    Interesting product and certainly innovative. The only downside I see is that it's kind of like the ShopSmith tools. It can do a lot of things but maybe doesn't excel at everything. Also, like the ShopSmith, it's a great system if you like to do changeovers all the time. Seems like when you add up all the changeover time, a traditional SSQA would probably save time in the long run. Just my opinion but definitely a cool product. Thanks for all the great videos from Messicks!

    Good review Neil. I've seen quite a few reviews of the Artillian grapple system and NO ONE goes into any detail on how the modules actually attach to the frame and lock in place. So kudos for that! BTW... Artillian also makes an adapter that slips on the fork frame that allows you to attach 3-point implements like a landscape rake or blade. Using it up front really changes the way those implements can be used. You can even attach a Quick Hitch to the front adapter.

    • @ecthelion1735

      Quick hitch to front adaptor... does that mean I could use my loader to lift a carryall or ballast box? 🤔

    Thx for this review. Have been using Artillian system for many years. Purchased the frame and short forks initially. Over the years, added grapple, and longer forks. Next up: stump bucket. Great product with equally terrific customer service. What’s nice is that it’s easily managed and stored by home owners with limited shed space. Those weight saving holes on the grapple make for easy handling. I cut some trees this summer, and stacked limbs/brush in nearby pile, then used grapple to pick up pile and carry into the back woods. Man, did that make the project so much easier and faster.

    I don't get why a few of you are commenting about the "changeover times" or somebody stated "gimmick"??? It's not like your spending 3 hours changing over and 1/2 hour using the new setup! 10-15 minutes and your setup for the day or more! AND if you need to change the setup, what, another 10minutes and you have a new use. I think this modular approach is fantastic and very inovative. I can see myself setting this up with the Grapple/Rake/Grapple from day one and change it over to pallet forks when I need to. Perfect! It will take very little room when I'm not using it.

    The cost of this system needs to negate the cost of separate individual quick attach implements, as swip swapping these modular pieces is considerably mor difficult and time consuming than simply hitting a switch or throwing two levers. Without an attractive price point, its just modifying a problem that didnt exist, and doubling or tripling attachment points.

  • @StubProductions

    Are these units only for relatively small tractors and loaders? I am looking at buying an MX5400/6000 which has a LA1065 loader. The ARtillian website doesn't offer any diverter valves for a loader bigger than a LA525, which makes me concerned (especially with the video commentary on all the material removed for lightness) how beefy these are and if they're intended for the size tractor I plan t6o acquire...

    Seems they're trying to make this some sort of a quick attach system instead of the much easier to use SSQA already on the tractor. In addition, the reason I bought a grapple was to let the tractor do the heavy lifting. There was a lot of heavy steel parts being swung around here. It just doesn't feel like an elegant solution, especially for the price. Finally, it looks like this is a pretty heavy unit, taking up valuable lift capacity on a compact tractor. This one just isn't for me i guess.

    Hello Neil, I believe that the laser cutting is for marketing rather than weight saving. That's just my impression from looking at it. I agree with you 100%. There's no meaningful weight saved, I think they just tried to make it look meaner or more aggressive/tough I suppose.

  • @court2379
    @court2379 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Looks to me like the SSQA fails to provide the needed structure to support the attachments without rebuilding too much on the attachment. Perhaps a better design should be made, you basically have two QA systems here.
    The same with the 3 point QA. Need a design that has a published std, and includes the pto output so you never touch the coupling.
    I had a large bush (3ft dia base) to remove over the weekend and found I couldn't get a normal bucket in the space and couldn't pull it out. So I tried using my forks pushed together for digging. It worked quite well, and was able to pop that bush out in a few minutes. Since they are narrow, you can roll them and break the roots off the sides of the bush, and then stab under it to cut those.
    Seems like a kit to add slide plates to carry more dirt might make a cheap excavator replacement. For shallow work.

    You mention the holes being put in there to save weight for the end-user, don't forget, it also saves weight for the manufacturer. If they make a unit that only weighs 15 lbs, and they cut 3 lbs by cutting those holes out, they saved 3lbs of steel that could be used to make the next one. I'm fairly sure, all that metal gets smelted back into the next tool. In an easier way to understand the context, 90lbs of steel can either be used make 5 tools that weigh 18lbs WITHOUT holes or 6 tools that weigh 15lbs WITH the holes. I'm sure it isn't quite that simple, but it does make sense.
