[Chorus]
I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell
You the difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith, hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love
“Where were you when they built that ladder to heaven..”
Where were you when they ran out of stuff to build the ladder to heaven?

Ladder to heaven.
I was a newly promoted police sergeant on my days off... 3,000 miles west of the towers. I got a call and I went to work to help make people at least feel safe. The most important conversation I had that day was with a pastor, Morris Curry. I went to work to assure people, Pastor Curry came in to the office to assure me (and a lot of others in town). I am much older and retired but I remember where I was when I saw the towers fall, I remember that day, and I will always remember Pastor Curry's words of assurance and God's grace, brother to brother in the Lord! This song always makes me remember those things... and the greatest is Love!
Where were you when they built that🪜to heaven ☁️
Amen

We learned about 911 in English class today and it was sad Rest in peace to all people who perished in this tragic event and please let all suvivors heal from this Trauma in Jesus name, Amen❤
I lived it in the classroom. Watched the second tower fall on TV just as I walked into homeroom. I don't remember falling to the ground, nor when I started to cry.
I pray that the ones who lost all their love ones, friends, and brothers/sisters in red and blue. Lord may we never forget. Amen.
Did they teach you that the government pointed fingers and painted targets for 20 years just to tuck tail in the name of the american soldier?
Hope so, weve got the data now.
I was only 1 when this happened but I cannot begin to fathom what those people had to endure. Huge respects to Alan for this one. RIP to all those who lost their lives that day.

When the first one hit I was putting lawn mower blades on the mower when the second one hit and we realized we was under attack I was operating a weed eater on our first yard of the day I took off we went to Jonathan's bar and grill and eat food drink beer and watch it on TV that evening to listen to my boss's son and my son talking about being scared and about the planes hitting the world definitely stood still that day

@alanjackson.Thank you so much Alan.this song will never get old.❤
I was 7 years old when the attack happened. My parents for obvious reasons didn't want me to see the news footage, so they sent me to my room as they watched it in the living room. But I can remember sitting in the hallway watching it without them knowing. It's a very vivid memory, even though I was too young to really comprehend what was going on, I can still remember it like it was yesterday.

Here on September 11th 2022, the world has changed so much since this catastrophic day. So many American lives were lost. It was however a day of National Unity, I was in a classroom in the 9th grade. Among fellow Americans of every race and religious belief. Nothing mattered except our American pride. I miss the days of unity. God bless the men and women who lost their lives, and to the ones who are still protecting our freedom.
I’ll be honest, this is the first time I’ve heard this song. I cried like a baby and still do whenever 9/11 is spoken of. It was present times replay of Pearl Harbor, only a different assailant. NO ONE will ever forget, NEVER!!! God Bless ALL who served and still serve. God Bless the USA !!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️❤️❤️
God bless everyone who survived and who lost their lives like my uncle.

Standing in my chiefs office, watching WTVD. When the second plane hit, he hit the alarm, and woke up the whole crew. 2 hours later, we were on a plane bound for McGuire AFB. From there, it was only a short hop to Manhattan, and hell on earth. I still cough up small black balls when I get winded, but I'd do it again in a heart beat. Doesn't seem like 20 years has passed. Hell, I'm not that old am I. Yeah, I guess I am. I hope they replay the video, just so the kids today can see what we get so upset about. They need to remember this day, and the people who we lost. Never forget December 7th, or September 11th. Days that changed the world.

I come back to this song every year since I heard it as a child. My experience with 9/11 was reading books and watching a VHS tape my mom had recorded of the news. I was born too late to experience it. I can’t imagine the pain it brings to those who did experience it. I pray for this nation, that God grant us all peace.
I too come back to this song every year. I watched when Alan first played this song on TV live. My mom and I cried for a while and my dad proclaimed we need his CD when came out. I remember being in school when it happened. A lot of us where in shocked and some of us cried because we were scared. Even though we were more then a days drive away, it felt like it was in our back yard as kids. I honestly don't think any of us felt safe for a long time. It was so weird because I lived by an airport at the time. It was so quiet (outside of trains in the distance) that the silence scared you and when air traffic resumed, we all got edgy when we heard a plane go over head. Not knowing if there was going to be another attack not. So yes. I come back to never forget.
I was in high school. Watching in horror. My dad was in the pentagon, but safe. Thank god 🙏
I come to this song every year. I had just woke up I was living in the west coast getting ready for school it was so surreal. I was panicking thinking it was ongoing seeing the pentagon and Pennslyvania. I remember when I got to school my friends and I all cried
I listen to this song every year as my personal tribute and say a prayer. So thankful Alan put in words what we were all feeling. He has got to be a great guy. I love this country and I don't want anyone causing damage. Like damage being caused by corrupt people in office. I pray that changes soon. May God Bless America.
Born in 98, was in preschool and vaguely remember the lockdown at school... Also remember being home and my mom being extremely worried. Wouldn't fully grasp these events until much later. I found this song in 8th grade and always make a point to play it when it comes up on shuffle.
One of the last great country singers!!
ALWAYS AN ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL SONG, W/ POIGNANT MESSAGE!!! WE NEED TO REMEMBER & THINK!!! 🤔❤
I was at a Sprint site in Cheyenne Wyoming. One of the guys on the job ask me if I had heard the news about the the plane hitting the WTC. A few minutes later another plane hit. We were told to leave the job site and my crew and I went to my motel room and watched everything on TV. Every emotion that I knew of , ran through me that day. We called the red cross and they did not need any blood. I called the Army recruiting office to re-up. They said I was to old. The anger in me needed a release and all I could do was cry. I WILL NEVER FORGET. Jack Marsh

I was sitting in our office at work here in England on that fateful morning, one of our managers ran into the office and got it up on the internet and we saw the plane just going into the second tower. We were all in tears and in utter shock and disbelief. We were all just completely stunned and I remember feeling absolutely numb. I remember it like it was yesterday :( My heart was well and truly with America, here in England we all just felt so helpless :(

I'd just walked home from work. My mum was hanging up baby stuff in the garden my sister was sitting at the dinning room table knitting, heavily pregnant with my niece. She said something has happened in New York, but I missed the end of the news. I walked up stairs and turned on the TV The first image. The plane hitting the second tower. I thought, What film is this...? Then it all became horrifically clear as it unfolded on the news.

Never forget the lost souls and the survivors.🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️
Its not like that anymore unfortunatley.
Sadly, not every American. Muslims and Sikhs alike were targeted for being brown and not Christian, by fearful and angry people who didn't understand whom they thought they were angry at.
My mom was telling me the other day how after 9/11 Americans were the most untied she had ever seen them, too bad it didn't last.
Me too as hard as that was to hear
I wasn't even born yet but i still will never forget what happened
I remember it all like it was yesterday. I'll never think about that day without feeling that ache, or without tears. My heart has never stopped hurting for all those we lost. Especially those I called friends. May they, and all the soldiers and civilians who died in the war after that rest in peace.
A day I'll never forget, working at Conoco petroleum plant in Ponca City Oklahoma, took a break and went to the break room to get a drink and everybody was watching TV, and I saw the second plane hit we found out that Conoco was on a list to be attacked
Sept 12th i was standing in a line full of ppl who had loved ones in NYC waiting to give blood. We were truly a nation of ONE!
I wasn't even conceived yet and I still find this song deep and impactful.
Alan Jackson's greatest work in my opinion. The 20th anniversary of 9/11 is less than 6 months away...I hope radio stations across the country play this song and Daryl Worley's "Have You Forgotten?" again and again. Don't act like we don't feel the pain. Pain lasts generations.
I’ll never be able to fully understand the panic & terror but I fully respect those who died, suffered, & managed to survived. My family is full of military members & first responders, there’s no way I’m forgetting September 11th, 2001.
@Kiri Pebble My best friend's 50th birthday was on 9/11 It often makes the comment it's a birthday he'll never forget. Had another friend who was a flight coordinator for Fedex. He worked nights and the night of 9/11 he showed up at work, he hadn't watched tv or listened to the radio so when he got to work he found the gates locked and the guard to him we're closed he responded We're Fedex we never close!! The guard had to break the news to him. I still get emotional on 9/11. It was my generation's Pearl Harbor.
I never thought about it this way but you may be right. You had to be there to understand. USA was so united. Love Toby Keith's Red white and blue too. He did a tour and performed to soldiers and that footage is what he used in that video
@@wannabedrewafualo You need to understand some of us thought it was the beginning of WWIII we thought that at at any moment the nukes were going to start launching. Alan Jackson is a gifted songwriter. Thank you Alan Jackson for this beautiful song. 21 years ago today something happened that none of us ever expected. At that time I was in my 4-wheel-driving-car on my way to the end of the day and heard it on the radio (with a time difference). I was still in training at the time. And I was in shock right away and almost caused another accident.... It was always my dream to fly to America one day, to see this great country and to be at the top of the WTC. That dream shattered then. Since that day I pray every year on 9/11 for the dead, their bereaved, the heroes and the soldiers. ... My name is Daniel Hertrampf, I am 41 years old and German. I live in a small village in southern Bavaria and have been a big fan of American country music and southern rock since I was young. As well as America itself.. God bless America and the rest of the world so that something terrible like this never happens again. #neverforget

I just love this song-so much meaning; even for us in Australia-that fateful day, brought tears from many! Alan Jackson truly sings from the Heart!
God bless America.
still missed, still loved, RIP to all the loved ones
I'm a foster child. But the man who raised me used to play this song all the time. Dad.. I miss you. I really miss you. In fact, as I'm writing this my eyes are leaking. You always taught me it wasn't weak to cry. Yet here I sit crying because you passed on. Rip David midland.
I’m sorry for your loss man make your father Rest In Peace
I'm so sorry you! I didn't lose anyone but our hearts broke that day! First time I saw my husband sobbing with at that day!
I am so sorry for your loss
I'm not crying your crying
❤🙏
20years. And it still plays on everyone’s mind. Never forget. Never forget the emergency services that helped, and lost their lives. To the random strangers who helped other strangers survive and not themselves. You are remembered. After all these years, thoughts and love are with those affected during this time.
thanks for your love and support, I’d like to give you an opportunity for you to have a private conversation with me 🌹
