It was the war with the turks. They massacred millions of Greeks, Armenians, Assyrians and other non-muslims in the Ottoman empire. The grandmother slept with a knife under the pillow to protect herself from the turks.
I'm Mexican American and my two best friends are from India, and we laugh so hard every time we watch this movie because it reminds us of our families and our culture. It's a classic in our books
I'm El Salvadorian- American, and I feel the exact same way. Every time I watch it, it just reminds me of me and my husband. He's white and comes from a smaller family as well. But he does have a bunch of cousins tho, his mom comes from a family of 6.
My Hispanic step-daughter was nearly rolling on the floor🤣, recognizing so many 'types', especially the aunts Voula, and Freida. And the "meet the family scene', except for being outside (and my mom not there), was like my welcome to my soon-to-be relations.
I am greek and this is how we really are! But, i am suprised to see in the comments that alot of people from all over the world relate to this movie ! I guess we greeks are not the only ones that our family and culture is like this
Greek Americans are like that, not Greeks born, educated and living in Greece. These people look like freaks to us, like from another planet. I was almost angry when I first watched it: it took me a very long time to accept it (actually when I met a Canadian Greek "ghetto" in Montreal). Greek women (in Greece) are very educated, they make strong careers, they do not get married easily. And Greek men LOVE the independence and the spirit of their women. Strong Greek women are ADMIRED by Greek men.
I am Armenian and all this is very relatable. Reminds me of the wonderful times when my grandparents were alive and of the family get together a and how happy and protected we children used to feel being surrounded growing up in a big family. It all has sadly changed. I have been showing this film to my son, who is about to travel to Armenia in a month and who is unfortunately growing up without his father (he passed away).
I am scotch Irish. Most of my family has passed. This movie made me realize just how much I miss them and just how unique each one of them were. I’d give anything to have them back again, so treasure your family, and all their oddities.
My neighbours are Greeks and I used to go over to their house after school all the time and she used to make us Greek food all the time and it was great.
My favourite relationship in the film is Toula and her brother Nick. Louis Mandylor really displayed the love and protectiveness of a brother towards his sister and I really loved how he was always so supportive of her and Ian and encouraged her whenever she had doubts. You can also see what a great uncle he is to Athena's boys and how he loves his father and wants his approval for his painting aspirations, but at no point does he show any bitterness towards him for being oblivious/indifferent, or envy that Toula is breaking with tradition and getting support from the family when he isn't.
I got a little teary eyed at those scenes, especially the scene where Nikko says he's going to start some night classes on painting. As someone that's had a difficult relationship with their brothers growing up, it makes me so emotional to see those supportive scenes between the two.
He reminds me of my theio (uncle) in Greece, he acted like that towards both my dad and step dad, both of them being non-Greek 😂 him and my mum’s relationship is exactly the same
I'm Mexican-American, and of course, this film is way too relatable. I grew up feeling weird, lonely, ugly....with no hope. When the love of my life found me, my parents made our union difficult. I tired to push this beautiful man out of my life to spare him from my family, and my low self esteem for being different---but he thought I was worth it. He never gave up on me, and now we're happy. This film is a fun, touching reminder that I'm not alone. Blessed be all the wonderful men that love us weird, foreign women with strange, difficult families 💕
❤ 😊 All I know (from Greek ancestors) is nothing wired, but they are truly alive, pure hearted. Well, this is our haritage and loving each other forcefully, sometimes loudly is absolutely OK for me! 🎉😅😉 Being a loving sincere person can't be shameful! Never! 👍 Be yourself! God is with you! 🥰

Loved this movie. My "family" couldn't be more different. An alcoholic father. A depressed, heavily medicated mother. No love. No closeness or involvement. No one there for me or my siblings. My Dad was in the military so we moved often. We were too poor to visit relatives in other states. My Dad didn't even go to either of his parents funerals. He didn't go to my highschool graduation or college graduation. Said he was too busy. Neither of my parents were ever involved with us. When I go to the 12 Steps Groups for Adult Children of Alcoholics I hear that millions of people who grew up in alcoholic families had a similar experience of no one being there for them. So we watch movies like this in wonder and amazement that people have this kind of experience.
Family is like quicksand. The more you move the you sink in. And if you not move. You still sink. Quote From arrested development. I avoid any of these relationships and run.
OMG my heart aches for you my family used to be so close when our parents were alive. All I would love to do is give you a great big hug and send it to the child you were I am soooo sorry you experienced that. Our parents loved us so much even though they were very strict. xxxx
@@megzeecreates9093 So sweet and kind of you to give a hug to the child I once was. I'm glad you felt love in your family. In my life, I became a teacher of children and now in my elder years I do a family daycare in my home. I'm surrounded with children, young moms, nursing babies, adopted dogs and cats. I live on 20 acres with 10 people who each have their own little home and we've created a multi-generational "village" of sorts. Both my parents are alive, in their 90's, divorced. My Dad remarried and became a good husband to his second wife. Both of my parent's grew up in poverty, deprivation and severe abuse. Especially my father. It's a miracle that they are both in relatively good health and financially secure. But no closeness, no togetherness. My Mom never visited me in over 40 years though she traveled the world in her retirement. I chalk it up to her early deprivation, trauma of being married to my father, and her innate personality wasn't into being a mother or wife. She was a career woman. No capacity for personal intimacy or nurturing. It is so interesting the way life unfolds.
@@TheAmateurEditor oh god, I can't imagine what a culture shock that must've been for her parents! 😂 Did your parents also give them cooked lamb? What was the most outstandingly Grecian thing for them? What was their reaction? I must know! 🤣
@@doczirebeka8312 And I’m sure her family must’ve have been a culture shock for his parents and family. Her parents must’ve cooked his parents Rice and Noodles the Chinese way and His parents must’ve gotten a taste of Buddhism.
I am a retired teacher of Latin. Approximately 50% to 60% of English vocabulary words are derived from Latin and Greek. Not all vocabulary words are derived from Greek as Mr. Portokalos insists. However, that he says so is comical and somewhat endearing.
@lucilleyoung, were you up getting popcorn when the “kimono” word scene was playing? It very clearly demonstrated that all words in English are not derived from Greek. It also demonstrated that the character attributed every word to be of Greek origin.
I,'m Greek, and every time I watch this film,I feel so touched, because it's so real. This is exactly how we Greeks are...loud,full of energy and much much love for all the people,so thank you Nia Vardalos❤❤❤❤❤❤
I got married at 39 actually 13 days before my 40th birthday. Did I feel like an old maid? Hell no. I was ready at that point. I went through some ups and downs in life, and I realized that you get married when you’re ready, with the right person, not because there’s a ticking clock. We’ve been happily married for 25 years.
I’m a Swiss girl, Swiss parents don’t even buy you a peanut for your Wedding, in fact they didn’t even turn up :/ so this movie made me cry, about the love these people have in their hearts…
I am noticing for the first time in the credits that one of the chanters at the church had the same last name the actress does. I wonder if it's her father since she wrote the screenplay
‘The man is the head of the family but the woman is the neck’ - a marvelous heritage of the Great Greek philosophical wisdom from ancient Greece until modern time😇 This is such a great movie. Iasas from Croatia 🇭🇷. Agapi Elada 🥰
honestly i m a head and a neck, i am a woman. the stuff in the film are just middle age, that i am sorry to see it s still going on in some countries, greece included
I love this movie....I am Greek American and it reminds me of my family. My mother would cook and invite the whole neighborhood over to eat. " we believe in family values, and are hard working people." We also have a good sense of humor. In Greece it's always party time...completely different from the way Americans live and work. We work a little and enjoy our lives ♥️🇬🇷
One of the reasons I love this movie so much is that it points out how self-involved modern weddings are. The wedding is for the families. The honeymoon is for the couple. Instead of just remembering a dress from her wedding day, she's going to remember all the care and kindness and love that was lavished upon her. And that is truly beautiful.
I watch this movie 15.times. It's crazy like mental illness 😂 1. For the wonderful Greek culture. 2. For the hilarious dialogues. 3. For the tight & caring kinship. 4. For Dad's love to Toula, that's almost obsessive. 5. For Mom's wisdom & trickery. 6. For Auntie who owns travel agency, claiming she is the best cook, wanting to cook lamb for Ian who's vegetarian. 7. For Toula & Ian first conversation inside the travel office. 8. For Toula & Ian first date. 9. For Toula & Ian second date and first kiss. 10. For their 3rd kiss when Toula was wearing red dress, and Ian was begging for more. 11. For Toula & Ian afterglow, and Ian proposed to Toula..12. For Nicky, the primadona cousin who's sexy, bold, brash & funny. 13. For all the kitchen scenes..14. For Ian baptism inside Greek Orthodox Church. 15. For the wedding extravaganza. I really love this movie. It makes me ponder about my life, I am.not even Greek.
Being far away from my family and homeland, Iran, for many years, anytime I watch this wonderful movie, it brings tears to my eyes. Greek and Persian cultures are incredibly similar and close, where we have deep roots in traditions. I miss you with all my heart, my family and Iran.... Long live FAMILIES' , the only safe havens on the earth♥
Omg me too! I’m also an Iranian living away from my homeland (I live in Canada with my family now) and saw this movie for the first time today. I laughed so much! It’s such a great movie and I completely relate to Toula. I was also a weird, dorky girl as a teen and didn’t find my first boyfriend until I was 32. I also have a similar, big family like Toula and this movie really resonated with me because of that. I loved it so much! ❤😊
Me too. I am not a great film watcher, so it had eluded me. I thought it was Brill. I laughed out loud when she got pulled over by her headset because she was flummoxed at their meeting. So nice to see a genuine, warm happy Funny film, after all the rubbish they seem to be making now. No Superheroes, no blood and gore, just a film about a bunch of likeable people and a loving if dotty family. Siting here with a big goofy grin on my chops. I knew there was going to be a "Catch" with the house! Haha. But it was a sweet "catch"
I love this movie and at the end. When they give them the gift. Their wedding gift they bought them a house. I cry every time I know a lot of beautiful Greek people. The family is wonderful, loving, caring and giving.
Guys Toula was depressed in the beginning bc of her family. Demeaning her bc she was 30 and not married, not respecting her needs to do what she wanted with her life ( many families are like these and they Don t have a " smart " mother scheming plots to make the father turn around...demeaning her calling her old. Father disinterested in his children's interests ( Niko showing him the drawings) . It s all toxic and can lead to no good. They v only made it look funny but it s tragic how they r oblivious of their children s needs. And we all relate bc we most have been raised in such a toxic way. My father would beat me and control me but ....he wanted very much to help me if he ever thought I had a problem . But I could never tell him my problems bc he never had a relationship with me, only yelled and I never trusted either of my parents with my problems. My brother would defend me with an ex boyfriend but when parents gave him 3 times more inheritance than me, he very conveniently took it with no remorse believing he s entitled. That kind of upbringing creates selfish beings with no empathy. Love is to care for what ur child needs, spend time listening to your child, try to make them happy, care for what they want , not project your insecurities on them
✍Hello...I saw this movie years ago at the theater and love it so much we bought it to watch any time I want. Now watching it all these years later it brings back the memories of my life. I'm an only child and my husband from a family of 5. I met his family which are Italian at Easter 🐇 and it was almost like this movie except there were kids everywhere and card tables set up in the backyard everyone playing cards and others gathered around talking and having fun. Just like Ian said my life was boring and I came alive when we married. I'm a widow now. We were married 42 years it would be 61 this year and now its just me my oldest daughter and her sister my youngest and her husband. Everyone else has since passed away but I have my memories of all those good times. Thanks for sharing this movie. Bye from Ohio🌹
My favorite movie. The part that makes me cry, when her dad bought them a house. My dad passed 3 rears ago, and, He bough me a house and said, its yours.. even if im not here youll have a place to live forever . the best dad. miss him
It was one of the highest grossing movies worldwide in the year it was released and was nominated for an Oscar, AND has two sequels under its belt. I wouldn't call it underrated lol
Was talking to a client with a clearly Greek surname and asked if he was he acknowledged what I already knew then we had the biggest laugh about this movie lol
I’m Mexican and my wife is Filipina. We relate so much of our similar but also big difference in our cultures. We love how different we are because we experience new adventures together
When aunt Vula talks about the lump in her neck, to Ian's mortified parents, I fall apart with laughter. It's so over the top and yet I know people like this.
Hi. We all need attention. Some dont have more important stuff to talk about other than some lumps. But many do have interesting stories. We need to appreciate each other more. ❤❤
It's funny because this is the part that my friend in Perú and I joke about. She was here for one year on a Fulbright, and I showed her the film at my house. We watched it more than once in the time she was here, and we still quote lines from the film back and forth to each other, through text and when we meet up. This was our favorite 😅. From number three it was "hold my neck" when taking a photo.😅

Michael Constantine looked very aged and weak in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2." It was not long after that film that he passed on. He was such a fine actor. Requiescat in pacis, Michael. (Rest in peace, Michael.)
Michael Constantine was 94 when he died. That is very old in human terms so they do have times when things get tough for them. My mum is 95 and she is a whole lot better than a lot her age. Respect and RIP Michael
My mom is a young 74 year old and she gets mistaken for a 54 year old. She does everything a young person does. Mows the lawn, shovels snow, helps raise grandkids, is a chef❤
This is one of my favorite movies! Whenever I feel homesick I turn it on. There were so many friends back in school that were Greek and exactly like this! Loved them so much! 😂💞💞
I need to be adopted into a Greek family. 😅 They're fun, loyal, sweet and Toula's father, he is so generous - sacrifices everything for his family. That's love.
I'm Ashkenazic Jewish from New York and moved to Israel in the 1970s. I met an Israeli girl from a Moroccan Jewish family. Oh Pah! Thank you a million for uploading this tremendous movie! I can never get enough of it, the characters are perfect, the script and the way it's played out is the best ever for culture and ethnic bonding beyond the norm and love that comes from that open heartedness....
As an American of mixed Nordic-European ancestry , I can say this is 100% accurate. We're all just sitting around, lonely in the world, with our 2 cousins a few states away, waiting for someone from a more interesting culture to come along and adopt us as wife or husband.
I wanted this because i grew up with a nice extended family. But everyone has gone their seperate ways or passed away, and i was an only child. Now my youngest son is getting divorced. My heart is so sad.
This happened to me, too. I grew up in an close knot Armenian family. Sadly, when my grandparents passed away, and everyone went their own way. I am now in a foreign country, alone with my son, and my husband passed away 3 years ago. We are planning to relocate to Armenia though.
My late aunt Irene worked for a Greek family from Athens but based in JHB south Africa, Bedfordview to be exact. They were so kind to her and they are very rooted into their culture. I loved yaya's cooking. My aunt loved this film so much because she got to explain a lot of things to us about her employers through this film. It was like a tutorial. I hope they are well the Chrystelis wherever they are❤.
12:04 This part of the movie was so hurtful, When Toula felt like she was all at rock bottom and at no point; I know that feeling; I was at that point before I got married! I was single, at home, I had problems at work, feeling like a total “LOSER!” But then two weeks later, I met my future bride ! We fell in love , A year later, we married, got two daughters, and we’ve been married for almost 26 years, happily 😊!!
One of the best families. Her brother is my fav. He's protective, funny and has a great relationship with tula. Her dad is such a sweetie and I want her mom haha
The 'Tusu, Tusu!" spiting on the head to keep the devil away hit me right in the feels & I'm not even Greek! I remember my grandmother & aunties doing this to me as a child. The multiple nicks also rang true. We are really all the same!
One of the reasons why I like this movie, is because the overall message is so profound... when you follow your heart & go after the things that bring you joy & inspire you, the universe will align you with the right people & experiences along the way who allow you to grow. You also gain more confidence & learn to speak up for yourSelf, regardless of any cultural or social expectations.
When my Nana died my family watched this film the day of the funeral. It was a tough time for everyone, especially for her two adult children. We ordered pizza and watched the film that evening. It was a nice comedy/romance film and got our minds off the grief for a while.
Love this movie, its all about the right stuff of life, family , love, togetherness, involvement and sensitivity to others. Beautifully scripted and wonderfully acted by all involved. Classic for all times.
Seriously, who wouldn't love TULA? I love her free spirit, pure soul, strong will, hard work, and OFF-THE-CHARTS sense of humor! Someone like Tula is often regarded as a Black Sheep in traditional families. But more often, such an individual is the key to bringing a brighter future to the family!
The actors playing Ian's parents were a quiet, brilliant foil. When the dad whispers "gasp! Oh my god" at the wedding spitting scene, his horrified whisper is hilarious 😂 Nia Vardalos and her real life husband Ian Gomez have such Norm Macdonaldesque, Mike Tyson Mysteries sort of humor, but bit with a touch of really heartwarming honey.
You are a god send. I have a film analysis due on this tomorrow and for the life of me my situation right now I couldn’t get a freaking hold of the movie. Thank you so very much. ❤
They prefer their sons over their daughter their women are breeding machines and women have to marry young and men can marry at any age Is that what you like?!
This movie is pretty educational too because it teaches about marriage of different backgrounds and I understand what Toula is dealing with. It’s not easy coming from a traditional family.
I love this film to death because it brings me so laughter, joy and tears. I have watched this film more times than I can begin to remember, Toula reminds me so much of my deceased kid sister and also brings back memories of my happy life in Chicago! Aside from all that I mentioned, I simply adore Greeks, Greek Americans, Greek culture and Greece!
Xeno, means either stranger, or foreigner, which implies that Ian is non-Greek (and Toula’s family now have become aware of the situation). Pretty much like how laowai (or laomei), means foreigner, westerner, Yankee, or American, in Chinese, or how gaijin means foreigner in Japanese. Their reaction to seeing someone with a partner (or spouse) who is a foreigner may likely go from shocking, to feeling embarrassed, or ashamed, especially in public, because it is unheard of in these cultures. Some might disown their children outright for simply having done so, due to cultural (or traditional) beliefs. You would have to be fortunate enough to not let this happen.
This was a great movie for several reasons. #1. No violence, 2. No sex, 3. No LGBT shoved down our throats. 4. No swearing/cursing, 5. No politics/Liberal Leanings. Thank you very much ! GOD Bless you and all you're viewers....
Exactly. Pause this movie was made post 911, so the audience really needed something warm and familiar to get away from that tragedy. The second one leaned into a lot of the stuff that you mentioned before, and it didn't make it as good.

Beebobsey 🤣 Those bridesmaids dresses were horrible! 😂 Those parents might have been pushy but buying them a house is a great way to end a marriage that just started but man what a great gift if looked at it from a different perspective. Ian could have been all masculine & insulted that this was his job for his new wife but it's a house!! They could live comfortably with no mortgage! What a blessing! How awesome to have so many family members stick by each other. Nothing like mine. I know people out there might say having that big family like that is such a pain. I'm sure it is at times but for the times that it's good, it's really gotta be great!
My #1 favorite part of the movie (which gets me every time) is when Toula is hopeless and says "but nothing ever changes." Then boom Ian enters in that instant...and her life changes into a dream-come-true happy one.

This is a wonderful movie. I love the Greek Culture.
Yes! I'm Italian and very much relate.... My dad is Italian and my mom Irish English.....I really relate...the Hot and Cold
I am scotch Irish. Most of my family has passed. This movie made me realize just how much I miss them and just how unique each one of them were. I’d give anything to have them back again, so treasure your family, and all their oddities.
My neighbours are Greeks and I used to go over to their house after school all the time and she used to make us Greek food all the time and it was great.
so sweet comment
My favourite relationship in the film is Toula and her brother Nick. Louis Mandylor really displayed the love and protectiveness of a brother towards his sister and I really loved how he was always so supportive of her and Ian and encouraged her whenever she had doubts.
You can also see what a great uncle he is to Athena's boys and how he loves his father and wants his approval for his painting aspirations, but at no point does he show any bitterness towards him for being oblivious/indifferent, or envy that Toula is breaking with tradition and getting support from the family when he isn't.
But goddamn does he mess with her fiance 😂
I got a little teary eyed at those scenes, especially the scene where Nikko says he's going to start some night classes on painting. As someone that's had a difficult relationship with their brothers growing up, it makes me so emotional to see those supportive scenes between the two.
He is such a good brother in the new one too! Love Niko ❤️
There was also the nice blend of pootinannyness when he took the picture of all the ladies without makeup.
Being a loving sincere person can't be shameful! Never!
👍 Be yourself! God is with you! 🥰

Toxic families that harm their children presented in a funny way
Its a feeling and history background many all over the world can identity. Reality is rough.
❤️🩹 to you
Family is like quicksand.
Our parents loved us so much even though they were very strict. xxxx
Bless your heart. I’m so sorry that this way of life is foreign to you. But you sound like you will break the pattern! Many prayers and good luck!!
My husband is Greek. (I'm Korean) I completely understand this now, especially after our wedding.
I'm Greek and my wife is Chinese (her parents are from Hong Kong). This was mandatory watching before we got married 😀
Did anyone from the Greek side of the family ever school you on everything Greek...including anything from your culture? 😉😆

True not all but 150000 English words are derived from Greek, while 51000 Latin derived words.
"Give me a word, any word..." 😂
@lucilleyoung, were you up getting popcorn when the “kimono” word scene was playing? It very clearly demonstrated that all words in English are not derived from Greek. It also demonstrated that the character attributed every word to be of Greek origin.
@@j.j.9123 It was just for the fun of it --- dear Mr Portocalus was not an educated man but he was a proud Greek.
That’s the point. Us Greeks created everything 😂😂😂😂 well so we are taught

39 is so much better than 50, but better late than never. ?
Congrats!
Thank you for this comment, Anne. It is very reassuring. Congratulations on the 25 years

Nice movie...the actors all played their parts beautifully. Nia Vardalos has wonderful eyes and a terrific smile.

How accurate is this portayal of Greek culture?
The cake has a whole in it !... Store bought cake, too, with a plastic top....
I'm Dominican and Haitian and am surprised at how similar the greek culture is to ours.esp, Dominicam republic.
And that’s why Greece (along with Italy Spain and Portugal) has a shitty economy. Because it’s too much partying and not enough work.
I'm not even Greek but this movie made me proud to be Greek
Best comment ever.
😂
Right 😂
One of the reasons I love this movie so much is that it points out how self-involved modern weddings are. The wedding is for the families. The honeymoon is for the couple. Instead of just remembering a dress from her wedding day, she's going to remember all the care and kindness and love that was lavished upon her. And that is truly beautiful.
I watch this movie 15.times. It's crazy like mental illness 😂
I thought I had commented on this, I love this movie.😂❤
I wish I was Greek.
You ponder about your life. You sound philosophical. The Greeks invented philosophy, ergo you are Greek. There you go 😂
I adore this movie and I thought I was the biggest fan!! Seen it more than 100 times but I bow to you, this comment makes you the biggest fan 🤩
This is my 8th time watching. I'm addicted
Well said. Bravo! Iranian living in Paris😊
I loved this. I’m watching it for the first time in 2024. And I love it!! Thank you 🇬🇷 ❤❤❤
The second part is very funny too!!
It's delightful. The second is great too 🎉

I love this movie and at the end. When they give them the gift. Their wedding gift they bought them a house. I cry every time I know a lot of beautiful Greek people. The family is wonderful, loving, caring and giving.
And the plot twist is: the house is just nextdoor. So dad still can keep Toula next to him and not feel as if she has "left" him.
@@Ellada-hu5tx I think it's so lovely. I'd love to marry into a family that loving and kind

As an American of mixed Nordic-European ancestry , I can say this is 100% accurate. We're all just sitting around, lonely in the world, with our 2 cousins a few states away, waiting for someone from a more interesting culture to come along and adopt us as wife or husband.

"Now we have a boyfriend in the house. Xeno with big long hair on his head." The word "xeno" means stranger.
In this case it means foreigner
I remember watching this in a movie theater for independent films when it came out. Such a wonderful story reminds my of my mothers family

@@jennifermurray6245Ah so you like post modern degeneracy being pushed by the Satanic media? Not brave or virtuous at all. You’ve decided to drink the poison that the slave masters decided to use to break our society apart. Evil and pathetic.
Such a republican comment 😂

Beebobsey 🤣
Those bridesmaids dresses were horrible! 😂
Those parents might have been pushy but buying them a house is a great way to end a marriage that just started but man what a great gift if looked at it from a different perspective.
The Bobopsy
One of the best Greek Comedy’s have ever seen … hilarious ! It wasn’t my Dad ,…rather my Mom so twisted! 😅
My #1 favorite part of the movie (which gets me every time) is when Toula is hopeless and says "but nothing ever changes." Then boom Ian enters in that instant...and her life changes into a dream-come-true happy one.
ah! i hope this happens for me
I hope it happens for me too. I hope 2024 is the year I find my Toula.
She made the changes first...
I am sending you all
Of the positive cheers and vibes this 2024 this will happen!
Opa!!!
Actually "the change" occurred when she decided to learn, as I got it..
"Tell me what to say but don't tell me what to say"..... Aunty's lines are too funny! 😂😂😂😂
the interacting between the 'family' is just heart warming!!! and totally reliable---none of the other movies in the franchise matched the first movie
I’m annoyed that I can’t seem to be able to buy a digital copy of this movie on iTunes or on Google either. So glad I found it on TH-cam.
I am German living almost for more than 30 years in Italy. I do not know greek people but the film reminds me of southern Italy, there family is very important, I think they are the same way especially in Sicily, very funny film ❤❤❤
BECAUSE,SOUTHERN ITALY,IS GREEK,SIMPLE,VIVA MAGNA GRECIA.
How can you NOT LOVE JOHN CORBETT?! So many GREAT ACTORS in this movie!!!!
He's yummy
One of my favourite films of 20 years never get bored watching it back
Any half xeno can relate to this. Wonderful movie about the Greek community in North America. So much humour and humanity
Wonderful movie. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed it 😀
The Windex is hilarious 😂😂😂
The Dominican equivalent is Vicks vapor rub 😅
still don’t understand the windex thing, perhaps it’s because become keep using one or two new random things when first come here
Love this movie. So funny! I got a little teary eyed when the Dad bought Toula & Ian a house.
Same 😭💓😭😭💓😇🥰
It was so emotional ❤
Same 😇🦄🥰♥️💝💝🥰🦄😇
me too 😊
Same I’m crying. Rn 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🥹🥹
the irony that the most startling thing in this movie is a public school teacher having a nice apt & going out to nice dinners.
great movie too!
His parents are rich so I’m sure that helped him lol
Such a wonderful and heartfelt movie with lessons to learn, religious or not when we get to understand and accept each other for what we are we can be in peace and harmony, ian and tola created history that started a new chapter...love this movie ❤❤
Greek Dad irish Mom here from Astoria love this Movie and yes Greek dads are like this😅 😎❤️🩵 🇬🇷
You have double trouble
First i was reluctant to watch this movie or not but I am impressed with Greek traditions and the values they given to their daughters. Wonderful and inspiring movie i have seen recently 🎉❤
Each culture has a tradition which might seem weird to others, but that is exactly what makes life so exciting! The taste of new experiences ❤
It took me 22 years to watch this film, and I've glad I did...!
Im Greek and i laugh everytime watching these movies. Ofcourse theres an exageration but in the same time sooooooo much truth. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Thx God we laugh and never felt offended like others do. Is funny.
Ian’s parents at the wedding. “Let’s go Harry.” 😂😂 😂
In a disabled woman and 50 and no one is ever going to marry me and my mommy told me that when I was ten. Ny whole life in pain and sadness. This is a good movie tho.
Ah, you never know. There are a lot of stories on TH-cam of disabled people in happy marriages. What makes me feel saddest is that your mother gave you no hope. Her beliefs may have been much more disabling than ur physical disability. I hope u can get some hope somehow.
@@pamelatanner788 thank you, no. My hope made a fool of me for 50 years. Mommy said no one was ever going to understand what happened to me in the 1970s or marry me and I believe my mommy because she was smart.
