    Hey, just a heads up, with Polyurethane bushings you do not need to put weight on wheels to tighten the bolts. The reason you tighten rubber bushings with load is because the rubber is bonded to the inner and outer sleeve. If you tighten a rubber bushing unloaded, when you load the suspension, it will cause the bushing to rotate (because it's bonded) which adds spring rate and wears them out faster. Poly bushings are not bonded and thus the sleeves rotate freely preventing this "bind".
    If you want to do it "right", you should loosen the bolts for the front suspension and the front leaf spring and tighten them underload since you've changed the ride height. The change in ride height is rotating the rubber bushings on the control arms just what would happen if you put rubber bushings in the factory leaf springs instead of poly.

    Did you consider 2" blocks for the rear since they maintain a good a ride and it doesn't steepen the angle of the driveline/rear diff interface? Just wondering why someone would choose shackles over that. I haven't done my lift yet, still trying to gain knowledge on the different methods and their advantages or disadvantages

    How has the ware on the truck been since putting the keys? I was told to do spindles over keys because you can blow a ball joint faster with the keys

    • @brevanhansen5084
      @brevanhansen5084 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats correct for the most part, in this case his is a 4wd so keys are the only "cheap" option, if you have a 2wd then I would do spindles

    Am i right to assume that you live in the rust belt ? I live in western Canada and my 2003 has less corrosion than this 2011 .

    • @BrianSmith-lo3mj
      @BrianSmith-lo3mj 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you are right to assume they live in the rust belt. That job would have been 100 times easier if salt wouldn't have got in between that hanger bolt and the bushing. I have a similar 2008 Ford Ranger that lived close to Lincoln, Nebraska all of it's life and there is hardly any rust on it.

      I’ve a 98 with 233,000 miles ranger here in Arkansas, has some surface rust but not bad and some rangers are known to have very bad rust issues.

    Is the rear end stock? I have an 03 with drums and if the 2011's have disc I'd love to swap my rear end out.

    Did you do torsion crank on the front tires?

    • @AbnormalGarage
      @AbnormalGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we swapped out the factory torsion bar key for an aftermarket one to raise the height in the front. If you look through my channel you’ll find the video where we did the install.

    • @mattwest7413
      @mattwest7413 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok perfect. And what duralast suspension did you guys replace with? And cant you just adjust the torsion crank without replacing components?

    • @AbnormalGarage
      @AbnormalGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We went with Duralast OEM replacement shocks that we picked up at Autozone. And yes, you could adjust the factory torsion bar to raise the front, but we decided to go with the Rough Country torsion bar keys. We didn’t want to affect the ride harshness. The aftermarket torsion bar keys give the truck a slight lift, while still feeling like a factory ride.

    are the shocks the same length or are they longer because of the lift? I just bought a Wulf kit for my ranger and I'm not sure if the shocks need to be replaced.

    • @AbnormalGarage
      @AbnormalGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s the same length as the factory shocks.

    • @StalinPash
      @StalinPash 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@kevinv6280 if its the 3 inch leveling kit. Just put one on mine. Its pretty straight forward. Big tip: Buy front bolts and nuts for bottom of front springs as they are studded on the factory ones. Not on the aftermarket shocks.

      Abnormal Garage sweet and no issues due to the lift? I only ask because im planning to do the same lift on my ranger and not many extended shock options for the 4wd

    • @AbnormalGarage
      @AbnormalGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No issues so far. When we did the lift we replaced the original shocks with some new factory shocks since the ones that were on the truck were all rusted, and blown out. Other than that they’ve held up great.
