Fun fact: Ed punching back through the door was not originally in the manga, but Arakawa herself loved the new addition. Bradley is basically a human-based homunculus with only one soul. With the others, what we know so far is that they were artificially made and have multiple souls within them because of the stone. So in comparison to that, Bradley's kind of the same but also really different from them. "Big brother...wanna play? Let's play" Ed's still thinking of Nina! Makes sense, especially when he's basically facing a similar situation to back then again. He was helpless to do anything to help Nina, and he's helpless to do anything for the people trapped in Envy.
i remember i was showing this anime to my ex and she just burst out crying at the "big brother wanna play" moment. hell i get watery at that moment every time. this is one of the things that brothers will remember for the rest of their life. one of the strength of this show nothing is unimportant in the story

And they both compare their actions to what humans do. To Envy, using human souls to heal and change his appearance is like a human using wood to make a fire to cook and stay warm. To Dio, eating humans to heal and perform outrages attacks is like a human eating food to give themselves nutrients to live and grow.

Yes! This is important!! I feel they misunderstand how Homunculi are made after seeing Bradley's backstory. Wrath / Bradley is unique as he is the ONLY Homunculi who was originally HUMAN. He was an Experiment Humonculi, since the bad guys were trying to make Wrath be someone who'd look and act as "human" as possible (Which is why he is the only Humonculi who ages & gets older). The rest of the Homunculi are artificial beings built & extracted from Father. Lust / Gluttony / Envy were never people beforehand, so they regenerate and never age.
Fun fact: Wrath’s souls killed each other until there was only one left, the most wrathful one survived so Bradley can’t regenerate (not like he needs to, he’s already super op)
I can’t express how much I adore the scene of Ed punching through the door. The manga (which is generally agreed to cover all bases perfectly) didn’t even have it! It’s such a simple addition but holds so much meaning and says so much about Ed and Al as characters and brothers I just LOVE IT! Fullmetal is one of the best series of all time.
The "Big brother" scene still haunts me to this day. Although it is clearer in the manga that Nina is not inside Envy, it's just one of the many souls says Oni-chan(a common way to refer to a brother figure) and Ed remembers Nina.
About the intro's. A season in tv shows in Japan is different from what a season for US tv show. In one year, there are 4 seasons in Japan. Four representing the 4 different "seasonal" change (Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter). Usually one season in anime is composed of 13 episodes within 3 months. There will be some cases that the anime finishes shorter or longer than 13 episodes. Those happen because either budget constraint. Or because scheduled day of the show, forced them to make the show shorter or longer because of the calendar. In the case long running shows like FMAB, a change of intro is to signify a new anime season has started. Hopefully that clarifies why there would be multiple intro songs.
Plus all the intro/outro songs and the animation of them are freaking amazing, why does it even need an explanation. I myself was disappointed how the Normies (except maybe Suraj) literally said the song of the 2nd opening was bad because it wasn't so upbeat or something. I hope they like the rest of the opening songs, but at least one of them is also not upbeat at all, and that one totally amazing too.

The six that came before him were created from scratch. Xerxes was destroyed a long time before the series began. Can't say when.
About Envy weighing more, it's nothing about the amount of souls in their stone. It's because of Envy's "monster form". As you can see, when Envy transforms into this form, it's vastly different from just changing their appearance like they've done many other times. Because this form comes from *within* Envy (you can see it during transformation, it's like the monster pours out of their body), which would mean all of that weight is somehow compact into their usual human form. As for how that works, I imagine it has something to do with the philosopher's stone. But it could just be anime magic.
Speaking of the intro, I don't know if you've talked about this but in the old one, I always thought that it was Ed reaching out his hands for Trisha (the boys' mother) but then I realized it's a young Hohenheim. Just something I remembered watching you talk about the theme songs.

Out of all the episodes that are important to the story, I'd say this is one that's a major key player in all of this. Past episodes have usually had big reveals or twists with some Foreshadowing, while this episode carries a lot of foreshadowing and events to come. There's others that do carry the same amount, if not more in the future, but this is one of the few that have actually started to turn the series down a singular path. For the most part, it's been "set up a main event, see it through, another event cuts in the middle, deal with it" and the rest starts taking somewhat of a different approach.
Interesting note. On Ed's portal all the engravings that shape a tree represent all the alchemical knowledge that he knows. But at the very bottom of the tree at the center of the roots is a circle (which the tree sprouts from) with the word Adonai. Which is the Hebrew name for God.
Envy has the power to take other forms because that’s the basis of envy itself - the desire to have what others have. So he can take their names, their shapes, their faces, their voices. Paying attention to that specific power and the meaning of his name, you realize that envy is envious of human beings and secretly wishes he was one.
Just to clarify, Xerxes is an old civilization in the middle of the desert between Amestris (the country that we are in) and Xing (the country that Ling and May are from). It was previously mentioned that the city was in ruins but no one knows why. There is a legend that someone came from Xerxes to introduce alchemy in Amestris, while in Xing they have a similar legend that a sage came from there to teach them Alcahestry. When Ed went to Xerxes (when they went to see Ross), he found out that a lot of Ishvalans had gone there to live as refugees. That was also when he found out Scar killed Winry's parents. Ishval is a separate place and is the country/city that the Ishvalans came from originally. It was annexed by Amestris and the whole civil war occurred there. I think it happened around 10 years ago. Ed and Al haven't gone there before, but if you look at the map they show in the show sometimes, there hometown (Risembool) is fairly close to it.

King Bradley is the only human Homunculus. They wanted to make a Homunculus the leader of Amestris but since Homunculi never age it may have been too obvious so they created a human homunculus. Though the 2006 anime did try that on most of the other homunculi I believe.

I think an interesting poll might be which opening do people like more, the 1st or 2nd? I enjoy the 1st but I favor the 2nd over the 1st. Spoilers ahead to those who have not finished the show... They do make a call back to the 2nd opening in the final episode and I wonder if it is because the song is more upbeat or because the anime studio staff and/or mangaka enjoyed it more out of the 5 openings and wanted to end with it?
