The transfer portal giveth and the transfer portal taketh away. Some good players are leaving and some good players are coming in. The big change in offensive philosophy has a lot to do with changes on that side of the ball
School loyalty is a thing of the past. Money rules now and they now make a living playing football in college. Trust me, this will eventually result in less fan base loyalty as well. Fans have always followed their team and the team has always had the same players (with a 4-5 year cycle), now the players move on year to year and the fans will loose interest in following teams that look different every year.
Utah and Coach Whitt were so stubborn they thought the old way of recruiting and developing talent for years would work WRONG! Coach Prime was a profit in seeing what was going on and how to adjust. Utah is late to the party!
Whitt has been stubborn on the offensive side of the ball for years, and that stubbornness was seen the past two years with the QB debacle that hurt the program, especially this past season. The past two years he put all his eggs in Rising and it backfired on him and when stayed with Wilson, that backfired on him even more. A 20 year coach should not be making those kinds of poor decisions. The biggest thing hurting Utah and every program in the country is the portal and specifically NIL. It is no longer college football, but the semi pro NFL. College football mine as well turn into the semi pro NFL, because that is what it is now.
You're forgetting that Bentley was TE 1 when it comes to every down hand in the ground. Ryan did not beat him out. Also, Bentley is getting his JC year back. Ryan moved on because he wasn't going to start. King will be the flex TE.
I think Alford and Stanley didn't work out because poor handling of the offense and QB play led to some of these people hitting the portal as they were never used properly. The same can be said if Whitt coaches 2025, like he did 2024, all the players they brought in through the portal ain't gonna make a difference if the head coach can't pull his head out of his @$$.
Strong words; while I would hope that the head coach would step in when offense isn't running well, I would hang the weak offense on the OC; optimistic that Beck will be better
@@KG10toTH5 maybe a bit harsh, but not everyone believes Whitt is going to allow the new OC Beck to run the offense. The vibe from fans on social media is that they were not happy he is returning, and for good reason. While he may have a winning record in his 20 years as Utah's head coach, it is believed by many media experts and Utah fans that he's the reason why Utah's offense in his tenure as coach hasn't been stellar going through 11 different OCs that produced the same results, yet has fielded a mostly consistent dominate defense. I believe he's Utah's #1 achilles heel and what has held Utah back from being great and missing a CFP berth the past few years. Not many OCs and talented offensive players out of high school and now the portal would want to play at Utah, knowing Whitt's track record of poor offensive since he's been head coach. Hope that changes this year, but many are not going to hold their breathes on this one.

Maybe a bit, but I didn't follow Ja'Quinden to Arkansas, and I def ain't following Carson Ryan to TDS
It feels like Santa is putting nothing but Utah coal in our stocking again this year. Merry Christmas 🎁
4 star recruits dont always insure starter material.

Meh on the Prime comparison; many teams would be envious of the brand appeal of Deion and his NFL groupies

Tanuvasa was a starter and he is leaving…
