Elvis Costello is fully capable of using words as a weapon, whatever sort of weapon the situation might call for - whether it's a switchblade in the kidney or the thermonuclear blast of emotional pain...
Lordy, right in the middle of my serious music loving. Grew up on 60s and 70s but likely connect more with Uncle Ted's music. Love him! YALL KEEP bringing the grooves! So much awesome diversity od music in the 70s, just right after many celebratory national moves forward in the 60s! BORN IN 61 here, I remember Water fountains labeled "for colored only" . As a child, I didn't understand. Thank goodness! I grew up being tolerant and know others my age did too. so much more loving than today...hope I passed it down. My 32 year old son accepts all. Thank God! KEEP ROLLING and bringing that sweet love togetherness. Uncle Ted got the touch!
My main men Mojo and Uncle Ted! It's been a while since I've heard this, though I remember it had a reggae vibe. Elvis always stood out from the punk/New Wave scene, due to his highly literate lyrics and the diversity of influences in his music. Hearing the two of you talking of detectives and noir has given me an idea for another joint, though I'll hold on that suggestion until the time is right. Until next time, staying groovy and eager for more.
Now you want to hear perhaps the darkest thing you've ever listened to, check out the "Dallas version of "Less Than Zero". And then watch Fiona Apple cover "I Want You" with Elvis on guitar...

I was lucky to see Elvis Costello in the 70's in concert in Dundee, Scotland. My first and best concert.
