We played Lacuna on Christmas Eve and I won as the first player. I think the easiest solution is always play 2 games and swap sides. First player can get in some prime spots early but I do agree 2nd player does have some advantages.
@@BangersProject swapping sides won’t solve the 2nd player always wins problem. It’s as good as handing out victories. “The objective is to win, but it’s the objective that matters. Not the winning”. If I know from the beginning I’m winning (or losing) where’s the fun? I’m surprised you won as the first player. After 10 odd games as p1 (and 10 more as p2) my conclusion was “reacting >> practice” in the game. Given there’s no rule for how far apart the pieces need to be, if gold has a prime location, silver can just go perch right next to it and take the marginally prime-er location.
I really don't feel like I have had these issues. We are currently on a cruise to New Zealand and we have Lacuna with us. I reckon its about 4 wins to the first player in about 10 games played. I will start tracking proper stats just to keep an eye on this.
