How funny that I watched this, when today was your first day. I hope its everything you want it to be.
I'm amazed that the company can behave that way. I've been on the receiving end of being laid off and also working in HR of the job I got after, when they were having to do redundancies. Over here there is a whole process they have to go through which, if not followed correctly, they can actually get into trouble. A company couldn't just tell you on the day that that's it, although I'm not sure how it would work for some places, such as a charity that has maybe only one or two paid employees and the rest being volunteers. I'm not sure what your job was or how big the company is or indeed if its different over there.
I knew it already but I'll say it again I'm pleased the cancer scare was just a scare and turned out to be a polyp.
As someone who has severe anxiety and has been there and out the other side it was strange to find that once I got my diagnoses it was almost a relief because I had something 'real' to worry about and focus on rather than all the things that make me anxious that are generally just in my head. Also, strangely and incredibly luckily (I guess quite similarly to you) the four months of continuous heavy bleeding that had led me to going to the doctors and having to have a hysteroscopy, an MRI and a D&C which eventually found those little malignant cells actually had nothing to do with it. It was a completely separate issue and, if not for that, they could have carried on growing and I'd have been none the wiser until it may have been too late.
Anyway, I'm so glad that those unpleasant issues have been overshadowed now by your dream job and achieving your dream of publishing a book. Onwards and upwards, time for wintering and preparing yourself for next year and for what you want to achieve 😊
Take care and see you on the flippity flip 💜
