Chain sharpness has a much bigger impact than many people realize. I run a 500i on occasion, love it. But prefer the little ol' ms261 with an 18" bar for the majority of my work. So power is important, but just one factor.
I have 3 Stihl 500i , 1 Stihl 661, 1Husqvarna 395, 2 Stihl 660, and a Stihl 460. The Stihl 500i is by far my favorite saw to cut trees with. I would have thought the 500i would have won. I'm going to buy a Husqvarna 592 and try it out thanks for the video
@@tocool1605 for general firewooding I would have the 500i over the heavier 592 anyday. But it I was cutting big timber then the 592 is the best choice
I have both and love them for different reasons. The 500i was ported and is a lil demon! I use a 28” and a 32” bar for 90% of all my cutting. The 592 is a monster and I use it for all my larger cuts. 36” and 42” bars in it. If I’m falling I use the 500
I have both and both are the best saws I ever owned! But, if I were to choose one it would be the 500i. Far easier to start, lighter and my 500i seems a lot quicker than the one in the video.
I don’t know if I told you in your older video . I have a 500i R ported . Like Buckin Billy Ray mentioned in his videos a sharp chain is very important and the rakers are set right , it will cut the log like butter ! I have the Ms 261c ported .
I'm a Stihl man have the whole collection 880 down .... however the 592 that Bjarne Butler uses ..ported by Donny Walker is the best on the planet at the moment.
These saws aren't even in the same class. When you factor power to weight ratio the stihl wins hands down. There's a reason they're so popular. Big bucking/falling job, sure, 592. All arounder, 500i. Nobody is running a 25" bar on a 592.
@@rogerpowers3891 Yes the Husqvarna certainly has the larger capacity on it's side. A 13.5 cc advantage to be precise. While the Stihl has the alleged power advantage of fuel injection over carburetion. However from what I can see, the extra 13.5 cc's is out of proportion to the blistering performance of the Husqvarna. Both are great saws.. I would be happy with either one. 👍🏻
Totalmente de acuerdo sthil es una marca muy reconocida y muy buena pero es lenta en cuanto a la Husqvarna es rapidisima para mi gusto sthil no es la mejor marca en motosierras.
i own the 592 and i love it the only problem i have is it gets vaper lock every once in a while so it will be tough to start some times but other than that is awesome. i had and old 028 farm boss for years and loved it, bought a stihl ms250 and HATED it traded it in for the 592. i know they are different in HP but a world a difference saws, i own a few more Husq saws. but ill say cant go wrong with either brand.
No replacement for displacement. Stihls have always had better power to weight but Huskies always had better filtration and smoother. I prefer working on Huskies, I find Stihls a bit of a pain to work on.
Both great saws but nobody runs a 25" bar on a 592. 32" minimum on a 92cc saw. Now I am not saying it still wont out cut the 500i but a 592 is for 32" trees and up. Also that 500 does not sound like its running right, I have one all stock and it screams through oak that small. Also the Husky C83 chains are well known to cut faster than Stihl or most others chains out of the box. I have Husky and Stihl and like both.
The stihl chains are hard and tough but cut like a half dull chain before a good hand filing brings them up to speed. The x cut husqvarna chain has superior out of the box sharpness. The 592 is more powerful and should be faster in large wood with equal chains. In that small wood though, even a 60cc saw with an excellent chain would have done better than the 500i shown. But in the spirit of 'out of the box vs out of the box', yea I'd expect stihl to get smoked across the board with just about every match up.
At least give them both the same bar & chain, kinda a pointless video else. I own a 500i had it three years, and she revs like hell, maybe yours needs freshening up, it sounds down on revs and not so perky.

The 592 is just a little lighter than a 395. More power than a 500i but also heavier.

The 592xp is a beast. It’s become my favorite saw.
The 592 is a beast. It’s faster than the stihl 661 as well
Got a 572xp + 592xp beasts/hunting a 3120 husky/husky is the best you can buy.never had any issues 45yrs.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
The power of a Husq. is unequalled
How about fuel consumption? Did you measure that?

I would like to see them with the exact same chains as well
That Stihl looks like it might be significantly down on power from factory fresh: it sounds tired - but that Husky is impressive nonetheless.

Great video. Don't over look Echo saws. Great bang for the buck. Mods are easy and have a great payback. Have a great New Year & God bless.

I am when I am bucking.
Either saw looks good compared to my 44 year old Stihl and Dolmar dinosaurs. They cut wood just like my saws; amazing !!!
@AllanWells-tp8tm I've got an 80cc late 70's vintage echo I still cut with time to time. Pulls a 30" like a tractor lol.
That's not even close. The Husqvarna is much faster. Very impressive.
I agree! That saw is a beast.
Well I’d hope so considering it’s a 90cc saw vs a 79cc saw lmao
This is the revenge for when the 500i was compared to the husky 572.😂

Does the 592 have a stock sprocket on. I have seen 661s with one more tooth on the back sprocket and they are really fast.

If the 592 isn't broke in yet (rings seated) then it will get faster.
I figured the 592 would beat out the 500i because of the extra cubes. I love my 500i for cutting big wood, like 18 to 20” up.
I have a sthil ms 261 chainsaw but I think they would be quite equally matched with speed and torque 😁
you're joking right lol haahaaahaaa
😂😂😂
😄 I ran the 261 and the 500i against each other in another video.

I was going to suggest the same think. Get the raker down a couple of file swipes and you’ll see chips, not dust!
Well I’m rooting for the husky having not seen the end result yet.
One log looks punky ( half dead ). The other looks solid.
Same log. The first cut is dark because the end of the log was weathered.
I think husky’s RPM is what pulled ahead of the Stihl
The 500i is a strong low end saw IMO husky’s in general just rev high
Low end on the 592 is noticeably more than a 500i.
Put the 500i chain against the wood before squeezing the throttle.
Cool
I have a Husky 592xp and run a 30"and 42" bars on it. The saw is a beast!! I had a 395 that was a great saw but the 592xp will out cut it!
Cool video but an apples to oranges comparison.
Husqvarna ❤
Stihl rule
Still très bonne machine
La migliore è sempre la Husqvarna dispiace e vero comunque
At least give them both the same bar & chain, kinda a pointless video else. I own a 500i had it three years, and she revs like hell, maybe yours needs freshening up, it sounds down on revs and not so perky.
Fammi affilare a me la 500i 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
And the Husqvarna isn’t even geared right. Throw a 8 pin sprocket on it and hang on! It’s piss revving with the short bar, geared too low
Lol that husqvarna rips
It's beastly!
La catena non è la stessa
Хускварна класс
You do NOT buy a 2000 dollar saw, just to compare it with another saw! Just BS
Holy shit these comparisons are getting way out of touch. Only compare same cc’s against each other.
