- Luke Holland, 21 years old! I'm from Peoria, Arizona. This is the most difficult song I've covered to date, & the most time I've put into learning a song ever. Huge thank you to Matt Garstka of AAL for helping me with a few of the fills in the song. For example, at 1:38 & 2:42, Matt bridges pedals (by using 1 foot on 2 pedals) to get the double kick & opening/closing of the hihat sound.
The audio was recorded & mixed by Master Cameron Mizell of Chango Studios, all video was done by Prime Minister Jeremy Tremp.

You know a song is challenging for Luke when there's not one single stick trick during the song, haha! But besides that, this cover was excellent/spot-on/perfect. Whatever you wanna call it. Hands down, your best cover to date! Looking forward to more, man :)

I do have one question for you Luke, how the hell are you so damn good when you do remixes and covers but your sound so basic in the Word Alive. I’m not trying to take away from your talent, but it just seems that it is so monotonous and boring. This is not a hate comment, just a legit question. I personally think you shouldn’t be in that band. I originally started listening to them because of you, but I fell in love with the lyrics though. The music has gotten really obnoxious and I really think you should just do stuff with guys like, I don’t know, Jason Richardson or, if time permits, Jared Dines. Keep going hard man!

I've been coming back to this video every few weeks since Luke first released it. This song is, imo, one of the most technically difficult drum parts in modern progressive metal, and Luke recreated about as perfectly as a human being can play this song. Absolutely spotless.
I'd say Tendinitis is by far the most ridiculous drum piece, but Ka$cade is defo up there.

Out of the covers I've seen, I feel like this one is the best in my opinion not just for great execution but also for the outstanding mix.
I don't see why you're still in The Word Alive. You are too good for them. You should join a progressive metal band or create one.
Because he does what he wants to do. So many musicians are much better and more talented than the music they choose to create, they play in their bands because that's the music they like to create. Just cause they can play more technical difficult stuff, doesn't mean they necessarily want to.
They're his best friends and they do what they love. It's as simple as that.

The lead guitarist of The Word Alive (Zack Hansen) is also in a much higher level than the music of the band. I think they are limited by the genre of the band.
If luke holland and the guitarist of The Word Alive would create a side project it would be epic.
FearlessX7 they have a side thing but no recorded material. look up "the fathers" and a video of luke and zach shredding at a club pops up.
As someone who doesn't really like the overplayed (technicality-wise) pop covers, I find myself really enjoying the covers that are inherently technical because of the music. Did this one some justice, man.

The amount of concentration on your face is unbelievable. I've never seen you so focused on the technicality of a song. Usually you feel it and there's more freedom but you were locked in the whole time!

Why do you claim to be self-taught, when the originally drummer of this band taught you how to play this piece?
he means he taught himself to play drums not this piece specifically, he learnt drumming techniques and such independently without someone teaching him.
