Would love to see an RP'ing nomadic org. A sort of known faction out there acting as a mobile LZ for other single players or smaller squadrons. Maybe an R&R stop is far away, but you know the nomads in the area, request landing and refueling, do a little trading, pay them their dues and off you go. What a great little emergent system that would be.
Yeah that would be awesome to see - I particularly like the idea of operating as part of a floatilla - passing bits and pieces and crew back and forth between ships on the move.
It wouldn't be hard for such a situation to emerge if it offered protection as its core service. Every other kind of amenity would eventually arise naturally, whether from visiting ships or new additions to the org. Such convoys would also become targets, of course, and I expect some of the most dramatic events will revolve around fleets of this kind. Which, in turn, opens opportunities for content creators to RP as news orgs...
This kind of theory crafting about the future of the game is what excites me so much about this game. The sheer amount of ways to play is going to be mind-boggling
I'd also put forward the Liberator as an all-rounder support craft, certainly for the smaller two fleets. It's a carrier, saving on fuel. It's a forward logistics platform and range extender, both for ops away from the main fleet, and for the fleet itself while underway. It's a garage, allowing for enclosed refueling, rearming, and repair by hand. It's a warehouse, offering more storage for ships, vehicles and goods. It's an impromptu dropship for large materiel, should a land claim require it. It's a way to shuttle goods back and forth between the fleet and civilization, all while carrying along its own protection. And ultimately, it's a barge. Multiple ships damaged or destroyed, and the Crucible is busy? You don't want those wrecks on the float, or to tax the SRV's tractors by constant use. So shuffle them around by putting them on the decks of the Liberator. Fun topic, Loud! - LegitSalvage
I can't wait till exploration is a full loop in the game. Just flying around with friends taking in the sights is so much fun. I really enjoy your fleet videos!
The org I'm in, Naja Echo, is planning a Nomadic existence along the silk road. We've got a Banu-bent so we'll work the gray areas of the law doing contracts and trading from Banu country to the Sol - Terra route.
This is a really cool idea, it sounds like it would be so much fun to set out with a couple of friends and try and be independent. Hopefully when star citizen expands to multiple systems this sort of thing will be possible.
I am in a Nomadic Org, however, they fill the whole Spectrum with branches for every type of gameplay (Science, Trading, Defense, Mining). Our main priority is trading though but we are self-sufficient.
@@LoudGuns we are STARLIGHT NOMADS / SLTC. We are a german org and I am just a normal member. We have a picture on our site, but it is not up to date (I think so). And we have more than 200 members, so we can think a bit bigger.
Our ORG is hoping to spend time doing Partisan Warfare against the Vanduul in the area of the lost Colonies one day. A self sufficient set-up is right up our alley. With only about 25% of members been semi-regular players, to have about 30 people on ORG nights , one would need about 120 members. Great video. Gratz to the Expanse Winner !
I LOVE the idea of this! It also makes me hope that CIG will one day have a variation of the Pioneer that will construct player space stations, God knows it would sell like gangbusters. And with star systems that are hundreds of millions of km across there should be plenty of space for each player org to carve out a little slice of the universe for themselves.
One thing we were chatting about on discord was how you could use a fleet like this to effectively build your own space stations - if you use the docking ports to connect a variety of ships centred around the Kraken that could be your home base in space while others go off to do various stuff.
I think you overlooked the Liberator for the 5 person or even 30 person fleets. With 400scu and the ability to move prospectors or cutties and fighters as well as ground vehicles, and it is a lot cheaper than the Kraken. I've personally been a fan of a liberator with a 315p (tractor beam and exploration scanners) and a prospector (and whatever ground vehicles you can get. Any utility you can get from a ground vehicle basically gets wrapped into utility that a Liberator can bring. Maybe we will get an ambulance some day? On top of that, you can load merlins or other small ships like the pisces into the interior garage) with an expanse flying alongside. This would allow you to mine in the prospector, move the saddlebags with the 315p to the expanse, and move the mined goods into the hold of the Lib. This is really scalable, because you can just add ships to the mix as you add org mates. Maybe the Cat's modularity will bring something useful, or an apollo for medical, a perseus or redeemer to augment your liberator fighters, aquila for exploration, tali if you can swap gun turrets for utility turrrets like scanners or tractor beams plus modular interior means you can mix and match torps with what you need. Lots of versatility and scalability all wrapped around the Liberator at its core. And you can make mining, medical, exploration, combat, or a mix of them all with the liberator. I expect some repair functionality to be doable by hand, but fuel refining is still a problem. The Lib has the largest fuel tanks of any capital so far apparently, so maybe that would be enough. If not, a starfarer becomes mandatory if the Expanse cannot refine fuel.
Yeah the Liberator is one I’m very interested in seeing reach fruition. I think it could be a very powerful FOB for smaller orgs and indeed might have overlooked it in this vid.
@@LoudGuns Bought a BMM way back when they were cheap; bought a CCU for the BMM into the Lib or into the orion before they bumped the BMM price up again. I haven't decided which way I am going to go (may get a perseus CCU as well) in the end. I do not think I am going to keep the BMM as I have NO idea what to do with it without a sizeable org with it. Lib seems like a more small-group friendly ship, especially since it enables gameplay for my friends' ships, whether they backed for an Aurora or an Orion, rather than expecting them to come man turrets or fix power cables on mine. I think that is a big plus for the Lib: that it kinda works by itself and is not a selfish big ship to buy that would require a bunch of your friends giving up their autonomy to man your crazy ship
@@johnboyd9713 cheers John, but I’m in the BMM owners club too. Also got mine very early but I’m having similar thoughts - it really isn’t the ship I pledged for anymore. I’ll probably wait and see but will grab myself some off ramps to something like the Polaris as it gets closer (ideally I want an Anvil Polaris equivalent that’s more gun based rather than torp focussed).
@@LoudGuns Exactly my thoughts. It is a secondary warship in lore, but it lacks the point defense to deal with more than a handful of torps, and the firepower to slug it out with other capitals, so I really feel like it is super vulnerable to about anything. A single Banu Defender is not exactly an overwhelming force for fighter screening. Three fixes. Either: A) just give it a TON of point defense and a couple more manned turrets and get rid of the big gun (basically a freighter that escorts itself) B) Up its capital weaponry to make it at least a viable capital brawler (on par with perseus, it is so much bigger than one). It doesn't need to beat a Polaris, but at least be a threat for one. I personally like the idea of adding broadside cannons to it to make it more like an old sailing pirate/merchant ship or C) Fix the Defender I love the Defender, but seeing the BMM, think the defender could use a bit of an overhaul to fill in the BMM's weaknesses. In my dream, make it three crew, give it a medium count of s5 torps, and two remote 2xs3 turrets and get rid of the pilot guns. Replace the role the Defender has in universe with some anvil patrol craft (IE large small ship with big quantum range and interior). I feel like this makes the BMM a bit more interesting as the Defender and BMM should be seen as a complete package with the Defender taking out small to medium ships and the BMM being a defense against large or capital ships. I wrote a lot. I just have feelings about the BMM as it is. It is just a really big, really expensive cargo ship right now and doesn't REALLY seem to be multirole or even self-sufficient at all, which does not keep with the lore for a wandering trade vessel
I love the Endeavor for its massive potential, I also would have added it as a vital ship in any medium-large exploration fleet. We'll see how CIG treats this beauty and its possibilities, but I have high hopes on it to the point that it'll probably be my fleet's flag ship in the near future.
Top Video. I love this series. I've not yet joined an Org, but seeing/hearing these Fleet ideas makes me so excited about the Verse's Future. What a Game. Can't wait for your next video. Great job!
Thanks Joezen - a really big part of this series is just highlighting that Orgs can come in all shapes / sizes / focuses so you should certainly be able to find one for you.
The Odyssey can only refine its own Fuel, not for others, it also cannot refine external Material. I do hope that they will change that, because it is unefficient. You would need the Expanse to do it for now. I also hope that we will have in the Endgame, Module like Containers which we can put in Ships to deal with certain problems and I am ok if they are not as good as the bespoken Ship.
So I believe that you should be able to hand refuel the ship in your hangar (ie fill up a Jerry Can from the Odyssey’s tanks and fuel your prospector with it). Anything the prospector mines would have to just be dropped as saddle bags into the odyssey’s hold until you hit up a refinery or have the opp to sell it raw though. Yep it’ll be really interesting to see modularity come in - one ship I didn’t include because it’s unknown is the Caterpillar. But I have a sneaking suspicion that once we start to see modules for that it could be very viable for a fleet like this.
@@LoudGuns I agree, also the Carrack in that regard. Other Point about the Odyssey is that I feel having only one Size2 Mining Laser is not enough and I hope they might increase it to a Size3.. An other Way could be, that we can upgrade the Refinery to one that can handle external Material.
Awesome video. Love the fleet that you've built. It's going to be nice to see organisation gear up towards those kind of survival goals and explore the furthest systems.
It always interests me that (particularly the 5 and 30 person options) could actually be a part of a much larger org. In this case these would be your true deep space explorers potentially out for weeks or months at a time.
I can imagine most pirates would prefer to stay mobile, with a core fleet of interdiction and fighting ships, a secondary cluster of cargo and salvage and other utilities, and an assortment of scouts probing nearby space for prospects.
Naw Loud - the kind of game play I would really enjoy being involved in. I am not a hunter killer. I - all by my self have been building a small fleet like this to go out and survive and grow. From the pioneer down I've been aiming for self sufficiency. There is enough rape - pillage and plunder in the world already. I come here to escape that and be a passive non-aggressive. But understand that all here aren't that way. A lot who find general murder and mass killing to be great fun just because they can. So therefore we of like minds HAVE to group up. Hopefully loose knit group just having fun - yet capable of surviving
I remain hopeful that through game systems and a large enough verse that we can get a game for everyone. A big part of it though is how you view your interactions with other players - if you’re in one of these fleets and a bunch of PvP’ers come across you and blow you up you can always throw your toys out of the pram and scream “griefers” at them, but you could also view it as a learning experience. Maybe the challenge for your org is how long you can survive or how far you can travel? So that one was a failure at x distance but how can you dust yourselves off and try again but better?!
@@LoudGuns Thank you for your reply and thoughts. I am not 10 years old. Thought maybe you guys would be the ones to work out survival approaches with from sick people like these till we find out how this game matures. But majority of our time would be doing what we enjoy is all. Anyway thanks for taking time to answer.
i think ice mining its somthing that its a must have in the future, love the idea for a nomadic fleet, and find a ruins of a temporary outpost that a previus fleet left and use it as yore temporary outpost would be awesome
Yeah I figure ice mining is a no brainer in a game that has a water mechanic. Also a logical way to get hydrogen fuel and oxygen like you do in Space Engineers. Just don’t think too much about what might have happened to the last crew of that derelict outpost 😂
Top tier pun, and I love these type of videos, thought and planning of the future fleet. I’ve been kicking around the idea of getting the kraken for this exact reason.
Can’t resist a good pun! Yeah the cap ships I’ll probably end up owning personally are the Orion and Polaris - just because I think I’ll get serious value for money out of them and won’t struggle to crew them up on the regular. But the one I think any serious org should own is a Kraken.
Damn the Kraken looks super interesting, I don't know if I'll ever have enough friends to need one but I love that Aircraft Carrier look Plus, giveaway =D
I was going to ask about Jump Point plotting and realized that it is possible for the Endeavour to have the Telescope module to serve that function. The Endeavour's Landing module is suppose to be attachable under any existing module hence can function as an additional hanger for smaller support crafts in complement to the Kraken.
I think having crowd sourced ideas from the comments that it’d make sense to switch one of the odysseys in the 100 person fleet for a Carrack? That’d give you an improvement in scouting capabilities. I do reckon the endeavour’s so versatile you could almost make a whole fleet of them as the core with military support round the edges!
Love these getting ORGanised videos, in this case the small crew interests me most due to being convenient to organise. I guess the question is how long you're out for. An Odyssey or Carrack has 6 crew, and one pallet/SCU of bottled water has ~1728 bottles. That would be enough for 72 days drinking water at 4 bottles per day each. Should be able to carry a lot of food and water in 10scu. I'd therefore rather something more versatile than the Prospector as a snub, maybe two arrows and a pisces.
That would definitely increase your protection - another comment mentioned the vulture (although I’m not sure it’ll fit) because that could help you cover off repairs. I’m a big fan of the Carrack for general exploration given it’s better scanning suite, but the Odyssey’s refuelling and hangar gives it so much more versatility for this sort of thing.
I'm curious to see how farming is going to be implemented, exploring planets to find interesting and new plants to grow or just taking the standard space wheat and making do.
Yeah it’ll be interesting if they combine exploration to find the seeds, with some form of agricultural specialisation - so a crop could be really expensive because it only grows the other side of the verse, but you park your endeavor closer to market.
I can imagine that loose associations of small orgs will convoy for mutual aid and complementary capabilities, as well as allowing small action groups to break to pursue opportunities while slower and more vulnerable craft stay with the safety of the group. It's easy to imagine such a fleet cycling between resource-rich-but-dangerous deep space regions and the relative safety and commerce of lightly settled frontier, or groups of vulnerable cargo ships escorted by shared protection back to core worlds for maximum returns, while the working fleet remains busy near a rendezvous point in the deep black. The important points being that 1) all small fleets will have strengths and weaknesses, so there will always be incentive to cooperate and 2) even small fleets will need to split up to pursue multiple goals sometimes, and allies will again make better options possible.
I feel like a Retaliator would be a great edition to the 100 person org, as 1 retaliator can take out 3 Idris with it's 6 onboard S9 missiles, and a few Gladius (on the Kraken) or a few Vanguard would be able to repel light fighters, and force them, A) outside of firing range of your core ships, or B) force the light fighters to stay on trajectories that are more easily hit by the cannons of the larger ships. Hammerhead's are cool, but they're sitting duck's for a fleet of fighters, and the Polaris is at risk of attack by other capital ships if it gets too close. The stealth Retaliator is the weapon of choice for easily taking capital ships and extra large heavy ships in general.
I really like videos like this! Set a problem statement (nomadic fleet), how can we solve it for a small/medium/large org with the available ships. How would it be for a explorer fleet? Or a trade fleet? Mining fleet? How can we cover threats of different sizes?
I'd also look at the liberator instead of the kraken for the 30 person size and below. Stupidly low crew needs, can carry 400 scu and act as a light carrier and use Cutlasses instead of arrows due to range, cargo bay and tractor beams.
I watched your getting organized seriers and i think you should really take a look at the Liberator with SRV combo. When you use a Orion-Hull Combi you need a ship with tractor beams to transfer the cargo --> SRV. Liberator needs just 1-2 Person that can switch to the loaded SRV, basically one person can do the job and the transfer is much easier. There is also place for 2 small ships like Aurora LN for exploration and mining orgs and ground vehicles.
I think the Carrack might make a good addition to the large fleet as a smaller pathfinder/scout ship for scanning purposes, maybe replacing one of the combat ships. But overall this fleet seems extremely well-rounded and well thought out. I'd love to be part of an org like this, shuttling crew between the various capital ships.
Actually where I’ve gone 2 odyssey’s I think you’re right. I do really like the odyssey’s hangar for these fleets because of the additional versatility but when you’ve already got one sacrificing the second for a stronger scanning array makes total sense.
Yeah I’m in the camp that hopes for something approaching Eve 2. But I do really hope that the game systems provide a better space for smaller orgs to coexist with larger ones as opposed to it just becoming a case of “merge or die”.
@@LoudGuns I couldn't agree more. I played EvE for several years. I left when the "Hulkageddon" bs started. I enjoyed mining immensely, but I couldn't mine and protect with only a few corp- mates on. So. reluctantly I stopped playing. I still only try SC now and again. But I faithfully watch the updates on YT. Thanks for your efforts.
The Odyssey seems reluctant for the 30 person org. You do with a cutty red instead, assuming kraken doesn't have med bed. And for the 5 person org hand salvage and hull repair could be used.
With the first group, Far better to have a Hull A sat in the hangar considering it is smaller than a Prospector and you can use it to sell your minables and resupply and doesn't double up on the mining ability of the Odyssey
Eagerly awaiting the Merchantman & Pyro to start exploring. I’m now looking for a way to stay there for a longer time fuelwise… (with a four man crew) Wish I could bring fuel pods on these trips.
This is right up my street! I plan to live a fairly nomadic lifestyle on my liberator carrying an SRV and vulture to run as a recovery service on the fringes. Hoping for medical and maybe workshop vehicles to fill the holes in my abilities.
I must admit it will be interesting to see what they do with water in this game. I definitely think it’s going to be an interesting commodity outside of civilisation. Even requirements on certain desert planet to grow crops.
Yeah you can see it as a necessary resource for more than just drinking - agriculture for sure but potentially cooling systems etc. Asteroid based ice and some form of refinement also solves the issue of hydrogen fuel and oxygen.
With the larger sized fleets I'm curious if ARGO Cargo and Personnel carrier ships would have value. You'll need to move people and things around in the fleet regularly and I think they could quickly become a very convenient way to achieve that.
I think it's possible that something great may be born out of this. Normally I'd avoid an org with more members than I could possibly get to know because that defeats the point of joining an org for me. However, I think I would for a nomadic survival fleet. Joining a fleet would mean that you depend on the fleet for survival, and the fleet depends on you for theirs. Making you a part of a REAL crew. Real because it wouldn't matter if you knew anyone on the Merchantman that holds all your supplies. If it came under attack, you'd have a real emotional connection with the rest of the crew simply because it effects all of you.
I love the idea of a survival fleet, but I can't picture myself actually being involved in one right now. I've got a fairly small game group and we are picturing ourselves managing a single multi crew ship close to civilized space.
For the 5 people one i would add something small like a pisces or an argo cargo/personel for if you have to go planetside (to for example grab some medical suplies from an outpost) without having to bring the big ship down, this would save alot of fuel for the oddesey
This has pretty much been my plan since I got the Odyssey, but with a bit more of a focus on profiting from mining rather than becoming totally self sufficient.
Yeah I think it’s a two stage question - 1. How do we survive? 2. how do we thrive? It’s one thing to survive but then you’ve got to work out what you do while you’re out in the black.
the odysse got 6 bed if I recall accuratly... and you could fit 2 aurora and a reliant in it... those 3 have beds and can transport cargo... so that could make up for a 10 players orgs
the carrack on the other hand got room for 6 bed aswell and you can hardly fit more than one aurora in it so no matter what ship you take in you cannot go beyond 7 players (logout bed)
halo was my first big introduction to sci fi and ever since i started playing, and learning about it ive been obsessed with the pelican and being a dropship pilot. when i first started playing sc ive been looking for something to quench my pelican flying thirst. ive been trying everything from the pisces to the vanguard (those 2 actually being my favorite ships ingame). but with how few seats the pisces have and the clunky doors of the vanguard its safe to say that ive felt pretty dissapointed, but once i saw the legionnaire i almost jumped out of my seat my brother can vouch for me since ive been pestering him about how cool i think the ship is. i dont really have the money for buying ships and im not a part of any org so i cant really band together with anyone and splurge, i know that it kinda sounds like im begging (because i definetivly am), but i would be ever so greatful if youd help me on the path of becoming a PP (Pelican Pilot). oh yeah also love your vids keep it up man(u swear im nit just kissing your ass for the giveaway... unless its working). also just want to add that you have a very comforting and soothing voice, ok thats all
Haha cheers Beeg! Unfortunately I can’t influence the giveaway since it’s all down to RNG but give yourself the best chance and get a comment in on all the vids from June. Also come on by to the Frontier discord - we’ve got a community section with no pressure to join our org (although the org is very cool - no bias here 😂).
This is the stuff that really gets me excited! …and worried. The thought of getting some of these larger orgs actually working together meaningfully in the game is going to need some server tech that, according to the most recent Citizencon talks on the subject, might never come. I've been dreaming about interacting with hundreds of players on the same server for years. I just hope it happens some day. If it does these org fleets are going to be amazing.
Aw man this is cool. Imagine 30 people all just starting off at a random crash site. Couple of grand each. Limited supplies and working from there up to this. Couple of them maybe got eaten along the way.
Will be really interesting to see how the terrapin evolves. But yeah as the premier pathfinder (currently) in the matrix it would make sense to have as a scouting vehicle - maybe to go and check a certain planetary system while your main fleet hangs back in the black.
@@LoudGuns that’s what I’m hope for, to fit the terrapin into the hanger of the BMM along with a Pieces to explore new systems and use it’s capabilities to scan planets and sell mining data as a side profit. I’m thinking that the Pieces Explorer will get a scanning suit in the future.
The problem with all of this is that, at least given how travel currently works, and the number of planned systems, you'll never be far away from civilization. it takes only minutes to get from planet to planet, and presumably it won't take days to traverse jump points, so you can't really wander into the wilderness, it's more like being at a KOA campground just outside a major city. The only way for the deep-dark exploratory orgs to really be possible is if they dramatically slow down travel speeds, or make the verse way way larger with an Elite: Dangerous-style procedural galaxy. One possible way to do this would be to make it so the jump points take you vast distances, but you can quantum travel using "slow" FTL to procedural star systems nearby the jump point hubs.
Would a 30 person org be able to crew all of those ships and a Kracken? I love the idea of using the Legionaire as the preferred shuttle. I'm just thinking that the Liberator might be a better fit over the Kracken. You could still bring the SRV, Legionaire, and 3 small fighters for protection and perhaps squeeze in the Apollo for medical. Have the Endeavor shuttle be used for trading with civilization. Those are my thoughts.
With the SRV coming I would like to see barges come into the game. Basically mini space station that can be “easily” towed around. A org could use it as a home base. However, a thing that annoys me is the number of ships in game that don’t have docking collars which is kinda needed to make this idea truly work.
@@LoudGuns I’m mainly thinking about keeping it as small as possible so hangers wouldn’t really work, landing pads could but it would only be like one or two. The SRV isn’t that big. I’m also just being weird and just don’t want to have to EVA to get off of the ship just to go into a station. Edit But I guess a larger barge could require multiple to move.
I can so close to getting a Kraken last week but Im glad I didn't that is far to much cash for a ship. you could have a carrack in there for medical and exploring / finding jump points . and swap the arrows with a full load of scorpius no need to make ammo :) and a great fighter
Haha yeah that is a lot of cash! I think after some discussion in the comments that I’d switch one of the Odysseys in the 100 person fleet for a Carrack to give more versatility and scanning capability. I’d generally switch all the weapons I could to energy since there’s no guarantee on being able to resupply ballistics. But I tend to just include fighters as generic options since the meta and balance changes will be felt most at that end of things.
I think it very much depends on what type of space you’re travelling through - at some points you’re going to want a very focussed turtle with your softest targets on the inside and your more combat capable craft spread around them. Other times (when you’re safer) you’ll probably want greater dispersion to maximise the area you’re searching for mineables and wrecks over. Having the fighters to act as outriders in these situations should be invaluable.
Yeah that was one of the things I mentioned in the 30 man - you could technically get the hospital on there and just have 2/4 biodomes. Unfortunately don’t have the models for that and since we don’t know the volumes of food production it’s one of those refinement options but definitely something to consider.
I hope that we can eventually build on asteroids. You could setup in an asteroid belt and be virtually impossible to be found. Find a big rock in the middle of nowhere and setup shop.
a large fleet sounds fun but what happens if half of the members go to sleep , will the ships remain ? if they do then what happens if only few people af the org are online at the moment .and another org launches an attack on the fleet at that time ?
Enjoyed the video, keep up great work. I'd add far more fighters to the mix, a small roving group of hammerheads will wreck this entire setup (or so it seems)
Thanks mate. Yeah I think I’ve vastly underestimated what will actually fit on and in a Kraken (particular since I reckon the Kraken will end up quite a bit bigger than it currently is). I suppose one of the rules of SC though is that there’s always going to be a bigger fish - some situations a roving nomadic fleet will either have to barter their way out of a situation or run like the wind if they can! Edit: this gets me thinking - maybe something that is missing is some form of stealthy forward scout to act as the point ship for the fleet when traversing dangerous areas?
Thanks for the video I really enjoyed it. I agree with you for the most part but I do disagree a tad about the 5 man fleet. The five man fleet is a way for 5 people to leave Stanton and cross larger distances. These 5 players are going to have prospectors, an Expanse and vulters already and be saving for that first large ship. The ideal ship would be the liberator. They don't wast anything they have already worked for. The liberator is the fastest way for them to leave Stanton. Then they can add any second large ship to suit there needs. Your fleet would be more a second iteration of the 5 man fleet.
That is a really good alternative - potentially even 2 so you can cover all of the bases. It would leave you a little weak on protection (I like the armament and capital shield of the odyssey) but a 5 person fleet will always have some weaknesses.
@@LoudGuns It seems to me that CIG is missing out on some great package ideas on the Liberator. They should sell a start mining guild pack and a starter salvaging guild pack. You could even do a pack for bounty's or bunkers all based around the Liberator. The most interesting ship in the game for me at the moment.
@@nathanforrester5140 I think generally that CIG don’t have packs right. Just taking the mining pack they released with the expanse as a really simple example (Prospector & Expanse) - why on earth do I want both those ships? Imo they could do a thing where if I buy a prospector or an expanse I get a discount code I can send to a friend allowing them to buy the other ship cheaper. That sort of thing could make for an interesting way to spread ships out amongst buddies and get all your bases covered
@@LoudGuns if the pack is aimed at someone starting an Org and having other people using there ships then it would work. There is no way I could afford most ships with real money. I would have to get them all in game. But I have friends with these ships. I am happy to fly one of there ships as I save for my own. I am very thankful for there help.
I think even if orgs aren’t specifically nomadic there are going to be moments for all orgs where they have to think about this. If resource scarcity is a thing then changes are you’re going to have to plan for big migrations from time to time even if otherwise you’re fairly stationary.
Would be cool to have a full carrier "city" ship with complete AI traders and the like that players have to stock up or something. Like a small player driven city, but with thrusters. I suppose that's the end goal with capital ships? I imagine some of the systems they add will be rather inhospitable, and a travelling city like that might be key to having an economy in an environment like that.
Yeah I think that sort of thing is the idea behind the Kraken Privateer in particular. Basically a floating shopping mall - will be interesting to see some orgs put together these oasis’ in the black.
I'm just such a solo player tho. would there be a place in an org for someone to just log in, redirect my NPCs to go off on my own adventure for a few hours, then retask them to some maintenance job while I'm off sleeping or working?
I’m guessing there will certainly be “umbrella orgs” where you can sign on but are pretty much free to just pursue your own goals - probably you would pay an element of tax on your earnings and in return you would benefit from use of org facilities (medical, refineries etc) and mutual protection (particularly if the org is big enough to have some full time combat folks supported by the tax revenues).
The really interesting thing is I reckon all orgs will have to consider these factors from time to time - with resource scarcity you will likely have to pickup and migrate every now and again at the very least.
maybe the Vulture would better than the prospector in the odyssey? it can create revenue, collect material for repairs, carry stores from a planet and carry a roc to the surface to make you some UEC.
Good shout - I was really thinking of the ice / water thing but I guess you could assume the odyssey might be able to do that to some extent, then the vulture gives you a bit of repair capability - ticking that box too.
+100pts for the “let’s get Kraken” pun.
Haha glad someone caught it!
Ha haaa! Nice catch and good call :) great vid ladz
Which, in turn, opens opportunities for content creators to RP as news orgs...
let us place quantum beacons for UEC, so orgs can host a merchant fleet event and do systems tours, like the Invictus fleet did.
I wish my friends had the same interest as I in playing this game, guess I have to look for an organization in order to enjoy multi-crew gameplay.
You’re always welcome over on our discord mate!
Same
Yea same been trying to get friends to play it. one only likes VR games now he has it.
This kind of theory crafting about the future of the game is what excites me so much about this game. The sheer amount of ways to play is going to be mind-boggling
Yeah it’s a really good way to spend a day! Can drop down a rabbit hole if you’re not careful though 😂

I can't wait till exploration is a full loop in the game. Just flying around with friends taking in the sights is so much fun. I really enjoy your fleet videos!
Thanks! Yeah when we’ve got a bit more area to explore it should be fantastic!
Indeed, just make sure you like the mates you bring!
this is exactly how i would love to play the game. Nomadic and distant from everyone else.
I love these sorts of videos. Gets me super hyped for the game. I truly hope its all possible and goes where they promised.
I am in a Nomadic Org, however, they fill the whole Spectrum with branches for every type of gameplay (Science, Trading, Defense, Mining). Our main priority is trading though but we are self-sufficient.
That’s awesome - what are you guys called? Would be really interesting to hear your views on my fleets vs what you’ve got planned.
@@LoudGuns we are STARLIGHT NOMADS / SLTC. We are a german org and I am just a normal member. We have a picture on our site, but it is not up to date (I think so). And we have more than 200 members, so we can think a bit bigger.
I just found the playlist for this Getting Organized series, thanks for making these vids and congrats on 10k Subs!
I like this - has very distinct Galactica vibes from the 30 person fleet onwards!
Yeah that was where some of the inspiration lay after discussing it on discord!
@@LoudGuns But when the BMM goes live, if you need to borrow one for a vid, you can holler at me
@@johnboyd9713 cheers John, but I’m in the BMM owners club too.
Either:
A) just give it a TON of point defense and a couple more manned turrets and get rid of the big gun (basically a freighter that escorts itself)
B) Up its capital weaponry to make it at least a viable capital brawler (on par with perseus, it is so much bigger than one). It doesn't need to beat a Polaris, but at least be a threat for one. I personally like the idea of adding broadside cannons to it to make it more like an old sailing pirate/merchant ship
or C) Fix the Defender
I love the Defender, but seeing the BMM, think the defender could use a bit of an overhaul to fill in the BMM's weaknesses.
Yeah with you on that. I don’t have many ships but an endeavor is certainly one!
@@LoudGuns That would be awesome. Deep space crews, could even set more long term colonies for those large orgs.
The idea of a nomadic fleet that travels the Verse is super interesting. I could see some pirate orgs taking idea from this as well.
I can imagine most pirates would prefer to stay mobile, with a core fleet of interdiction and fighting ships, a secondary cluster of cargo and salvage and other utilities, and an assortment of scouts probing nearby space for prospects.
love this type of content focused on theory crafting and fleet planning
They’re some of the episodes I find the most enjoyable to make for sure!
This is perfect for what I’ve been looking for! Not necessarily nomadic style but just all the big thinks consider when building an org. Thanks
Our organisation has got some juices pledges and looking forward to hitting the verse in a large posse!
But understand that all here aren't that
way.
Thought maybe you guys would be the ones to work out survival
approaches with from sick people like these till we find out how this game matures.
But majority of our time would be doing what we enjoy is all.
Anyway thanks for taking time to answer.
I like the notion of a Liberator to ferry more smaller ships. I would definitely consider that instead of the Hamerhead
i think ice mining its somthing that its a must have in the future, love the idea for a nomadic fleet, and find a ruins of a temporary outpost that a previus fleet left and use it as yore temporary outpost would be awesome
Damn the Kraken looks super interesting, I don't know if I'll ever have enough friends to need one but I love that Aircraft Carrier look
Plus, giveaway =D
And another type of fleet I hope we see: race teams and their support and hangers-on travelling a circuit of racing events!
I think the Kraken is going to be a staple of every decent fleet in the game. So many possibilities for what it could accomplish.
plus its only a light carrier imagine a heavy carrier
Reminds me of an old comic book series (french or belgian) from the '90s featuring a »Space Caravan«.
Great! I have the same choice and looking forward to live in the black with the Odissey 🔥
That was fun! I enjoyed your theory crafting and imagining what it would be like being in an org that big. :O
As soon as I won the kraken f5 war I picked up a legionnaire for a shuttle also! Think the 8 jump seats will be awesome
Thanks for the concept. SC fills in the gaps left by EVE. The future looks great.
You always have such cool and practical topics. I'd love to be a part of a nomadic floatilla.
Thanks mate! Yeah I'd love to do a journey like this!
The Odyssey seems reluctant for the 30 person org. You do with a cutty red instead, assuming kraken doesn't have med bed. And for the 5 person org hand salvage and hull repair could be used.
Also you could ditch the legionare for 2 MPU
With the first group, Far better to have a Hull A sat in the hangar considering it is smaller than a Prospector and you can use it to sell your minables and resupply and doesn't double up on the mining ability of the Odyssey
Eagerly awaiting the Merchantman & Pyro to start exploring. I’m now looking for a way to stay there for a longer time fuelwise… (with a four man crew)
Wish I could bring fuel pods on these trips.
This is right up my street! I plan to live a fairly nomadic lifestyle on my liberator carrying an SRV and vulture to run as a recovery service on the fringes. Hoping for medical and maybe workshop vehicles to fill the holes in my abilities.
Now I need to look through for the other episodes in this series.
I'm the one you congratulated in the introduction. Just waiting on having to save for the hardware.
Haha congratulations on your niche selection!
Superb video as always. I personally would't change the fleet composition , I think you got it spot on.
Flattery will get you everywhere 😂
With the larger sized fleets I'm curious if ARGO Cargo and Personnel carrier ships would have value. You'll need to move people and things around in the fleet regularly and I think they could quickly become a very convenient way to achieve that.
I think you’re right - also they’re so small they can just be tucked in the corners of most hangars!
True, but as you make friends with other similar groups, you may be tempted by better opportunities if you travel together.
Same here but at the scale of a Frontier outpost for an industrial org.
awesome reflection on a practical aspect of organized gameplay.
Cheers mate - I love these episodes not just for the fleets but also thinking about the potential challenges and ways to overcome them.
For the 5 people one i would add something small like a pisces or an argo cargo/personel for if you have to go planetside (to for example grab some medical suplies from an outpost) without having to bring the big ship down, this would save alot of fuel for the oddesey
i love this as it shows this game in its multiplayer aspect (Love the content keep it up)
Cheers mate - yep these are amongst my favourite episodes to make personally!
This is a great thought exercise. i would enjoy more of these
I’m a simple man, I see a video with a kraken I leave a like
Def looking forward to the merchant!
the odysse got 6 bed if I recall accuratly... and you could fit 2 aurora and a reliant in it...
those 3 have beds and can transport cargo...
so that could make up for a 10 players orgs
the carrack on the other hand got room for 6 bed aswell and you can hardly fit more than one aurora in it so no matter what ship you take in you cannot go beyond 7 players (logout bed)
halo was my first big introduction to sci fi and ever since i started playing, and learning about it ive been obsessed with the pelican and being a dropship pilot. when i first started playing sc ive been looking for something to quench my pelican flying thirst. ive been trying everything from the pisces to the vanguard (those 2 actually being my favorite ships ingame). but with how few seats the pisces have and the clunky doors of the vanguard its safe to say that ive felt pretty dissapointed, but once i saw the legionnaire i almost jumped out of my seat my brother can vouch for me since ive been pestering him about how cool i think the ship is. i dont really have the money for buying ships and im not a part of any org so i cant really band together with anyone and splurge, i know that it kinda sounds like im begging (because i definetivly am), but i would be ever so greatful if youd help me on the path of becoming a PP (Pelican Pilot). oh yeah also love your vids keep it up man(u swear im nit just kissing your ass for the giveaway... unless its working). also just want to add that you have a very comforting and soothing voice, ok thats all
Haha cheers Beeg!
Yeah I’m still hoping for just that, but I’m happy to see it come in increments. It’s very much what got me excited about SC too.
Aw man this is cool. Imagine 30 people all just starting off at a random crash site. Couple of grand each. Limited supplies and working from there up to this. Couple of them maybe got eaten along the way.
Were would the Terrapin fit in? Maybe as forward scout ship used before entering new systems with the main fleet.
What a great, fun video! I love theory crafting.
Thanks mate! These are some of my personal favourite episodes to make!
this is great, will be following your prowess
Not a huge explorer type, but looking foreward to using my odyssey in one of the org fleets. Exploring and prospecting
Excellent lists. I wonder how many people Will try to be completely fleet based.
Can definitely picture an org naturally becoming nomadic based after capturing a bagel and trying to keep it on the move to make it hard to attack.
The advantage is a Bengal would basically just be a floating nomadic city!
Lol, of course not...people that think they can lone wolf fleets or have a bunch of ships with only a few dozen people are absolutely bonkers
With the SRV coming I would like to see barges come into the game. Basically mini space station that can be “easily” towed around. A org could use it as a home base. However, a thing that annoys me is the number of ships in game that don’t have docking collars which is kinda needed to make this idea truly work.
Wow that's a cool idea! Tbf if you got a couple of landing pads or hangars onboard it would work?
@@LoudGuns I’m mainly thinking about keeping it as small as possible so hangers wouldn’t really work, landing pads could but it would only be like one or two. The SRV isn’t that big.
I’m also just being weird and just don’t want to have to EVA to get off of the ship just to go into a station.
Edit
But I guess a larger barge could require multiple to move.
What would be your 3D relative positioning of the ships in the fleet, chosen to facilitate their roles and to maximize defence?
I think it very much depends on what type of space you’re travelling through - at some points you’re going to want a very focussed turtle with your softest targets on the inside and your more combat capable craft spread around them. Other times (when you’re safer) you’ll probably want greater dispersion to maximise the area you’re searching for mineables and wrecks over. Having the fighters to act as outriders in these situations should be invaluable.
New Loud Guns vid, hell yeah!
Is the endevouir's modularity an either/or situation or could u mix a hospital module with the agriculture? MIght streamline the fleet.
Yeah that was one of the things I mentioned in the 30 man - you could technically get the hospital on there and just have 2/4 biodomes. Unfortunately don’t have the models for that and since we don’t know the volumes of food production it’s one of those refinement options but definitely something to consider.
This is what I want to do in game and really hope they make some great gameplay/loops/POI around it
Great video! Love the theory craft!
I hope that we can eventually build on asteroids. You could setup in an asteroid belt and be virtually impossible to be found. Find a big rock in the middle of nowhere and setup shop.
I am really looking forward to the Survival aspect of the game. I wonder how efficient the farms will be.
a large fleet sounds fun but what happens if half of the members go to sleep , will the ships remain ? if they do then what happens if only few people af the org are online at the moment .and another org launches an attack on the fleet at that time ?
Thanks for creating such engaging content!
really interesting to see all of these ideas, if only i actually had friends who play this game...
@@LoudGuns I would probably get the odyssey as the second ship in the fleet. I think 5 to 10 people could run a Liberator and the odyssey.
Really like this train of thought, I’d certainly like to be involved in something like this
I think even if orgs aren’t specifically nomadic there are going to be moments for all orgs where they have to think about this.
Good to see you back
Looking forward to seeing wolf packs of 3-5 bmm fighting and trading together
That….is a lot of guns when you think about it!
This would be such a fun thing to do
Really looking forward to the odyssey
It’s weird - the Odyssey didn’t grab me from the first moment, but the more I look at it the cooler it is to me!
Can't wait till this game becomes more of an org survival game
The really interesting thing is I reckon all orgs will have to consider these factors from time to time - with resource scarcity you will likely have to pickup and migrate every now and again at the very least.
Love these types of vids. Imagination just runs wild when it comes to what you can do in this game. (entry for giveaway)
There is never a situation in which you should not unleash the kraken
maybe the Vulture would better than the prospector in the odyssey? it can create revenue, collect material for repairs, carry stores from a planet and carry a roc to the surface to make you some UEC.
I don't think it will fit. 😔
Good shout - I was really thinking of the ice / water thing but I guess you could assume the odyssey might be able to do that to some extent, then the vulture gives you a bit of repair capability - ticking that box too.
