      Yeah, we’re not sure where he’s been. I’d love to hear his take on crop mood and see what results he could get.

    Great review as always. Crop Mood is really a game changer. I agree with what you say about temperature. It's very easy to reach 52 degrees simply filming some test and playing with the menu functions. Bilal sayd that staying around 50 degrees is not a problem and that the camera can easily work around those temperatures. So, without much worry, let's have fun with our little EOSM and Crop Mood

      Thanks so much! Your videos have helped me a ton using crop mood with my EOS m. It’s just incredible what this little camera can do now with crop mood!

      This is likely because camera is running the clock speeds higher even while not recording in order to make the UI snappier. Also, I'm sure it's optimizing down to the metal similar to a high-level API so just like any silicon, its going to get hotter because its running the bus and core nearly wide open. This is why it's best to buy or make a re-housing for it with a mini-fan blowing the air out, similar to a PC tower or gaming console. They make silicons with a high heat ceiling and then clock it to only reach only %50-75 of its full potential to have plenty of processing head room and safety margin. This build seems to have removed that all together or tricked it with clever programming. I would not keep recording with its stock casing because overtime the heat will in fact eventually degrade the circuit

    Amazing how well this little camera performs, the heat its generates is ok it never went over 50°C, there is some rolling shutter whilst moving handheld, a must have for sure! Great work all those behind Magic Lantern, thank you Corey for your work as well, its a huge help discovering videography!

    Thanks for the videos. What is the maximum length video we can record using ML Raw and EOS M?.

    • @reelfilmmaking101
      @reelfilmmaking101  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're welcome! Honestly with the right settings, you can record in some modes for as long as your memory card or battery lasts. I personally have recorded a 40min video with magic lantern and had no issues with it!

    Hello I have been watching your videos and have decided to try a camera with crop mood. I have a question… I see crop mood exists for 4 canon cameras including the 650d and 700d. I see everyone ALWAYS mentions eos M when they talk about ml enabled cameras. My issue with the eos m is it’s increasing scarcity, and therefore price AND that I am an ef photography shooter looking to add video. With the 650 or 700 I can use my existing lenses (and batteries), but the eos m would require me to spend on lenses (I know they are cheap from certain brands) and batteries. I’m on a budget, and I’d like to hit the ground running. I run ml on my 6d but… it’s so frustrating. Soooo. I would consider the eos m if the experience was better than 650d/700d. I see a lot of content that seems to indicate that it’s identical ml build. Is it? Would I lose out on crop modes or previews or anything else if I chose not to go to eos m? Or is it just the community and accessories like cages etc that I’d miss out on? Thank you all. I could use some advice 😊

      Sorry for the delayed response, you may have already made your decision on which camera to buy, but here are my thoughts on your scenario. From everything I've seen and read about the crop mood build between the eos m and the 650d/700d it seems that all three cameras are very similar in terms of performance and output. I think the biggest factor on which camera to get comes down to personal preference about thinks like the ergonomics between each camera. With the eos m you have a very small portable form factor, making it great for travel and capturing high quality moments quickly. You can also adapt a wide variety of vintage lenses to the camera because of the mirrorless design. Trade offs of the eos m include no articulating screen, a small body that can be hard to hold/stabilize for some and you need to buy an adaptor to use any EF glass. The 650d/700d have the articulating screen and don't need adaptors for EF/EFS glass, but are bulkier with the DSLR form factor. And while you can adapt EF/EFS glass, because of the flange distance of the EF mount, you can adapt nearly as many vintage lenses to this camera.
      With what you've told me of being a photographer who uses EF lenses, I'm guessing you have a decent amount of them and you're already heavily invested in the system. In that case I might slightly lean towards the 650d/700d because you'll get nearly identical results to the eos m, but you won't need an adaptor to start using all your EF glass. I personally only have one EF mount lens, and a variety of other glass on different mounts (m mount, m 4/3) and I value the compactness of the EOS M body, so that camera currently is the better choice for me. I hope this helps!

      @@reelfilmmaking101 thanks so much! I did consider Eos m for vintage glass, but I agree since I’m invested in EF glass. I do occasionally use a helios or mamiya 645 lens, but those adapt to EF nicely. Of course it’ll crop a lot without a speed booster

    There's something I've come to reslise i've gotta share:
    1:1 crop mode is one of the worst modes you could shoot in. It has the highest amount of noise single each pixels on the sensor is a pixel in the video. After Line skipping i'd call it the second worst mode to shoot any camera in.
    The anamorphic modes use pixel binning which is a much better process. Averages nearby pixels, isn't taxing on the cpu, no FOV loss, and you get a sharp image. It also works really well with Dual ISO.
    I used to love the 1:1 crop before crop mood but i can now say unless you need to get more reach out of your lenses it doesn't make sense anymore
