      If you're going into streaming, especially on Twitch, do it for the right reasons. Don't do it because you have rent to pay or you want to "climb the ladder." Do it because you've got a voice and you've got a reason, a purpose for going into streaming.
      I have two: 1, I want my sense of humor, my voice, and my love of using cartoony sound effects to be a welcome change and a safe haven for people who are going through a hard time or having a rough day, and just need somewhere nice and lively and positive to go to take their mind off things. 2, I'm using Twitch as a foundation for my greater creative endeavors, such as writing cartoons, which is something I will be doing in the future.
      Having a purpose or a reason to go into streaming that involves something greater than yourself will keep you going through the tough times and will make the entire journey worthwhile in the long run. You'll also feel more real to people and they'll see that it's not about you. At most, it's an idea or cause that you have decided to broadcast through your stream.
      And just remember, streaming is not for everyone. :)

      Did you mention to make the schedule you come up with available with every source or tool you have available as a streamer. For example using Panels right, publishing it on the personal social media or discod you got? Might have not heard that. Otherwise great video as always :)

    • @trueimp4ct
      @trueimp4ct 6 ปีที่แล้ว +48

      I’ll be honest. I have to disagree with you friend. Yes there there are tons of streamers out there but streaming is about so much more. There are 8 billion people on this planet with the generation of people who watch twitch/streaming as a form of entertainment. Showing how you can be unique is how you can maintain your viewers. No angle needed. Just the right mindset and good entertainment that people can relate to.

    • @hyperion2189
      @hyperion2189 6 ปีที่แล้ว +44

      You can pick literally any game with a few hundred to two or three thousand viewers total, and around a 10 average viewership would put you in the top three rows of the directory. It's there where you will start to see your growth snowball, as I did when I started.
      I went from zero in June 2018, to partnered in April, to 130 average over June and July.
      It can be done. Yes, many games are saturated, but there are plenty that aren't. The best thing you can do is be willing to do anything and be strategic with your growth plan. As long as you create great content, the rest will take care of itself.
      The problem I have with the "Twitch is too saturated" angle is this comes from people that want to grow playing games like Fortnite, for example.

    something that really helped me be able to talk during my streams is starting out recording youtube videos. Ive transitioned into streaming bc that what I like more at the moment but ive gone to streams where people will say something once every min and its very uninteresting. Also, youtube is a much better platform for small streamers than twitch because you actually get recommended to people who watch content like yours, whereas twitch, people have to actually go looking and its only a coincidence that they find you. I use restream and stream to both at the same time so im not missing out on either ends, but a lot of the time ill have 0-1 people join on twitch and maybe 20 people cycle through on youtube. Also streaming a very popular game on youtube isn't as detrimental as it is on twitch.

    Good video man. One thing you forgot, is that this is at the end of the day, a giant popularity contest. You can do everything right, and still get no growth. Its like being in high school, the popular kids get all the friends, the less popular have only like 5 friends. This is the online equivalent to this, and I'll be honest, 1 year of streaming and content creating, all while running a real business in the world (an automotive garage), I got some growth. But I also scouted other streamers, and I'll tell you, they got thousands of viewers, but they're incredibly boring. I couldn't even sit for 5 minutes because I was so bored. Sometimes I see people eating and they got 5K in their viewership. Of course I see the boobies, those streamers have an insanely high viewer count, its obvious why that is. Once I saw a guy putting on makeup, with near 8 thousand viewers. How are any of these people getting over a thousand viewers?
    Seems like you gotta appeal to a certain type out there, and its like playing the popularity game in high school. This is what I've learned on my 1 year journey of live streaming and content creating. I guess I'll see what I learn in year 2.

    I've only been streaming on Twitch for a week the most viewers I had was 7 but average around 3. I started off with 9 follows. I've got to be there abouts with regards to how I want my stream to look and still taking steps on how to improve it technically. I come under the 'Music and Performance' category as a Dj and is heavily saturated by professionals. I'm only part time and only have the basics in terms of hardware but at the moment it's the best it can be (For now). Anyhow, this insight is very informative and I thank you for sharing. Consistency is my main issue, having a toddler to care for and a baby on the way makes keeping to a schedule extremely difficult because every day/night is different. Like, I can't guarantee I'll be able to stream at the time my schedule says because that specific night my toddler might have trouble sleeping or other needs. So I've basically come to terms with the fact my stream might never really grow. I stream when I can because it's fun and once my kids are older and more independent I'll try to reach for the growth I want.

    I hit affiliate in 3 days but to be completely honest I may have got lucky but just a little tip guys is that If you aren’t fully about it or fully ready to try and make it it won’t work. I think if you go make a Instagram, TH-cam , twitch etc. and start actually caring the rest comes easy cause it shows your vested in the stream when you have links to our social and all the stuff you’ve done to contribute to your stream people see that as someone who has there stuff together

    • @Clappincheeks1time
      @Clappincheeks1time 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel it just makes your self more presentable and it makes you care more due to the time you’ve put in to it . Also another tip is offer to play with viewers just say I’m a streamer looking for group or something of that nature and if they’re having fun 9 times outa ten they’ll say what was your stream and there you have it a follower and a friend is gained. Take it one by one and set goals that are achievable so that when you hit them your morale is boosted

      @CirqueAlvis 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this is a year old, but I don't think that "not using a webcam" will hinder your growth (that part is where I disagree with the video). You can still have the possibility of growing, even without a webcam, just be active in talking and being expressive. If you don't have viewers, be open to yourself on talking alone, like stating what you're doing, thinking, planning, and other stuff that goes in your mind while playing something-it's like doing a long winded presentation. Then maybe once there's someone there watching/lurking, they might actually chat with you and stay or even follow to watch your future streams.

    A tip I have always found very helpful is more of not what to do but what not to do. Follow for Follows are not a good method of growth. You will grow in numbers, sure, but those are what I like to call empty Followers. They follow you with no intention of watching your stream. You want authentic growth. Meaningful growth. F4F will not get you there.

    man all these videos dont "really " help lol.. it is what it is.. if you dont got the talent to be a streamer then you dont period. just like sports. if youre not good then youre not good. u can have the best designs, best audio, best game, etc.. youre still gonna have 1-3 views. its reality.
    you basically gotta get lucky like the lottery. roll the dice and stream and see if you get it and if you dont then forget it.
    dont lie doh folks.. most girls with nice assests gets the views real quick, then on top of that some of them have cool personality and boom they are in game over lol.. guys wit just great personality and good at the game , cant compete with that, hell no lol.
    even pro players cant get top views like easy. they strugglin too. streaming in this 2017- and up is hella hard to get views. because its SOOO EASY TO SET UP STREAM and everybody is doing it. its MAIN STREAM NOW. anything in general "live stream " is hard to get views. when ppl were streaming back in 2006ish-12 or whatever , it was a underground thing. back then ppl was uploading videos instead of streaming. NOW EVERYBODY IS STREAMING LOL. u have to be EXTRA TALENTED, EXTRA CUTE, A NICE PERSONALITY PRO GAMER, OR JUST PLAIN O LUCKY. PERIOD.
    now for them rare streamers that just streams just to have small chat wit thier small community like friends, or random ppl ( 3-7 views) and they are chilin and enjoying themselves , thats all good.
    but once u stress about getting money, full time, getting views, trying to be that next sexy girl because she get views, twitch acting lol, not being yourself, sell-out, asking for money ( donate button EVERYWHERE) putting ads on every 10 mins,girls showing off thier half naked assest for views, then youre going to drive your self crazy and youre not happy wit yourself or enjoying yourself.
    i kno alot of genuine nice streamers (my cyber girls and cyber homies) out there that deserves alot of views, but its too hard because EVERYBODY IS DOING IT. i for one do it for the hell of it. i meet new ppl almost every month. 1 or 2. i do underground music, and have a great community. but we are not big timers, we wont revenue millions or thousands. but we are enjoying ourselves and having a great time. thats all it matters.
    DONT QUIT YOUR DAY JOB! work hard, get the schoolin, trade school, certs, own your own business, become the next nba player or mlb, whatever it is, but dont count/think live streaming as your main income. make it as your second job, and if it becomes good(HOPEFULLY) buy me some cookies.

    I think something that helped me grow my Twitch was having a lof or presence on other social media. It kind of ties in with networking, but I try to get to know a lot of streamers on Twitter and Discord. I feel like it helps because you get to talk about anything since it's off-stream.

    Some of these people aren't very entertaining or very good at the games they play, and many of them have 50K-500K followers. I'm not referring to "tits and ass streamers" either. I've watched several large channels where they only play single player games, rarely interact with their viewers, don't have cams, and really aren't that entertaining. Sometimes I think many are attracted to a personality.

    i like to watch smaller streams anyway, if you got 1 view i will still find you somehow, i scroll and scroll till i find one that takes my fancy. i dont like watching partnered streams because when i chat my comment is most likely to fly by and go ignored. i dont watch people that has too many alerts popping off and shoving financial goals in my face. so many are being that busker under the bridge begging for bits. i stream myself just as a way to archive my playthroughs i stream on twitch then export it over to youtube

    Y'all ever think that maybe, just maybe the problem is the viewers? Ppl CHOOSE to view certain streams regardless to whether or not the stream is good. Ppl tend to only go to streams that already have a great deal of views FIRST. They migrate towards channels that already have it made VS really good streams who don't have a lot of views & fancy obs visuals. A lot of channels are SO underrated simply because they aren't being given the chance because they don't have the clout. Ppl should start going to & visiting smaller streams. Just because they don't have views doesn't mean their stream isn't good. Y'all gotta stop only being attracted to these big channels that have many views. Js sometimes it doesn't matter what you do, ppl gravitate toward channels that are already popular. 🤷🏾‍♀️

      @@caiofiocco4441 never gonna grow if you follow 4 follow or promote yourself in yt comments what you can do is an hour b4 you stream go into someone who has similar views to you (if you have 3 viewers probably go up to 7) and engage with them and ask them for tips to grow as a streamer. then after they finish streaming they might be able to host you probably dont ask for a host makes you seem scummy almost. I almost always do this before i stream and maybe i get 1 in 5 people that host me then i grow a little bit and if im entertaining enough they might even come back idk just a little advice i use helps alot

    YOU WANT THE REAL REASONS.... ITS NOT 2012 GGWP
    Tip *1*: This shit isn't 2012 the market is saturated give up now unless a huge channel is willing to host you from the start.
    Tip 2: Suck off one of the people who have 95% of the viewers for the game... Fail at it because they gain nothing from "giving you" viewers.
    Tip 3: Never move, go to college, leave college, basically any real life issues because if you are not streaming for 1 week any growth you had will end.
    Tip 4: Don't stream a game that viewers won't grow, you will lose a but 5-10 people out of 50 will follow you in a game change.

      Very! I've streamed for 5 years and I'm lucky if I get even a few viewers. My problem throughout my time on Twitch is that I very rarely have people talk in chat. Everyone the biggest thing to do is BE PATIENT it's very important because when you first stream is when you learn how to see and talk with your first viewers and this is also is a good start of a community and you will grow and grow more as you progress and yes some days are tough and yeah some days you want to give up because you want that revenue and views, DONT THINK ABOUT THOSE TWO THINGS AND ALSO DONT GIVE UP !! because all that takes time and you need to grow and learn how your channel is and how awesome you want it. Trust me good content will bring in new viewers and new followers and possibly new subs but just set small goals and you will get there soon. Thank you all for reading and hope I didn't confused you guys cause I have a weird way of confusing people 😂
