In this video I will be going through a really awesome scratch mod - Penguin mod and damn it is really powerful. From new blocks, new extensions, inbuilt turbowarp to even mobile controls. Penguin mod has got everything covered.

@@SLSmartMind it should be fixed sometime today to tomorrow(or worst case the day after tomorrow), we've already implemented a bunch of security changes to our backend to prevent this from ever happening again
I started using pemgiunmod a few days ago for my private projects but I think the community for scratch is a lot bigger and better. Its probably one of the most underrated mods for scratch

It's very underrated specifically because like 1 week ago there were barely any videos about PenguinMod on TH-cam so it kinda was just left to be it's own thing until for some reason like 2 days after I watched the one video I could find about PenguinMod suddenly there were loads. I guess the video I watched blew up and suddenly loads of people were talking about PenguinMod.
İf you want to share projects widely scrach whould be better but if you are ok with lnot much players this is better im making a fnaf fangame and since scratch blacklist fnaf fan games im gonna use this

This mod shows that scratch could have implemented these a long time ago, except for the few blocks that were really useful that were removed.
The blocks could’ve revolutionized scratch, but unfortunately we live in a time where scratch is too easy on their community

Scratch should make it so you can switch between the normal scratch editor and an advanced scratch editor

@@possibleidentity9085 other part of the community is made up of older people, they should’ve created a new and different editor that has more blocks where older users can use these blocks to advance their project, they could have done this a long time ago

The reason the 'move X steps' block, and the ones penguin added, are very important is because it is based on what direction the sprite is facing.
Yeah, it can actually be useful! Although the move back 10 steps block is completely useless, because you could just put a negative number into the move steps block
3:15 the move block depends on where you're facing
This is huge!!! If the scratch team just used hired them to make 4.0 then scratch development as a whole would change forever!

When I was younger and still figuring out scratch I was like " Why is there no when I ___ event block" eventually I knew how to do it with the if and forever blocks but to this day sometimes I'm tired and I go " Dang where did they put the when ___ block?" But this mod makes it 10x easier on my brain when I'm coding at 3 in the morning.

Scratch is definitely better if you're still starting out/practice but once you get good you realize how limiting it is. With penguin mod you can make quite literally anything, I started using it a while ago and I was blown away, try it.

I've been using this mod for the past few months and im glad it's finally getting more attention!
3:06 the diffrence between 'change x' and 'move steps' is that change x is only gonna change x,no other value,while move can walk diagonally and vertically,based on the direction.
I specially love the new Rotation Styles, previous costume block and when stop blocks, but also the Switch Blocks (I use those often in GML, thats why and they are really useful) they added! Really liking this sofar.
(someone who partly (kinda just gave insperaiton) for an extension) note: The reason its not on the forms is because fresh did not want to remove the discord link, and did not care about it being on the forms

one thing i really want from a scratch mod is the ability to reliably play a gif or mp4 file. i was gonna make a full on game using turbowarp but discovered it was just extremely inefficient at displaying a gif so i went elsewhere.

4:00 Other people have probably already said this, but you can make a sprite stop speaking in native Scratch by running a blank say block.
I think scratch addons is definitely is a strong alternative, and also customizable and isn’t it’s own website. Both great scratch additions, just based on personal preference 😀
Scratch addons only have some extra useful features but not all the new blocks and extensions in this site :)
Fun fact:The creator of this mod, created a turbowarp extension tweening!(it's that extension with smooth things)

I'm surprised nobody has made anything that is really cool on Penguin Mod, as I checked it out, and personally, it's amazing! I am a bit confused on some of the blocks because they are too complex for me to comprehend, but other than that, I think a lot of people can actually make really good projects in the engine! ....Well, I thought there would be a lot more amazing projects that would revolutionize the internet, but all that I found were weird things people have made (not even that thought out). Pretty disappointing... but I do love the actual program, as it is a really is a big step in block programming! :)

switch to costume(previous costume)
Requires making “previous costume” costume, setting this, then deleting it.
Also can make a costume with a name being a number and switch to that costume to switch to a costume of that index, looping around, so costume(0) is the last one, (-1) second last etc

There actually was a way to switch to previous costume using the switch costume block, if anyone's wondering, here's how!
1: Get a sprite and make a costume and call it "previous costume"
2: get the "Switch costume to ()" block, and switch it to the previous costume you just made.
3: Now delete the costume, and when you use the block, then it'll switch to the previous costume.
Which means, scratch actually HAS a previous costume function, which could probably be in scratch 4.0. (if it ever comes out if you know what i mean.)

Fun Fact: there are also new blocks in the list category and there' more sound effects
there's also new blocks in the sounds category
Previous costume actually has an easy way, if you place a set costume to block then put a join block with (previous costume,) as the input
Then it works. There is other secret things with list like if you put random into one of them, you don’t need the join block too because it allows you to paste the specific words into it, like infinity or -infinity

3:04 If you use the steps block, it will move based on the sprites orientation and not relative to the stage.
The "return" block in My Blocks is used at the end of a define custom block script to convert it into a custom reporter/boolean.

Great, now i'll never using Scratch, dude, it was so much pain ti make my UNDERTALE battle in Scratch, cuz i didn't liked the fonts of the Scratch and i had to make the goddamn text in the PaintdotNET and the export the text to Scratch. But now that i discovered this mod, i'm not gonna use vanilla Scratch ever again

Just a disclaimer for anyone before they use this..Projects made using the penguin mod can NOT be added onto scratch since the blocks are not supported by scratch.

i Love how many extensions penguin mod has! i made a game thats starts of cute and innocent but as you proggress it gets more terrifying until it starts downloading scary files with the file extension

13:13 "drawing triangles in scratch is a big thing" no it isn't all you have to do is:
1: select the rectangle tool and press shift and drag to draw a perfect square
2: pick the reshape tool
3: remove one of the corners by double-clicking it
4: rotate by 45 degrees by pressing shift until the tip is pointing up
5: resize it to your liking

Im currently making a PVZ fangame, but there were some minor things like Cattail spikes pointing towards targets that felt impossible to code. I might start using this now!

If you create a block and rename the block to nothing and click returns a value. Click text. Rename it to whatever you want. Then click end cap. ( you can use number or text and Boolean and a label in the block)

The move block is needed if you want to make some kind of projectile. For example, if you add "point to player" and then "move x steps" it will move to the player continously. But if you replace "move x steps" wth a block like "change y", it will not work.
You CAN do it with x and y blocks, but it involves lots of math.

I have a question, Is there a way to make a Scratch project run on Scratch normally, but when you run the same project on pinguin, you get the extra features?
