    Thank you Scott for focusing a series on growing your silver hair out and to Bhairavi for sharing your journey! Your curly hair is beautiful, and its transition makes it even more so. I think you will look stunning when it's fully grown out! As I've been in this process too for over one year I can appreciate the variety of silver shading on just one head of hair! Thank you both also for being so generous with your wealth of knowledge in the Cultivate Your Curls FB page, it's a wonderful resource!

    What a fun conversation! I too feel like we must not care what others think when we begin to transition to gray. Her hair is beautiful now, and it will be beautiful when it’s completely grown out. I think Gray is a great look for us curlies!

    Love this! I get compliments all the time about my silver white long curly hair. So glad I decided to stop colouring. Best decision I have ever made about my hair, after embracing CGM.

    I start going gray in my early 20's! I'm in my mid 30's now and just letting them come in. I am getting more and more. You are inspiring! And you look amazing!

      Thank you! I wish I had been more confident to start earlier. Even though I'm the only one out of my close circle doing this, I just feel there is more acceptance now and I know the movement will continue to grow.

    Lots of similarities, Bhairavi, between your journey and mine I too went through the coloring every three weeks. After doing that a while, I decided I was DONE. Yes, my perception also changed about dyed hair...and I feel like my silver is a crown, like you said, Scott, of experience, and, I hope, wisdom.

    I'm 34 and have been growing my silver out for over 2 years after I had it bleached. I think it blends nicer bc it wasn't dyed dark like i used to always have it. Thank you for sharing others who embrace it, the feedback around me isn't always positive!!

    Bhairavi, funny you mention like unwrapping a package. That’s the way I’ve always referred to it is like a gift from Mother Nature you won’t know what you’ve got until you’re completely grown out and all the dye is gone. It was very surprising how soft and how much more wave I had rather than curl. You will notice an increase in density, I think dye, no matter what, damages the follicle. I went from thin to normal which shocked me, I always thought it was just me and I had thin hair but it was the dye. Great interview. You are going to have fantastic silver. I can see it already for sure. ❤️

      You have beautiful hair and I love the color! The increase in density is something I am looking forward to. I thankful to all of you ladies that came before me and paved the way. Seeing the confidence from others that have been through this gave me strength to move forward.

    Bhairavi has always been an inspiration to me and the products she recommends usually work for me too. I am 5 years into it so fully transitioned for a while. I grew it out for about 3 inches gray and then I did bleach/highlight the rest of it. Then I just let it go from there. I just deep conditioned frequently and had no problems. Going gray was a great decision for me. Part of the decision was that I had bladder cancer and I have heard that the toxicity of hair dye can contribute to that.

    Not asking close friends is a very nice thing, not that they are not important. But I liked the point where you said that the decision has to be yours. Thank you Bhairavi, listening to you was very inspiring. I do have a question though, my silver hair grows out wiry and has a rough/coarse texture compared to the rest of the hair strands. Did you at any point feel that they need any special treatment for your strands, as in maybe a protein treatment, or extra moisture DC? I tend not to add products close to my scalp and this makes my greys go all rowdy on my head. :) Finally, thank you Scott for doing this series, it comes at tthe right time when I am growing out my grey hair.

    • @CurlyHairArtistry
      @CurlyHairArtistry  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Chitra for the kind words.
      For the texture - you can try DC as needed and hydrate as you learned in Cultivate Your Curls and see how the new growth of silver does over time and add protein if needed based on how the hydration is.

    • @bhairavikinder5665
      @bhairavikinder5665 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Chitra! I am the opposite and have never had a problem adding products near my scalp. In fact since transitioning, I make sure my crown area is coated well with conditioner. I apply my conditioner (a mix of Mill Creek Keratin which has protein with either LHDC or Giovanni TTTT both with no protein) at the beginner of my shower after my scalp cleanse. I twist my hair up and continue my shower letting the conditioner sit in my hair for several minutes. I do a very quick light rinse to get my hair wet again, but not rinse out too much of the conditioner. I will add some back in if I feel I need to. I am totally open to deep conditioning if I feel my hair needs it. At this point, my hair has not felt really dry. What I do now has been working.

    Hello sir

  • @shellahussain7416
    @shellahussain7416 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why does curly hair fall out more?

    • @CurlyHairArtistry
      @CurlyHairArtistry  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      an average of 80-120 hairs fall out per day - so if you do not wash your hair daily or wet it down and detangle with your hands = it can accumulate.
      there are seasons of time where people shed more than usual = from stress, hormones, having a baby, etc.
