  • This is the end-of-project dissemination seminar for the ANTICIPATE project where we will present findings from our work in Western India.
Changing rainfall patterns caused by climate change can increase the severity and frequency of both droughts and floods. This is a cause for concern when these historically new patterns occur in drought-prone areas where these events become increasingly co-located. By co-located hazards, we refer to the incidence of closely timed or concurrent extreme weather events, especially in contexts with limited or no prior record of occurrence. In this seminar, the team will discuss this idea of co-location concerning compound extremes building on interdisciplinary scholarship. In particular, we unpack the social construction of extremes (how they are understood and experienced by various actors), and their temporal and spatial co-location with other systemic drivers of vulnerability.
