Parents who think that shows about heroes fighting villains send bad messages when really it's the parents who forbid these shows who are sending bad messages. Angry religious psychopath parents who think they are such good people raising their children right when really they're nothing but evil Nazis who are poisoning their children's minds by making them believe that every single thing in the world is altogether evil. and what happens when those overprotected children are all grown up? they either become suicidal mentally ill outcasts who wish they had had a proper childhood and a normal life, or they become permanently brainwashed cowardly psychos for whom there's no hope whatsoever.

This is one of my favorite Tex Avery cartoons! What I like about it is the amount of effort the artists put into it. The bears house looks like it was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. They put a lot of attention to detail in even in minor stuff like the furniture and even the glasses that Droopy drops onto Spike.
Besides the whistle, I think the other noises that might've woke up the bear would be the sneeze, the laugh, the Pu from the skunk, and the burp. Just my thought.
Avery did a few of these "QUIET!!!" cartoons with the same theme-a character or characters is forced to run outside a building and a long ways away whenever they need to make some kind of noise-loud or soft-in order to keep the very bad-temperedsleeping antagonist from waking up-always with hilarious results! And being the genius that he was Avery always found a way to turn an old gag into a fresh, new and even funnier gag!
I remember one with Daffy and Elmer Fudd as the front desk at a hotel, and some huge guy trying to get to sleep. Fuddsy got blasted at the end of every gag.

Yeah, Avery later had Deputy Droopy. Also Royal Cat Nap (1958) with Tom and Jerry had a few scenes like this. I read Hanna/Barbera may have been influenced by Avery at MGM.

In Tom & Jerry Tales, couple years back, in a episode, I saw the bear sleeping in a cave, I gasp, 'Tom don't wake the bear,' it was funny, because the bear spoke the same lines. Lol. The joy of seeing a familiar character in a new style cartoon.
I love love love this cartoon,and i’am going on 55yrs old and still love it as it I was still a little kid.My wife snore so so bad and she wakes me up out of my sleep almost every other night and this Cartoon puts me in the mind set of what I exactly wanna say to her when she wake me up out of a deep sleep with her loud snoring lol

There was another version of this cartoon where the bear was much smaller... He ran out with a bat and was beating the dog so rapidly with the bat he went airborne. One of my favorites.
