    You have a very rare, optioned Montero. The front bumper on your Montero (We had it on ours) Was a factory catalog Mitsubishi part that you could buy from Mitsubishi. Very rare to see them with the bumpers.

    That Aisin SP3 Trans fluid is Castrol Dex 3 mate, so Castrol is also good. We use Castrol here in Australia.

    Great video as always Owen. I'm about to change my Gen 2.5 trans mount this weekend. Since I am not changing the filter I thought I would support the transmission with a 2x4 and floor jack spreading the load across the pan. I can't really see in the video where you have the transmission supported with the jack while the mount is off. I'm looking in the FSM as well. . Where in the video is a good shot of the where the jack pad is supporting the transmission?

    • @owen_03montero
      @owen_03montero  ปีที่แล้ว

      At the back of the transmission/tcase there is a little spot where you can support it with a jack. Hard to miss it it’s a square spot I believe

    Nice video.I have a 2001 montero xls and have a question. I recently changed the power steering fluid with "Prestone Power Steering Fluid Plus Stop Leak". I also saw online that some owners use "Valvoline MaxLife Multi-Vehicle Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid ". Do need to change the P/S fluid again or keep the one that I already used? Thanks.

  • @scaraus1

    Good resource for trans mount change, however trans fluid was only half changed, may want to unplug the front radiator hoses after that to pump out the second half.

    • @owen_03montero
      @owen_03montero  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did several drain and fills. Don’t want to shock the transmission with all new fluid

      @@owen_03montero ok, so it's fair to be reflected in your clip description , otherwise it's kind of misleading. And btw filter should be changed only at the end of partial cycled change , otherwise all the dirt will get back into the new one.

    Hey Owen! You got the same car as me mate! Aren't they great? Have you got 33" tyres? Did you need to do a body lift or suspension upgrade to get them on? How does she run with bigger tyres?

      How many miles on it and when was the last service? If it’s at 400k and never been serviced, the transmission may be relying on the abrasive content suspended in the fluid. With an old unloved transmission, it can be better to leave well enough alone.
