  • in this video i talk about how ONE gave the rights to David Benioff and D. B. Weiss to write the One Punch Man monster association arc and how it desecrated Garou's character and arc and the thematic cognitive dissonance that made the finale felt dull and uninspired compared to the original source material (webomic).

Totally agree. The storytelling is foundamentally broken in so many ways, and still when I explain beat by beat why it is, the only kind reply I get is "but cosmic Garou was pretty dope though".

They fr could have just saved him for later. Maybe he copies one of God's disciples in the final arc and temporarily becomes half monster again, transforming into Cosmic. This just got in the way of Garou's character arc.

The time travel bullshit is the one part that pissed me off, cause when Garou finally commits to being a monster, and kills genos, Saitama finally see that his lackadaisical attitude towards being a hero was a mistake, he failed to make it on time again, and for that, he loses one of the few people who respect and look up to him, he finally sees that being strong isn’t the only thing a hero needs, and then he just fucking forgets that? An amazing, character building moment is completely undone because we need Saitama to find out about god and brace for the future? Yea right

It’s said that people are so blinded by how downgraded the manga has become sometimes it doesn’t even feel like murata isn’t passionate about the Opm project anymore

I don't think there has been a single good manga diversion in the entire series so far. The manga's adaptation of the garou fight ruins all the build up, both characters, it ruins blast and god as well, and it goes against the whole main theme of one punch man. It's honestly kind of impressive how bad it did it.

One manga diversion I find improved upon the webcomic that people neglect to mention is the Garou v. Bang 1v1 fight during the MA arc. Not only did it hint at Garou's soft side in a way that's subtle, without any chibi tsundere framing, it actually took monster Garou seriously. It also delved into Bang's character more which I feel is essential to compare to Garou and was largely neglected in the webcomic. But literally most other changes especially the Saitama fight was butchered big time.

@@AlexSciChannel I was actually gonna comment about manga bang too. I love his relationship with his brother and how it mirror himself and garou.
I also like that he retired because he realized he neglected his disciples to become a hero.
There's definitely good things in the manga for bang but I feel like for garou it all goes downhill after he beats golden sperm (also the s class heroes getting destroyed by other monsters than garou ruined the amazing moment of garou beating everyone and calling them out for their hypocrisy)

i thinka good change whenbthe anime comes is make him like his original webcomic version only make small hints to his humanity and then continue following the webcomic till the god comes to play and that's all still wont be perfect but way better than what we got

I don’t think that garou was ruined, I like the idea of him being more proving a point style than just a murderer. But if I saw the webcomic first I might’ve liked the oh garou more. Also not sure if old garou had the same backstory, but I usually prefer villains who just had a sad life to either live, or have a redemption arch.

Well manga garou didn't get a redemption.
He got a contrived timetravel plot point and validated despite still being a manchild.
Webcomic garou is actually in the process of redeeming himself. Because it takes more then a single act to make up for everything he did

i dont think cosmic garou was garou’s arc, nor god’s. im pretty sure it was saitama’s. it made him question how heroic he was, and if he was always late and blah blah… other than that, i do feel like his character was assassinated, but not not ruined. id also like to add that its possible that garou was changed because of how shonen is rn, and i do wish garou was retconned to being… uh, actually evil?

    • @1slayer959
      @1slayer959 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No it wasn't saitamas arc.
      It was a mess.
It was supposed to be garous arc, but that was scrapped for god.
Course god can't fully come into the story. So they shoved in a half assed version of saitamas eventual arc in the fight.
And when I say half assed. I mean half assed. Saitama literally forgets that genos is dead during the fight.
Only remembering when it's convenient for the shitty plot
