Tbh she should be stronger than anyone else as long as they dont have a good awareness of their surroundings like ie: reimu (even if she realized a little bit late), or high class beings that can notice her. Even kasen and marisa has a hard time noticing koishi. As long as she goes unnoticed, anyone will have a hard time with koishi because they literally have no idea where to attack or defend.
Man, now I'm wishing Kogasa was in this. Mary-San would be incredibly fitting for her too. Granted they already had Koishi's assets for the game so I understand why they used her.
You know, when I read up on the plot of Subterranean Aminism on Touhou wikia (and when I saw your walkthrough of the game's extra stage), I always thought Koishi's closed 3rd eye meant that people could simply never recognize her even if they saw her before, but in the fighters it seems to be interpreted as "no one can see her" (ontop of the interpretation I came to, of course. Like, I don't see Reimu/Marisa remembering Koishi)...
I've always thought Koishi in 14.5 and 15.5 as a Trap-based/Proximity Mine-like character. Like storing a Lightbulb to be triggered when the opponent is above her, etc. EDIT: Also, I think Mary-san got much more famous because of Koishi. That legend propelled her to the No. 3 spot in the Popularity Polls.

Btw, I can't really get the hang of HM and ULiL, the flying mechanics screw me a lot, but in this game it appears that she is a lot harder to play as... Can you tell a little about why? Honestly I find her easier to play as in this game from HM (but only cause you have a bit more control over what you're doing) but she's still _easily_ the most difficult character to play as. If you use any directional melee or ranged attack you'll do it like normal, however you'll also gain a red and/or blue ring around you as well. Then after a second or so once you're ever in range to use the attack again you'll automatically do it the moment you're in range. (so if you use her up melee attack to bring out her lightbulb you'll get a red ring around you after using it, then if you ever get under your opponent you'll use it again automatically soon as they're in range) Specials are similar but slightly different. The initial time you use it nothing happens, she'll just glow green and gain a green circle. Then, like the melee or ranged attacks you'll use the attack soon as they're in range (so if I use her side special for her tentacle trap move it'll go off as soon as the opponent is even horizontally with me for the attack to connect). However you do have the control to use that move anyways by pressing the button a second time so you're not forced to wait for the move to go off.
Technically, the girl being killed by Mary is just one version of the story. Officially, Mary saying "I'm right behind you" to the girl is the real ending. The girl's fate being left unknown is meant to add to the suspense of the urban legend. Same goes to her opening the door and unknowingly letting Mary in. The more used version of the urban legend has the girl hiding in her room after she gets the penultimate call instead of opening the front door hoping it's a bad prank.

I think Koishi is not that hard tho.....I was very confused to use her at first but then i learn how to use those heart now im good at Koishi in both ULiL and AoCF ! :D edit: actually ULiL and AoCF mechanic are same except in AoCF you can choose another character to play with the main one...
