The candle she is carrying around symbolizes her childhood friend who she is waiting for. She kept the candle alive to show her love for him. Sanjay Leela Bansali is one of the best directors in Bollywood. He in my opinion is the only director who truly captured Aishwarya Rai's talents and beauty. Aishwarya does really good in these type of period movies.
@@TheCamerad btw the story is based on bengali (from Calcutta) novel by Sarat Chandra Chottopadya (incredible writer, contemporary to Tagore who won the Nobel prize of literature in 1913). The original story is where the guy goes to Calcutta (capital of bengal) from a village in West Bengal, rather than London.
Shreya sang this song when she was 16 years old Her first song was for this movie bairi piya She's soo extraordinary proud of our Indian music industry
I feel like we as Indian people are used to this type of cinema because we are from this culture that when foreigners react to these video we are reminded of how intricate and diverse everything is. Because we just simply exist and live together in our vast cultures. Thank you for this video.🙏🏽
This is a brilliant reaction. You noticed all the things that get me excited about creative film making. The film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is one of a kind in Bollywood and is known for his stunning film making style. Check out more from his films.
I loved your reaction! I love how you paid attention to every little detail. How you described the camera angles being kinda like an observer watching the scene. Sanjay Leela Bhansali always directs the most aesthetically pleasing films
THANK YOU FOR THIS ❤🤗 This song was actually the first time I ever saw her, and she’s been my absolute favourite ever since. Please do ‘Bairi Piya’' from Devdas next - it’s a more cute and playful song and video, featuring both Shahrukh and Aishwarya!
It’s exciting to see your reactions. 😊 The best part is that what you call as costumes- is still worn by hundreds of thousands of women even in present world- it’s saree but tied in Bengali style. And as perhaps you would be aware, in Bollywood movies- songs and dances are part of narration of the storyline- like in this song- the heroine is pining for her hero, and she maintains the candle of love/flame as a symbol and her friends are teasing while she has faith in her love and celebrates it with her friends in the presence of Goddess!!
1. They aren't costumes they are traditional Indian saris. Song is based on one of the story lines film which is amazing! So basically 🙂 Her childhood friend (devdas) was sent to England to study for 10 years when he was younger and, since he left she'd kept this lantern burning (they belived the person would come back quicker) so she's been told he's coming back and she's so excited that he's returning she's sung this song about him returning and how's she's kept this latern burning and never let the flame go out and how much she's cares about him 🙂 P. S watch the full movie you'd love it!
Your channel is the most underrated reaction channel I have ever seen. 😂 I am surprised that why don't you have more subs. Because you are relating with Indian songs more than any reaction channel I have came across. You almost point out everything that excites and amazes any Indian person when they watch Indian film. Either it is symbolism, lyrics, cinematography or acting. Many foreigners can't relate with Indian style of filmmaking, especially melodrama because they're used to watching more realistic films and less musicals. But for us, Movies always have to be entertaining and it should must pull the stings of our heart in terms of any kind of emotions. I am happy that world's perspective is changing towards Indian cinema with movie like RRR and they're allowing themselves to experience different style of filmmaking which focuses on symbolism, melodrama and entertainment value. Loved your reaction. Lots of love from India. Take care.
Just came across your reactions today purely by chance! 😄😄 It’s really great watching you, noticing and reacting to various intricacies of an artwork! The one other aspect I wish you would focus on, is to get the same videos with the subtitles because the beauty of the whole song lies also largely on the beautiful and meaningful lyrics! The joy, pain, anguish, anger or any other emotion of the song is much more effective when the actor, music, choreography, costume, sets and especially the Lyrics come together to make a masterpiece! 👍👌👌
The red ink on her hand is called alta. Its a form of henna I guess but bengalis (especially bengali brides) usually apply alta instead of the brown mehendi paste.
Beautiful Reaction sir❤️ Always love your info in the videos. She is Miss World 1994 and is regarded the most beautiful women in the world, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan 💖💖💖💖😇🥰 I love your info. Sir in your videos ☺️
One of the best reactions - you noticed all the in depth things not only the actual dance. If you liked this you should watch this movie on the big screen and then react to it - the colours the acting the amazing set.
wow! Just half an hour after youve uploaded it! Thanx man! You just got introduced to one of the best looks on film of the most beautiful woman in the world ;) It was a bit strange to see the video turned horisontally the other way ;)
The red dye is not henna. It is called ‘alta’ it is used while kathak dancing as well. And i think you will love ram leela, bajirao mastani , hum dil chuke sanam and padmavati. These are also indian classical love stories.
Indian-Canadian guy here, a fan of British/US film/tv...loved Mary Poppins and the like. Devdas is a great movie, with amazing songs. Good reaction video, but I'd suggest watching it with the English subs on, it's a beautiful song and the lyrics are excellent and fills in the details you might've missed, cheers.
Fun fact about the movie devdas. The set we are seeing in this song is Paros home. And the paint on the Glas started to faint very quickly so they had to repaint every window and Glas door after a few hours because Sanjay leela bansali wanted the colour as bright as possible. And for this movie they used to much light and electricity that in whole Mumbai the power Generatores were sold out and were used at the set of devdas
The lamp is a symbol for shahrukhkhan, she always looks for shahrukhkhan in lamp when he is away, she make sure that lamp never goes off, until their death, when you loom at the last scene of the movie, the lamp lits off and shahrukhkhan and aishwarya dies... this is an indian romeo and juliet story... a story between three lovers aishwarya, shahrukhkhan and madhuri dixit
I see you love Aishwarya Rai as much as I do... Definitely try watching her performance in the song - 'Crazy Kia Re' from the film Dhoom 2. Such a stark contrast to Silsila, I'm sure you will enjoy that too. My family and I love your reactions to Bollywood and we appreciate it all the more because of your perspective.❤️❤️❤️ From India
What an amazing intrinsic understanding and observation you displayed in this reaction video.. this is the best reaction video for me. I loved your words more than the song from my country.
Aishwariya Rai, is inexhaustibly beautiful, in addition, pure class, grace, and the true essence of a woman, heart, intelligence, and spirit. Your interpretive reaction of this video was profound and you yourself is intelligent for being so in tune and observant of all that went in to making this piece behind the scenes to stand out. This is one of my favorite Bollywood films. Thank you 🙏. ~ from an Indian. 🦚🕉
Thanks 💓nxt one ghoomar pls....padmavat has really gud songs..also bajirao mastani..thre is one full version of 4:30 minutes probably of ghoomar..watch tht one..dhivara is another one from bahubali ..and khalibali also from padmavat
Walaycomaslam, Its deffinatly not modern but is true to its route of Indian culture, Edit: your review is extraordinary, very detailed and a true devotion of what a review should entail and you encapsulated that beautifully, iv subscribed!
Great observations... so much depth of sentimental is captured in this... it is a period piece set in the early 1900's in bengal(state in eastern india).. If you watch the movie.. the Bungalows of the time had windows like that... the drape of the saree is bengali... so is the idol of Godess Kali... and the red powder is a symbol of being a married lady (which she is in her heart of hearts).
All the girls have worn their saris in the traditional Bengali drape. She is not that tall - she is 5’5. She looked talk because of her slim frame and also the angles. Also the red paint on her hands and feet is called altha which is a very traditional paste worn by girls and women in Bengal - especially for weddings. She is extremely beautiful. Aishwarya has done many Bengali character films and even some Bengali language films but she herself is a Tulu (South Indian lady).
Just found your channel and see you appreciate older bollywood songs so hear are some recommendations. The movie Amar Prem has the wonderful Rajesh Khanna who you must see. I love the songs yeh kya hua and kuch toh log kahenge from it. I also recommend yeh jhooti baat hai. It comes from an Amitabh movie but the reason I mention it is because of the singers. The incredible sisters Lata mangeshkar and Asha bhosle sing it together. (If you watch it read the lyrics)
Some people are jealous of Aishwarya and call her a bad actress when all the directors love her and call her a director’s actress. The hair in Devdas was extensions as her hair has never actually been that long but they had to make it long to fit the 1800s Bengali girl character.
Loving your reactions. I'm from England too, could you please react to "Kahe Ched Ched Mohe"? It's from the same movie (Devdas) and I'm certain you'd love it !

And thank you for watching! :)
Well her name is Aiswariya rai and she was Miss World 1994,I think may be you have seen her in Pink Panther if you hv watched

Do you know this was sung by a newcomer at the age of 17 in that time. Now she is the number one female singer in India

Shreya Ghoshal❤❤❤

The next songs in the order of the movie are:
- Bairi Piya
- Morey Piya
- Hamesha Tumko Chaha
- Kaahe Chhed Mohe
- Chalak Chalak

Thank you, very helpful!
I think you could explore some other movies by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, hum dil de chuke sanam is a good one or bajirao bhansali
Kaahe Ched Mohe comes before Hamesha Tumko Chaha.
Where is maar daala and dola re dola
he has already reacted the two songs 😊
