  • In this video I show you what came inside this beginner coil tattoo kit that I had started out with upon beginning my tattoo journey.
    The purpose of this tattoo kit was for educational purposes. What I used this beginner kit for was practice. I would practice setting up & breaking down my tattoo station, how to setup a coil machine, what a coil machine was, and this list can go on. The insight I gained was valuable and paved the way to where I am today.
    PLEASE NOTE: I DID NOT use this kit to practice on human skin or myself, in fact I never practiced on human skin until I was more developed and comfortable with my own workflow and capabilities.
    All in all this beginner kit is great for educational purposes, the machines work as well as they look and feel great. I feel this can be a great tool kit for those whom teach tattooing or offer apprenticeships, this coil kit is solid for learning!
    I will go ahead and link you to a couple of these kits & the box of needles with tubes below that you can pick up on your end to help you get to where you are going.

    Hey! Thanks for the great video! I have a question, why do you prefer a rotary machine over a coil machine? Is it because its too difficult to keep changing coil machine needles for different line widths?

  • @lukedorrington7455
    @lukedorrington7455 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I started with a 4 piece dragonhawk coil machine kit, I tried rotary but they weren't for me, too light and hardly any adjustment so I went back to coils and learnt how to build my own machines and tune them to fit my own tattooing style.

      Ahhh I hear you.
      My approach was always what works best for our individual workflows. For some it would be coils, for some it would be rotary machines, and for some it’s stick and poke.
      I never got too far into coils in terms of tuning them finely to my workflow , or using them on human skin tattoos. I went to pen style rotary machines early on and I didn’t go back.
      What didn’t you like about rotary machines ?

      @@DanielYuck I have an engineering background so I like knowing how things work, I love with coils that I can change the parts if they break or adjust the hit/stroke on the fly. Rotaries are very lightweight I struggle with linework with them whereas coils are nice and heavy and linework is simple. also I adjust the give on my coil so it backs up into the tube only ever leaving 1.5mm out of the tube no matter how hard I press so it's a safety feature for me, whereas rotaries just hit hard all the time with little to no give and I personally find it really easy to blow out lines with them.

    • @DanielYuck
      @DanielYuck  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lukedorrington7455 Ahhhh I see, that is a more advanced and technical approach I feel.
      I think coils for me I would blowout lines right and left haha Idk why something about the operations of the machine seem heavy to me where I have for example my Q2 short pen style machine and it has a nice give to hit so I can get fully accurate with every line and or stroke I pull or push.
      I love how within tattooing we have a world of it's own where we all have different preferences to get the ink into the same place.
      The ink goes into the same layer but it's how it was inputted is what varies. haha

    Nice videos.. What machine are you currently using? Im a beginner. I started out with dragonhawk mast original one, then just upgraded to the Mast Archer. But now i see good things about Cnc. Which one r you currently using? Thanks..

    • @DanielYuck
      @DanielYuck  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’ve heard about the mast tattoo machines but I have never used them myself.
      I currently am using the CNC-Q2 and the CNC-WE as well. These 2 machines are pretty much all I need. I even loved the Q2 so much that I picked up 2 so I was able to have a cycling workflow upon tattooing.

    Hey Daniel! - got my first machine a few months back! - love it! - but i do have one question. - When i use rubber bands on my needle (coil machine) the machine always get really really weak - even with higher voltage. - any solution for this?

    • @DanielYuck
      @DanielYuck  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That’s a great question!
      As I am not too familiar with coils I believe this may have something to do with the spring tension after the bands have been applied. I would try to adjust the spring tension upon setting up. Messing with different adjustments to see what best fits my machine.
      I could be way off and wrong but I’ve experienced this with my coils and I would typically adjust the spring tension.
      If anyone sees this comment and can point Jonas in a better direction, that would be greatly appreciated 🙏

    The thing that bugs me is that they don't have expiration dates, lot #, nothing. That to me was the only red flag when I got a similar product.

    • @DanielYuck
      @DanielYuck  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is exactly why I never used them on human skin amongst other reasons. I knew upon getting this kit what my goal was, I feel everyone is different.
      Others may pick this up and go all out tattooing even if someone told them no haha
      If I may what style are you doing on your end?

      @@DanielYuck sorry wasn't trying to nit pick but wanted to point that out. I like doing alot of line work, dot shading, black and grey. But I think I may have knack for color, however black and grey is my favorite style. To be honest I just love tattoos and art in general. I can't truly say I have a favorite. But far as what I'm working towards is getting better at my black grey.

      Ahh thats dope, I am not too big on color at the moment. I prefer to do black and grey work over color. However who is to say that won't change in the future.
