Not a huge Toby Keith fan, but man, this song… I was in our local Kroger around 9 am on September 11 this year. This was released a few months after 9/11 and is a tribute to his father and the fallen. Another great 9/11 song is Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning) by the always amazing Alan Jackson.
American Soldier is another great one of his. I saw him when I was in Bosnia in 2002 and he was doing a USO tour. The soldiers in the official video were filmed in Kosovo and Bosnia. I knew a few people in them and got to meet him as I was a Black Hawk crew chief and my company flew him around the country. One of the guys in the official video was killed in Afghanistan a year later. We went to AIT together and deployed twice together before he passed.
Hey Bro, I saw him on the same tour KFOR 4A May 2002-Dec 2002. He flew into Camp McGrath Kosovo. He put on a unplugged (all acoustic) show for us. Bigger than life he was. He took the time to chat and ask and answer questions. Just a nice guy.
American Soldier was one of the songs on my retirement slideshow when I hung up my boots after 22 1/2 years in the Air Force. I have many favorites but that one definitely makes the list. I'm not even a huge fan of his but there are certain songs that just hit you in all the right places.

Toby Keith is an amazing person and it was an honor to work with him. Not only is he a huge patriot, but he helps people in any way he can. He took time to help us put some music together for a project we were working on for college. I used to play guitar, but after high-school it was more of if I had time and couldn't read music anymore. After we struck and loaded out his show, Toby stayed for nearly 2 hrs to help us. I still am flabbergasted by his generosity and love to give back. He got involved with wounded warriors with Trace Atkins and we got to work with him again later on. Toby has so many great songs, but I would suggest "should have been a cowboy" as you will hear his complete vocal range...for a fun song "red solo cup" and the song that sums up getting older (it is newer) good as I once was. Those show his abilities, personality and humility. American Soldier is truly personal for Toby and it is tough to listen to without getting emotional. Thank you for doing videos like these.. I love to see people hear music for the first time. I have to be honest, your Metallica video was gut busting. It was just after the fall of USSR and just outside of Moscow and pretty much the first time rock and metal was allowed in public there. It was about 1.8 million people and there is a long running joke that people are still making their way back home. May have already been mentioned, but there's an official video of this song when it came out after 9/11 that you should definitely check out. This is a slightly different version he did during Trump's inauguration in Jan. 2017 (most performers avoided it like poison, and Toby was one of the few who had the balls to perform there.)
@@DarenDavisAK I actually recall, back during the Dixie Chicks brouhaha, Toby stating that he's a Democrat. He's just an America-loving, non-far-left Democrat. He may have changed to Republican some time in the last 20 years, though, I don't know.

@@rikosborne1212 Toby Keith is pretty weird with politics. He’s been friends with a former Democrat New Mexico Governor for a long time. But he never did support the Iraq War despite the whole Dixie Chicks situation

I get tears in my eyes when I hear this and other patriotic songs. My dad was in the military for over 30 years and I have great love for our country. I'm so sad when others don't feel the same way. Shame on them.
My dad fought in the American uniform in WW2 and so did most of my friends' fathers if they were living here at the time. It seemed that every block had its chapter of the Jewish War Veterans. They all knew what they were fighting for, and so do we.

God rest Toby Keith, this man became the voice of America when we needed it. There wasn't a radio station that didn't play this song during the early 2000's.
Toby Keith is one of my all time favorite country singers, what i love about him is his voice and how playful most of his songs are, you should definitely listen to; Not as good as i once was, wanna talk about me how do you like me now, I Love this Bar, I'm just talking about tonight, I'll never smoke weed with Willie again, and many many many more huge amazing songs but those are my favorites and all on the more playful side, though he has tons of serious/sad/romantic songs too
Toby Keith is one of my favorite singers, and this is one of my favorite songs. They call me Toby at work. It has always been my dream to sing this with Toby. Recently I was I a very serious car accident where another car swerved into my lane leaving me with a broken back and a broken neck. Well, I do not know what war feels like. But if it is anything like the explosion head that day I so much feel for and respect our men and women in the service. It has been about 5 months now, and I am still healing. I am going through physical therapy learning to walk again. And all this time I have been working, mainly from home, to support my family. My wife and I have 10 children, most who have been adopted, and several with special needs. During the last few months I can honestly say that my wife is my hero, and I love her very much. My kids have served their Dad during this time, everything from helping out my socks and shoes to bringing me my food. You cannot ask for more than that. Well, back to the song. This song reminds me to be grateful to all of the men and women who have served and even sacrificed their lives for our great country. Who knows? Perhaps one day I will be able to sing this song with Toby Keith. I still have a ways to go and perhaps one or 2 surgeries. But this song gives me hope to keep pushing and working hard. After all our men and women in service do that every day for us and most without thanks. God bless our men and women in service and God bless America! Oh, by the way, my Dad was in the Air Force. He passed away on July 4. So I never ever forget this day! He was my hero too. God bless!
Toby I'd battling stomach cancer. He needs our prayers. He lives about 30 miles from me. I was acquainted with his father that he mentions in the video. The boot in your ass line sounds just like HK, his dad.
When this song came out we needed it. He toured all over for the military. Still makes me angry and cry, lost a few people 9/11. He has great respect for military not political crap!
I like the official version better but the song touches me every time I hear it whatever version. You should react to 'The Big Blue Note' next. Another thought provoking song written after the attack on USA on 911.
I sure hope you watch the actual video. This was a different feel! However, I LOVE IT! This Fourth Of July celebration was a first for me mad my Active Duty husband EVER! We’ve been Active Duty for 27 yrs now. THIS SPECIFIC fourth, President Trump invited as many Active Duty Military member as he could to come celebrate with him. My husband and our kids all have AMAZING seats right close to the front and for the FIRST TIME in MY KIDS LIVES, someone said “Thank You”, to THEM! People often forget the military kids give just as much as the members for our freedoms. They’ve lost birthdays, holidays, award ceremonies, proms, graduations, etc.etc.etc. For THAT ACT ALONE, President Trump will always have my support.
Speaking of Toby's gifted voice, you should hear him do ballads and love songs. There's one I think you should listen to. The title is You Leave Me Weak. I was with them in Vegas some years back and I thought we were gonna have to pass around the smelling salts ha. He also writes his own songs and has won many awards for them. Another cut is called The Lonely. Clearly his vocals on it are stellar! Happy tunes bra
The recommendations so far are really fun songs but if want to truly appreciate his voice I would recommend one of his ballads. You shouldn't kiss me like that. Would be a great start. By the way he writes or co-writes almost all of his own songs
I remember 9/11/01 and I will never forget that terrific day I thought my life was going to end with a lot of other Americans. I can remember every detail everything that happened. And the sadness I felt to think that a bunch of cows could get in our plane and attacked the motherland. Well it was a bright sunny hot day I could feel the sun burning my arms I was standing outside. And Toby Keith has captured the moments of that time. The first thing I thought of was my kids they were up and down the Eastern Seward and I figured they were safe for a while even though I was 99 miles away from New York. Thought I was grateful or that they would be safe. I didn't even feel fear that day I don't think I felt anything. When the entire story broke out. But Toby Keith said it the way America felt it. And he put it to words. There will never be a song as beautiful or a sincere as it was that day. He was an angry American as the rest of us were and we still have a lot of bad effects from it. But Toby Keith gives us hope. God bless you Toby Keith. You know not only sang the words you felt the words as we did. God Bless America! And God bless Toby Keith for keeping it real. 🤠🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸❣️🌹🔥🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I remember 9/11/01 and the words was horrific I will never forget that day! It will live in my heart forever. I remember from months after it was over but it was never over lying in my bed at night and waking up to the sound of my fan whirring and thinking it was planes flying over us to bomb us. And I know these horrific Memories live on in our hearts and the fear that it could happen again but we're American Patriots and we're strong and we will stand together as always. God Bless America and God bless Toby Keith for feeling so angry that day that he wrote this meaningful song. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ God Bless America and God bless Toby Keith. And God bless our flag forever may she wave or the land of the free and the home of the brave! Amen 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I'll remember that day for the rest of my life, I was 19 working at my first job as a professional welder inside of a big pipe smoothing my welds over with my tig torch. I heard alarms going off and my fitter grabbed me by the ankles and pulled me out and stood me up. I saw everyone in the shop gathered around a little battery powered tv/radio at the break area, I got there just in time to see the second tower get hit...and cut away scenes to the pentagon being hit. I couldn't process it at all. By the time I made it home that day I had filled out applications at the AF, Army and Marines recruiting offices. But in five hours they had more recruits than they could possibly need or process.
I have so much respect for this man and Kelly Pickler. They have mostly done USO tours for the past 20 years. You rarely hear drama about him and you don't even see him at award shows. A very patriotic man!
MrLboyd I've stood less than 50 ft from Toby Keith at an event of his and the man's voice is even better in real life. That day was like 100 in Atlanta that day and I was getting chills it was that great💯

God bless!
Another hugely patriotic country song: “The Fighting Side of Me,” by Merle Haggard.
Toby Keith is the best. I am a fan of his and will be for my entire life. Good man. Love Toby Keith
Red, white, and blue for life. Great song. Thank you and happy to see the solid video again
Toby I'd battling stomach cancer. He needs our prayers. He lives about 30 miles from me. I was acquainted with his father that he mentions in the video. The boot in your ass line sounds just like HK, his dad.
Toby Keith and Willy Nelson did a great song together . . . Beer For My Horses . . . You should check it out.
I agree it's a great song.
When this song came out we needed it. He toured all over for the military. Still makes me angry and cry, lost a few people 9/11. He has great respect for military not political crap!
Saw him in Baghdad. He was exhausted and so were we. Great man
Toby always shows love for the military. Listen to American Soldier, it’s a masterpiece.
To this day ,, this song gives me chills and makes me cry
I like the official version better but the song touches me every time I hear it whatever version. You should react to 'The Big Blue Note' next. Another thought provoking song written after the attack on USA on 911.
Hes one of My Favorite Country Singers!!! A True American!! 💯 and an AMAZING TRUE COUNTRY SINGER!! 💞
I love Toby Keith's voice, and love for all people. He's one loving/kind man. With so many hits.
“How do you like me now.” This is a great anthem song about showing up people who didn’t believe in you.
My favorite version is when he was singing directly to the troops!
my FAVORITE song!!!!!!!
Love Toby Keith! I've been a fan since the beginning. Thank you for reacting to this song💖
God bless Toby Keith and all of my brothers and sisters, past, present and future.
After this one you should definitely check out "The Taliban Song" by Tony Keith
Just old country boy thank you for what you do awesome presentation God bless you
I didnt know this is what I needed to see tonight lol.
Loved the song! Love America!! God bless the USA!!
The recommendations so far are really fun songs but if want to truly appreciate his voice I would recommend one of his ballads. You shouldn't kiss me like that. Would be a great start. By the way he writes or co-writes almost all of his own songs
@MrLBoyd thank you for posting and reviewing this song. You're a true patriot! God Bless You! 🇺🇸
Love Toby Keith!
Your glow was on ! The brighter the glow I think the more you enjoy a song! I watch for that tell tale sign, “the glow”
TY
Seems like you were really enjoying this bro. I enjoyed seeing it everyone’s happy. Can’t go wrong with this song 👍👍👍
And I know these horrific
Memories live on in our hearts and the fear that it could happen again but we're American Patriots and we're strong and we will stand together as always. Amen 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
This song, like most of TK's releases, is *violently* patriotic and if you don't love it he'll put a boot in yer ask. It's the American way.
I specifically like this specific type of content
Great artist - great reaction - and God bless all of you in America as a well wishing athiest should do so !
Luv ya work maaaaaate
Thanks for TRUMP for inviting him!
Not a man alive more patriotic than TOBY KEITH !!’
You've gotta do "As Good As I Once Was"...it is hilarious
Boy do I love this song, and man do I love Toby Keith
Toby Keith's song "I'll Never Smoke Weed with Willie Again" should be your next song.
Absolutely
I love Toby. Prayers for him.
Go Trump! 🇺🇸🔥😃👍🎄
I have so much respect for this man and Kelly Pickler. They have mostly done USO tours for the past 20 years. You rarely hear drama about him and you don't even see him at award shows. A very patriotic man!
Please do Some Gave All by Billy Ray Cyrus.
Wishing TK strength and love as he continues to fight stomach cancer. Glad I was able to see in 2019.
There's another live version of him singing just to the troops that's even better than this one.
Need more of these kinds of songs!. The love of Americans for all the sacrifices made for our freedom!
TRUMP!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤💪😎
MrLboyd I've stood less than 50 ft from Toby Keith at an event of his and the man's voice is even better in real life. That day was like 100 in Atlanta that day and I was getting chills it was that great💯
Where is this Toby Keith for today? Need more than ever before! Raise it up again!🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷
