I'd say they would only have been problems had the show had a different host. Gene Rayburn had a fantastic ability to turn "problems" like this into gold... which is why we still love to watch these videos decades after the fact.
That was one of the problems with this game show. Sometimes..the questions Gene read would not make sense..or it sounded like something else needed to be included in the "blank" question to have it make more logical sense.
Agreed. "He's [blank]" calls for an adjective, but the most obvious electrically-themed answer ("short circuit") is a noun. If the question had said "He's got a [blank]", it would've made a lot more sense. The writers blew it with this one.
Yeah, that's probably why the Ross Shafer and Michael Burger revivals both went nowhere. After watching the first episode of the Ross Shafer version, I kept saying to myself, "I want Gene Rayburn!"
Gary does a very good impression of the shy contestant
Poor lady. She's so shy & so nervous, she cannot talk plainly.
she's funnier and has far better timing than the host!
Burnt out? Short circuit? Wires crossed?
This lady is the best contestant ever - so real
This is the kind of question where there are multiple good answers lol.
Please understand, contestant, that we are not laughing AT you, we are laughing WITH you.
Not buying any of it, huh?
My favorite Match Game contestant.
I loved this game
It was an electrician. "He's powerless"

that was funny. we had this show in the uk too, called bankety blank.
Gary acted like his character "Radar". Because Radar gets nervous questions about sexual body parts.
Gene Rayburn.. Richard Dawson.. Patti,Charles,Brett...Soooo missed😢
I would've said, "short-circuited."

my answer was "blown a fuse"
THE MOST CONFUSING PERSON ON MATCH GAME EVER.
AC/DC was the definative answer.
broke?
The blue jacket with Fannie Flagg's name on it.
good thing.
Impotent is the answer.
The Six Million Dollar Man is broke (hell, I don't know)
he's AC/DC
This was always dragged out way too much.
