The way they continue to grow out this critter world is outstanding. I got the book Tales of the Green Acorn, and I loved the story of Everdell. They will need to release a second book talking about the new Edge of the Map world's.

Yeah they did this really well. This was released after I recorded this video unfortunately. Gateway is definitely the perfect starting point!

I just started out in lorcana so this is from a brand new point of view I am starting with kids the gateway - this is getting them into it, so we are not to far along but have 1 goal done so about 40 cards with the goal done we are learning songs now After we are doing illumineers quest - this so solo/coop so we can practice playing more and have fun with it. Then i have unopened like all the starter decks. This allows us (mainly the kids) to try out basic decks to see how they kind of play out and learn how to understand the strategy of how they build decks and synergies. Plus each one comes with a booster so they can start basic customizing a deck. Then again i have 3 trove boxes unopened after that we can get more cards and building more advanced decks. After that we would start buying boxes of boosters based on what season we like best or want to expand on. This is how I am going about it. I used to play MTG when i was a kid and then some pokemon (mainly just collect with some playing) But overall I think lorcana is going to be our goto TCG (trading card game) for jamming playing and maybe some collecting but mainly playing I have little kids, but this would probably apply to alot of people starting out in a new TCG as you can start playing for as little as 12 bucks (gateway is cheap here) but slowly expand the collection for cheap till you start buying boxes and advanced build crafting

We definitely had fun with the Kaiju as well, with the highlight pushing a player into the mouth of a hungry shark who went nom nom nom on that meeple 🦈 For my daughters I was a bit kinder, but for my partner it was definitely game on 😁

Also was not tracking the 4 Edge of the Map series games. Well two down and two to go I guess. I would love to see some variety in mechanics for the final two games, plus as already stated ... where is my Bosley artwork :)

I was aware of El Paso but was not tracking Ark Nova. Thats crazy good, I must get that. For me though I really want Great Western Trail New Zealand in my collection, I have a convention this weekend so will keep an eye out for it!

Yeah fish is not something I am instantly attracted to, but who knows, can fish dethrone the dragons for second place?

Appreciate the comment. Yeah when you have the core of a really solid game, I never stress if I need to tweak it to make it more fun for me. These suggestions work for me, so I am glad other people find them useful as well.

I played Ohanami ages ago and really enjoyed it. How great is The Mind, my kids love it as well 😃

Unfortunately never played flip ships myself but have seen it and it looked fun. Rethemed as Space Invaders which never got much buzz. Have you played it at all?

Solo gaming means so much to me. It's a place I can enjoy my own company and dive into whatever world I want to. I find it challenging or relaxing based on the game. To me it's the equivalent of reading a good book but with a lot more physical interaction, thinking and hopefully fun. I think you will really enjoy it 😊

Fully agree that there was no way that I could truly account for the variability of other player moves. This was more me trying to understand the complexities and probabilities that exist in the game.

There is a page of mushroom facts in the rulebook and I'm like how can I have fun with this 🤔 The girls haven't been in a vid for a while, so the middle one jumped at the chance when I explained what I wanted to do 😄

Just wondering - I understand that you can control either or both heroes on a turn. But does the color of the card matter for which hero for the given action?

@ No, it doesn’t matter. You can use any card with both heroes.

Haha colour by number is actually pretty relaxing. If you managed to play a game in 30 minutes, I take my hat off to you. I have never managed to get even close to that playtime. Try double that time and that's more the average on a good day.

@ i agree it depends on the factions you choose but I don’t get all the hate for this game in the video and the comments. I mean hell my family plays everything from gloomhaven to too many bones, to checkers. So we kinda run the spectrum on all kinds of games, confusing-simple short-long. I found command of nature to be a quick and easy card builder pvp style game that was enjoyable for all. If your faction is weaker than your opponents you have other tricks up your sleeve to help like card draw, formation manipulation and more. If that fails you can always buy warriors from other factions on your turn. TL:DR- I think your video does a great disservice for steering people away from this game. Is it perfect? Certainly not, but it’s quick and fun and easy to pick up

@Danarchy3 appreciate the comment. I am sorry if it feels like a disservice, I hoped to try and convey while I didn't enjoy it as is - that I offered alternative ways to play it for more enjoyment. I am a massive fan of Here To Slay but feel like Unstable Games have not hit the mark in their latest releases. Try Age of Eon for a much better 2 player battler, or alternatively I would prefer to play Lorcana or Magic.

@ lorcana is ok, I like it more than I thought I would. MTG is a good card game but takes a lot to invest into it. And in both cases you have to find someone else who plays, knows the rules and has time. With this game all you need is an hour and a friend.

I really enjoyed this comment. As always this is only my point of view, but I think you have the shell of a really great game. I would suggest just trying a few different options to improve it for you and your family and see what works. Some people like the original, some like my suggestions, others have come up with their own house rules. Either way it's about maximising the fun for you. Hope you enjoy the game 😀

Thank you so much Jamie, I still have plans to update this video to fix the error with the item cards and add in the new additions to gameplay from the later sets. But should still be a great starting point for you to get into it. I was just as hesitant as you so I totally get it. This is the best TCG to start off with, not as overwhelming as some of the other options 👍

I am certainly happy to be proven wrong, which i am quite often (lol just ask my partner). Which faction do you think is the strongest or are you comfortable with the balance?

Now 6 player arena with the expansion actually sounds interesting 🤔 I think the key is that I do want more factions to play with so maybe I should invest in the expansion after all.

Super appreciate the comment. Yeah Rats of Wistar is such a solid euro, and made me realise how much I love rondels as a mechanism in games. Another game I really love with a rondel is Coloma. Both are great fun!

Yeah it really is such a great game. My most recent play was at 4 players and every person around the table really enjoyed it as well. I'm loving what Bad Comet Games are doing lately.

Really well explained. The nuances are quite intricate in this game and do shift the odds of success. I really did enjoy digging deeper in this game to understand if there is ways to succeed, but sounds like I am still only scratching the surface.

I can completely respect that. The original Catan is a masterpiece really, and slapping a new coat of paint over the top doesn't change people's love for the original.

Yeah, it’s basically a highly destructive endgame. Almost makes the lv8 champion seem a bit underpowered since you have to get it out of your deck before the game ends. Had a lot of fun with it though!

The more I play duelling games like this, I think the sweet spot is 20-30 minutes. Maybe that's just a personal feeling and I am sure there is a market for longer playing card duellers, but sadly thats just not me. I agree the faction abilities escalate but it takes such a long time to reach that crescendo, that my interest by that stage is long gone.

Super appreciate it. The more I read these comments the more I wish there were alternate options for play. Maybe a quick play variant (as well as the long play) would appease both lots of people. A lot of games now have variants included as standard, I just wish we had those options, so I didn't have to house rule. I also agree with that ambiguity, for a company that makes millions from these games, you could really spend the time and money in perfecting both the gameplay and rulebook.
