a higher copper to tin ratio, which means the metal is softer and more malleable. This translates into a less resonant and musical sound in general. The tin gives the alloy a brittleness that also equates to tone and sustain. Because of that, B8 material is much more limited when it comes to mods. They tend to sound hollow and dead when they are shaved thin and heavily hammered. Anytime I've modded those cymbals, I do a very mild amount of work.

    What a repulsive sound originally.... metallic, silvery, yelling, uncontrollable, still restricted... I would never have taken that cymbal home from the drum shop. If the purpose was to make a medium bright, kind of pingy ride with fair amount of definition and musical wash underneath, then Zildjian should have studied how Istanbul Agop does it with f.ex. Special Edition Fusion ride. I don't understand Zildjian nowadays. I used to prefer their stuff somewhere in the 80's.
    You really did the only thing that should have done with that plate in the first place
