Yngwie is just incredible. His sense of phrasing is spot-on and his technique is pretty much flawless. I love his music; every time I need some inspiration to get back to practicing guitar, all I need to do is listen to Yngwie. Great guitarist.
Yngwie is amazing, loved him since I was a kid. Saw him in a crappy little club, and he still managed to sound absolutely amazing. Every guitar player on earth wishes they had his clarity
Yngwie has become one of the great guitarist is not just he plays so fast, but because he is the pioneer of his own style "Neo-classic". Everyone who criticizes him has never done anything like him before and some of them can not even know the the music is!!
thanks!!, I don't understand why people always want to criticize this type of genius musicians, when someone is on this level you just enjoy the music and be amazed, no need to place negative comments if you can't do it yourself.
@MUNKYTICKLE123 The neck pickup selector is closest to the neck, and the bridge pickup selector is closest to the bridge. Typically, a five-way selector switch works like this (starting from the bridge pickup selector, which will be #5): #5: Bridge Pickup #4: Bridge and Middle Pickups #3: Middle Pickup #2: Middle and Neck Pickups #1: Neck Pickup
Wish I could give this comment a thousand thumbs up. People think they are musicians just because they can shred, but it aint music without feel. Yngwie is not just a guitar player but also a musician, and a pure brilliant one at that.
You can get techniquewise but writing a song,a solo or choosing ''good'' notes or playing a great phrase is a whole different story...so many people out there with flawless technique but still don't really know what to do with it...Malmsteen really knew what to do with it or more correctly he knew what he wanted to do and technique came naturally...
Yngwie typically plays his legato/sweep stuff on the neck pick up, and will flip to the bridge pick up for longer notes to give them a bit of "sting", as he puts it, or to pinch the harmonic. I think here he meant to go back to the bridge pick up and just didn't flip it all the way, which is why he corrects it about 10 seconds later.
Just before he starts to play he put the switch on the bridge PU position and a second later he puts back on neck pickup again and starts to play....pretty impressive LOL You rock Yngwie! \m/
1st. Yngwie is not a strict blues guitarist, but he does play the blues really well. 2nd. keep in mind... Yngwie was the first modern guitarist to play classical phrases in rock/metal at a high level. And I know there were a few that came before Yngwie, but not many, and they didn't have the technique that Yngwie has. He brought things to a new level. Everyone saw that Yngwie was special.
@CyValkarionhe strength of the neck comes from the truss rod. If you are using double jumbo frets, you don't need to scallop very deep. Yngwie also uses the early 70's extra thick necks and large headstock. I'm sure even scalloped he has more wood on his guitar neck than many players.
How about a title of "Bethcha Can't Play This" This guy inspired almost all of my harmonic minor and sweeping skills! Thanks Yngwie!! Gotta love the laugh at the end. Still some cockyness but he earned it lmao.
wow what an incredible player ! he's so cool too :)
I wish if Jason Becker and Yngwie Malmsteen could collaborate and play for once,I just wish,it would've been awesome
It is really great that a master technician like Yngwie is willing to share with us all. I only lament that TH-cam doesn't have a slow motion button.
It has now..
Yngwie is just incredible. His sense of phrasing is spot-on and his technique is pretty much flawless. I love his music; every time I need some inspiration to get back to practicing guitar, all I need to do is listen to Yngwie. Great guitarist.

The fact remains Yngwie is a virtuoso and rock/metal legend. Respect!
Yngwie is amazing, loved him since I was a kid. Saw him in a crappy little club, and he still managed to sound absolutely amazing. Every guitar player on earth wishes they had his clarity

To play the way he plays is simply remarkable!!!
I just love the look on his face before he shreds.... like, "Oh, shit... here we go!!"

a good musician is some one who is technically good at playing their chosen instrument, so this guy is a master
I love the way he finishes and you can tell he blows himself out like "woah did i really play that"
Awesome man!
He's so happy with himself at the end of this. A smile and a little chuckle. Shit, I'd yell out loud if I just played that.

Wish I could give this comment a thousand thumbs up.
People think they are musicians just because they can shred, but it aint music without feel. Yngwie is not just a guitar player but also a musician, and a pure brilliant one at that.
I tend to forget just how good Yng is until I see something like this. The classical phrasing is un-freaking real.

Does anybody know what model of strat that is ? It sounds awesome!

Mind-blowing :D
This. Is. Epic.

Looking at his face makes me happy inside.
holy shit! thats amazing
ive never seen a strat look so badasssssssssssssssss
To this day Malmsteen still has the most natural alt picking and general right hand technique of any guitarist ever.
The big thing that gets me about Yngwie is how amazing his sense of timing is. He's dead on all the time.
This one is so cool.
Just before he starts to play he put the switch on the bridge PU position and a second later he puts back on neck pickup again and starts to play....pretty impressive LOL
You rock Yngwie! \m/
Anyone tried a scalloped guitar? Is it any easier/ harder than normal fretted guitar?
1st. Yngwie is not a strict blues guitarist, but he does play the blues really well.
2nd. keep in mind... Yngwie was the first modern guitarist to play classical phrases in rock/metal at a high level. Yes, he still has the passion!
Brutal!!!
Malmsteen RULES!

Yngwie - God Of Guitar!!!
I love the very end... he just KNOWS he's not human.
How about a title of "Bethcha Can't Play This" This guy inspired almost all of my harmonic minor and sweeping skills! Thanks Yngwie!! Gotta love the laugh at the end. Still some cockyness but he earned it lmao.
